No rants. We celebrated Mother’s Day this past weekend. We initially were going to go out on the boat but the weather was bad. So I ended up just relaxing all weekend. I finished the top of a quilt I’m working on so that felt really good.

GTKY: Do you collect anything? If so, what is it? I suppose I collect heirloom seeds 😂. It’s a problem. In my defense, I do plant everything that could possibly, or not possibly fit 😂

Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: gender reveal planning
Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: height of a tennis ball or, size of a toy soldier
Upcoming appointments: Met with MFM today to discuss being AMA & High Risk. I have to do the GD bloodwork soon and the next appt is on 6/16. Anatomy scan is 7/7!
How are you feeling? I’m feeling alright. Still exhausted all of the time. I thought some energy would return in the 2nd trimester but momma is struggling.
Rants / Raves: rave: start my new job in about 2 weeks since my current employer wouldn’t provide light duty and I’m on disability which hasn’t even started paying. New employer is paying more, it’ll be 8 hr shifts compared to the 12+ hrs I was working on the ambulance. No heavy lifting, more affordable healthcare (about half the cost of what I’m currently paying). No weekend or holiday hours as it’s an outpatient OB-GYN office.
rave: DSs 8th birthday is 6/1.
rant: disability is a pain. They closed my claim because I’m “still working” and “haven’t delivered baby yet. I haven’t worked a shift in 5 weeks since my employer couldn’t accommodate light duty.
Questions: None
GTKY: Do you collect anything? If so, what is it? I collect shot glasses from the places I visit. I also collect Disneys Stitch character…he’s my absolute favorite Disney character.

Finding out! But fingers crossed for a healthy baby (boy!)
Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of:

Upcoming appointments:
June 13
How are you feeling?
Still tired but energy is starting to pick up in waves. Hope it shows up by the weekend. Hosting the in laws and they want to work on projects… truth be told I’m going to have them help me put the garden in - my seedlings are about ready to go out anyways.
Rants / Raves:
No rants. went golfing this weekend and I shot really well. We played in a scramble and to be fair I was the only one not drinking but we used my ball ALOT so I’m claiming victory. Considering golfing sober more often 😉
Questions:
I’ll be 16 plus weeks at my next appointment but it isn’t scheduled to be a scan - what are the odds of being able to talk them into taking a look and getting to some better guesses in gender??? I’m terrible and the wait is killing me.
GTKY: Do you collect anything? If so, what is it? @Kiek I also have an extensive heirloom seed collection!! They’re so much fun. I love tomatoes. I think my favorite is the costoluto genovese - they look like little fairy tale pumpkins and I love them. Got any favorites???
and after thought rant - my tomato starts don’t look that great this year and I’m normally awesome at it. Blaming it on being a tad distracted lol. All the cole crops and flowers look awesome tho so it’ll be fine.
Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: clown fish
Upcoming appointments: private ultrasound 6/3, standard 16 wk appt 6/9
How are you feeling? Hoping for energy and nausea relief soon! Physically huge… my belly is already at the point it was at 20 weeks with my first!
Rants / Raves: DH booked me a hotel room for just me this weekend and also gave me gift cards for Uber eats and a book store across the street!
Questions: none
GTKY: Do you collect anything? If so, what is it? Those pressed pennies you see the machines for in touristy locations.
@medicmomma6115 I’m so sorry disability is treating you like that, I’m glad you found a more workable option though!
@stevieraem you could always book a private ultrasound, that’s what we’re doing bc I also can’t wait. We did it with my second as well and it was wonderful!

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: An avocado
Upcoming appointments: June 6
How are you feeling? Pretty good except I can't stand for longer than a couple minutes without feeling like I'm going to pass out. I think my blood pressure is doing wonky things so I'm going to talk to my doctor about it.
Rants / Raves: I had a really good day at work for the first time in a while and none of the kids gave me any trouble before or after school until a sign that we got as a wedding present 5 years ago (we are still hanging things up since we moved not long ago) has sharpie all over it and none of the kids will confess to it. So if anyone has any tips on removing sharpie without removing paint from the wood then I'm all ears.
Questions: None
GTKY: Do you collect anything? If so, what is it? I collect elephants. I started my collection on my 5th birthday and collecting them ever since. I have all kinds of them. I also collect marbles which I've collected since I was little too.
@ohsmith DS2 decorated our rental not too long ago with sharpie. It didn’t remove all of it, but I had decent luck getting most of it off the wall by spraying hair spray directly on it and blotting. There is still a shadow on the wall, but it is probably 90%-ish gone. I would test a small portion to make sure it doesn’t remove your paint. A lot of people recommended using a Mr. Eraser, but I worried it would take the finish/paint off the wall because those can be kind of abrasive.

Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: Clown fish
Upcoming appointments: Yesterday
How are you feeling? I feel like the nausea is on its way out. I'm still sick in the evenings, but I'm no longer sick all day. Otherwise, I'm tired, but feeling pretty good overall.
Rants / Raves: Raves: The weather has been really good here, so we've had a lot of outside time. New daycare is going really well, and the boys are so much happier when they get home every night. Rants: It's not really a rant, but DS3 has to have a procedure done today, and I am super nervous for him. His doctor has reassured me that it's just precautionary, and if anything is found, it'll be a monitor/wait kind of thing, but I'm still nervous.
Questions: I have a work event at the beginning of June in Iowa. It will most likely be super hot, and it's mostly outside. I can wear more casual pants, but I need something that breathes. Does anyone have suggestions? I think jeans will be too hot, I don't wear professional length shorts, and leggings won't be appropriate.
GTKY: Do you collect anything? If so, what is it? I don't really collect anything, but DS1 collects rocks. He has a huge tub of them, and they make him so happy.
@medicmomma6115 Congratulations on your new job! I hope your disability kicks in soon. They can't honestly expect you to deliver the baby right now? That's just not how this works.
@stevieraem What all are you going to plant in your garden?
@varimama That gift sounds amazing! I hope you have a great time!

Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: Surprise
Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: An avocado I think
Upcoming appointments: Thursday with the nurse practitioner and 6/7 for the anatomy scan
How are you feeling?: I didn't think I'd be struggling this much mentally. This pregnancy has just turned my world upside down and it feels like there are a lot of unknowns.
Rants / Raves: I'm not looking forward to my appointment on Thursday. I've always just seen my OB/MFM during pregnancy, never had to see a nurse practitioner. My very first appointment when I met this woman, she rubbed me the wrong way. She acted very surprised when I said we don't have family in the state and couldn't seem to believe that we could do this without our family around. We've been doing this for almost 7 years without family in the same state. She just came across as very condescending about multiple things and I wasn't impressed.
Pools in the area open on Saturday. Looking forward to being at the pool all weekend every weekend for the next few months.
Questions: nope
GTKY: Do you collect anything? If so, what is it? I used to collect Barbies. The collectors edition ones. Haven't added to that collection in years. Then I collected shot glasses. But those were never displayed after we moved to Texas. Now it's elephants. I have a particular affection for Dumbo but I love any elephant. Here's to all the elephants @ohsmith!
@medicmamma6115 - I'm so sorry about the disability situation. But that's awesome that you're starting a new and better job. Here's to bigger and better things!
@makingbacon - I hope everything goes well for your DS. Hugs to you guys. Watching go through procedures or surgeries or anything of the sort is so hard. Maybe light weight linen pants? They generally have a stretch waist and, if you find the right ones, can be light weight, flowy and breathable.
@stevieraem oh I love those! I’ve never ventured into those types of tomatoes but I think they are so fun! I love purple or black tomatoes. I’ve tried so many different kinds but the purples have the perfect amount of acid and savory for me. I have a strain of Cherokee purples I’ve been saving every year for quite a few years now that I’m partial to, but the Paul Robisons are definitely a close second. So good! I’m so ready to be back up in WV because it’s so much easier to grow tomatoes up there. Here in southeastern nc it’s a STRUGGLE! The weather, pests and diseases are all against you. But I have found that planting a small bait fish under each plant makes a HUGE difference.
Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: Surprise... NIPT results came back and the Fetal Sex was in fact listed as "Opt-Out"
Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: Apricot
Upcoming appointments: 6/6 for intake call with new OB, 6/12 for first appt with new OB!
How are you feeling? Nausea has definitely subsided, but still very tired
Rants / Raves: Rave -everything on the NIPT came back low risk! Rant - I was eating something with Tajin and had some on my hand. Rubbed my nose and now my nose is on fireeeee
Questions: N/A
GTKY: Do you collect anything? If so, what is it? I've been trying to think of something I collect, but I honestly don't think I have anything that qualifies as a collection...
@medicmomma6115 glad you found something that sounds even better, it sounds like your old employer is a piece of work.
@stevieraem I’m not sure they’d do a scan at the 16w appt unless there was a reason to… unless they have one of those portable ultrasound things and don’t mind just doing them super quick! I never had an ultrasound outside of the regularly scheduled ones or because there was some medical reason to get a look
@makingbacon I hope the procedure goes well. My absolute favorite work pants are Athleta Brooklyn Ankle Pants. They are lightweight, casual but can be dressed up, and are super comfortable almost leggings… But they’re pricey so buying them during pregnancy might not be the best if you have to get a size that won’t work long term…
@UnwritteN12 I only have 1 child, but I also don’t have family in the state. Living close to family would be great, but it’s just not realistic for everyone. I’m sorry the NP treated you that way!
@makingbacon Have you tried some loose-fitting linen pants? I didn't like them at first but my husband made me buy some maternity ones from Old Navy and they are super comfortable and lightwieht.
@kiek this photo is from last summer - don’t mind the crazy counter lol But the costolutos are the ones that look like bumpy pumpkins I just love them AND if you look closely you can see a few Paul Robinsons! Also love those flavorful boys!!! Our struggle in northern Michigan is the short season - I’m starting inside, trying to time the weather as quick as I can to get them outside and then hold off til the very last minute before I clear plants of all fruit and finish ripening inside lol It’s a rush lol I’m going to try the fish thing tho - we do a lot of fishing and quite often have left over baitfish…
@makingbacon alot is in the garden… this year I’ve got tons of flower I try to keep blooms all season to keep the good bugs happy, then herbs, chard, spinach, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, taters, corn, tomatoes, peppers of all kinds, eggplant, summer squash, winter squash, peas, beans, cucumbers, melons, pumpkins…. It’s nuts. This year I’m skipping kohlrabi and tomatillos, I have a bunch of leftover kohlrabi from last year and I didn’t realize I was out of tomatillos. It’s a labor of love but we can/dehydrate/freeze a ton and I have the benefit of being married to a teacher so I have a garden manager at home all summer. 😉
Popping back in here with my apologies for an unintended long absence. I pretty much exclusively use TB at work and let's just say I was less than productive at my desk all through 1st tri, lol. As in I was asleep in my chair more often than not. I think that's mostly behind me now, except for the 45 min nap I took this afternoon.

Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: We're having a GIRL! We told our Moms on Mother's Day, and now that my Mom knows so does the rest of the world.
Interesting baby fact / Baby is the size of: She's about the same length as an Eggo waffle's diameter.
Upcoming appointments: OB appt on June 14th, anatomy scan June 22nd
How are you feeling? Finally starting to feel more like myself, except extremely hormonal and with a pot belly lol seriously though, I see now why people say 2nd tri is so magical. I'm in awe of my growing belly, especially after 5+ years of infertility, and the way DH looks at me these days just makes my heart swell. Anyway, there go those hormones again.
Rants / Raves: Rant: Only that my Mom is stressful and people keep telling me I need to relax, but, well, family. Rave: See above re: 2nd Trimester. I've been at war with my body for so long, it's nice to lean into this pregnancy and just try to take it all in.
Questions: Anyone start feeling movement yet? This is the first time I've gotten this far so I don't feel like I know what to expect? I keep reading butterfly flutters. But then I'm just playing the fun game of "was that gas or was that baby?" all day long.
Will be back for tags!

@kiek omg your anatomy scan is coming up so soooon! Exciting! I also collect seeds, though not specifically heirloom. I never end up using them all but I can't help myself. I usually have no less than 8 varieties of tomato going at any given time. @medicmomma6115 I thought the same thing about my energy, but it's like someone flicked a switch around 14w and suddenly I was fine. It's bizarre! I hope you get some relief soon. Also, boo to the disability! @stevieraem now that I've been medically cleared to golf, I'm itching to get out on the course. Any tips on working around the belly? Also, those TOMATOES! It's funny, I don't really eat that many tomatoes but they're my absolute favourite thing to grow. @varimama omg my BFF collects those pressed pennies, I get her one every time we travel somewhere new. Do you have them displayed in any special way? Hers are just in a box lol. @makingbacon +1 to linen pants. I also got mine from Old Navy, when they're pressed nicely they can actually look quite dressy. @fitandnerdy did you want to find out the sex or was the opt-out intentional? but YAY for NIPT being low risk!

@kiki047 we didn’t want to find out! Last week when I got it done, they told me it would report the sex and they couldn’t change the code to have it not reported. I guess they were just being cautious and they were able to get the version with the sex opt out!
@kiki047 I’m so glad you’re starting to feel better and congrats on the girl 💕 I have these penny passport books I keep all my pressed pennies in. Though I’ve been worse about keeping them lately, my kids love them and play with them and sometimes loose them 😬
