hCG levels

Hello,

I am on bromocriptine due to elevated prolactin and took medication to induce ovulation. We had our IUI on Mar 11th and I have 28 day cycle. My cycle started on Feb 26th. I tested positive with at-home urine kit and got my hCG levels tested on Monday 27th. They were at 43.4 and again on Wednesday at 64.9. Nurse is predicting that it is abnormal pregnancy and wanted me to come in for another hCG tomorrow Friday.

Is there a light at the nd of the tunnel? Is 49.5% increase low? She said they wanted to see hCG at 100 with doubling over two days.

I do not have any pregnancy symptoms.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot!

Re: hCG levels

  • @sontk The most important thing about HCG is that it doubles every 48 hours.  Yours was not even close to doubling, so unless that suddenly changes or you had an abnormally low second reading, it does not look promising.
The reality is that unfortunately if you are headed for a MC, there's nothing you can do to stop it.  It really sucks to be stuck in limbo and have to wait, but waiting to see if those HCG numbers double is all you can do and hold your breath until then.  Also, I've personally found it helpful to love my baby regardless of what happens, and to love it every day/hour/minute whether I have that baby 4.5 weeks, 6 weeks, 8 weeks, or longer...
    *TW All the Loss* #BitterHagPartyOf1

October 2015 - 1st MC.  7-8 weeks along. Suspected molar PG, but luckily just a MMC.

    June 2016 - 2nd MC: 4-5 weeks CP

    September 2016 - 3rd MC: 4-5 weeks CP

RE 1: ALL the testing - 'unexplained'  "Yinz can do IVF or try on your own"

    Feb 2017 - 4th MC: 6 weeks

RE 2: More tests. Still 'unexplained.'  Called fat for an entire hour-long appointment, cried a lot

    Feb 2019 - 5th MC: 6-7 weeks

    IUD - March 2019-March 2023

RE 3:  Repeat all the tests. Hoping to try IVF.
