How are you feeling?: The nausea kicked in last week so I'm feeling gross. Hungry but icky and everything smells bad. But the food aversions are still much better than last time around for me so I am able to eat somewhat healthily (as opposed to basically just bread and rice for 12 weeks last time) so I am grateful for that. I also played a soccer game yesterday and it used up all of the energy I had for the coming week, I think. I don't think I have ever been so tired and unable to function. Fortunately I only have one more game and then my season is over and I won't be playing the next (couple) seasons.
Rants/Raves: The vitamin B6/unisom never did much for me last pregnancy, and doesn't seem to be doing anything for me this time either. But someone suggested magnesium and I think maybe that did the trick for me, or I just got a lucky downswing of symptoms shortly after I took it. I have only tried it once so far but I will try it again and hopefully it works!
Questions: Do you think your children can sense a pregnancy the way pets can? My toddler is way too small to understand another baby even if we told her, but she has been doing great being independent and letting me do a few quick tasks without her for the last couple months, but suddenly she is clingy and cries anytime I put her down and won't let anyone else console her except me.
GTKY: What is your favorite way to spend a day off? I love going hiking. My hiking bucket list has slowly stalled since I had my first baby (we still get out, just not the big hikes I love best) but I would love a day off from everything and spend all day conquering a peak.
EDD / Weeks + Days: 10w1d, measured 3 days ahead at 8wk ultrasound
FTM/STM/TTM+: first time mom
Baby is the size of a(n): strawberry
Team blue/pink/green: we think it'll be a girl but excited for anything!
Upcoming Appointments: Next appointment isn't until August second. I'll get to hear baby's heartbeat at that appointment which will help relieve some anxiety.
How are you feeling?: Since 5wks I've had nausea, significant food aversions, sensitivity to smells, fatigue, and some depression. No vomiting at all thankfully. Symptoms starting to fade this week which is a relief but of course makes me wonder if everything is growing smoothly in there. No reason to beleive its not though.
Rants/Raves: I finally met with my doula, and I'm really excited to work with her, however she told me that I may have some difficulty finding a homebirth CNM, because you really need to do that as soon as you get a positive test, not now at 10wks. What she's saying makes total sense, the part that frustrates me is how both with my previous pregnancy that ended in miscarriage and my current pregnancy there was this air of illegitimacy that I got from my (not midwife) doctors, that it wasn't a real pregnancy yet because it was so early and that I was bothering them by wanting to get started on things asap. No body said this out loud, but it was the vibe I got a few times, which made me hesitate reaching out for the doula and midwife until I had a confirmation of pregnancy scan. Just frustrated I didnt listen to my gut and that it may make it more difficult for me to have the birth I want.
Questions: Nothing specific right now.
GTKY: What is your favorite way to spend a day off? I just made some homemade lemon sorbet to help me survive this heat, so that was really enjoyable.
@anni_4121 That's frustrating. I know exactly the vibe you are talking about from doctors, so it makes sense you would wait to make sure everything is okay before trying to schedule something for your home birth. Hopefully you can find someone to accommodate you so you can have your ideal birthing situation.
