Trouble TTC

Ttc: 20 days after lh surge, no BFP

Hi,

I have been in my TTC jurney for almost a year now, around 4 months ago I started tracking my ovulation using the easy home lh strips and it has been quite accurate predicting my périod date. this month I got my lh surge around cycle day 18, so it is estimated to get my period around CD 32. today is CD 39 and my period didn't show up, I was happy at the beginning thinking I might be pregnant and took my first pregnancy test at day 33, it was négatif.
I thought maybe my hcg level is still low, so I waited 2 more days, the 2 other days and I am always getting BFN.
I am feeling desperate now and thinking maybe I didn't ovulate at CD 18 (even though I got an lh surge).
I had my hopes high this cycle and now I am trying to control my feelings. I want to understand what's going on, my gynecologist asked for blood tests to check my hormones and any possible problem but thank God it was all fine, my husband also is fine.
now she asked me to do a check if my fallopian canal is blocked, but I don't want to go through that "operatio" because it is scary the way she described it to me.

Any help please explaining what could be happening here, or if someone went through something similar? I would love to hear something that brings me hope and encourages me to keep up

Thank you!

  • Did you happen to keep testing your lh after the surge? It's possible you didn't ovulate with the first one. If that happened, it's possible to get a second surge and ovulate later. That has definitely happened to me. If you had continued to test your lh, you could see a second surge

Is the test they recommended to check your fallopian tubes the HSG or Sono HSG? If so, it's nothing as big as an operation, just a procedure slightly more than an internal ultrasound or pap smear. It's expensive and can be uncomfortable/painful (taking ibuprofen before helps), but it's not a big deal, and for some people who did have blocked tubes, that procedure can clear it and helps with fertility.

  • Thank you for your reply <3
after couple of days I took another lh test (when I had again new acne pimples and felt sore breasts and it was also high) this was around CD 29, so it could be that I actually ovulated CD30. if this assumption is right I would expect my periode at CD 44 is that normal! I really have a history with irregular periods but it didn't happen in the last 4 cycles.
As of the fallopian tube test, she told me it will be a general anesthesia and 2 stitches in my uterus, they will insert something then empty some liquide inside my uterus then take pictures to see that liquid creating a contrast with my flopping tube inner lining.
as side effects she told me that it could lead to infections, bleeding and "something could go wrong is a small chance" knowing that I am dealing with a German female doctor you can imagine how much empathy in her words. she freaked me out!
I don't feel like going through all this just to check if it is blocked, and if not, all this will be for nothing.
Regarding cost, my health insurance will cover this so this point won't affect my decision. but I am thinking to at least wait more, I took contraceptive pills about a year ago (for only 3 months) and my mom and friends are telling me that could take longer after stopping them, eventhoug the science disagree with this!
I wish this journey gets easy for all couples around there ttc ❤❤
  • Hmm, I'm not familiar with a procedure like you described. It does seem quite invasive. Are you working with a reproductive endocrinologist (fertility specialist) yet? In addition to questions about your cycle, it sounds like you're getting advice from different sources that may not be the most specialized, accurate, or up to date in this area. Meeting with an RE can help determine what tests are most appropriate and what your next steps would be
