  Moving my answer to @sunshine134's question to this week's thread. When you are writing up a new post and want to add a spoiler, you can either write what you want to write first and then select it and put it in a spoiler, or else create a spoiler box, write, and then get out of the spoiler box. either way, the spoiler option can be found above where you compose your message in the little drop-down menu marked with the "paragraph" icon (¶). you can't do hard cursor returns (hitting the return key) within a spoiler box or else you'll start a new spoiler/get out of the spoiler but you can do a "soft" return (hit it while holding down the shift key).

  Diagnosis (if you've been): i've been reading a lot of scientific studies of late and literally one of the studies i read described older women ttgp as "elderly." like, i get that from a fertility perspective age is super important but seriously, i'm not 80.
  

  Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): FET!
  

  What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): progesterone shots and then transfer on Friday!
  

  How are things going?: Good(?). Spoilering for long tangent
  

  My clinic is not finicky about how many hours of progesterone exposure a patient needs before transfer--they're just like, start PIO sometime 6 days before transfer (sunday) and then keep the shots at that time. initially i had planned to do the shots in the evening but when i did the math on it (transfer is at 2pm) i realized i would only have 117 hours of progesterone exposure, which is maybe a little at the low end from what i've read. so then i went rabbit-holing in the literature on progesterone exposure and found a couple of studies suggesting that longer progesterone exposure has potentially better outcomes for day 6 blastocysts (maybe a better synchronization with the endometrial environment?) than the day 5s. At least one of these studies suggests a 7-day exposure rather than a 6. I'm not doing that, obvs., but it did give me a sense of leeway in heading to the longer side of day 6. Anyway, I decided to do my shot in the morning which puts me more in the realm of 126 hours of progesterone exposure. Now i'm just trying to not freak out about whether I made the wrong choice. Living in my head is dumb, you guys.

  I am doing this on my own. Left ovary and fallopian tube removed due to cyst/necrosis just after birth. Right ovary and tube still purport to function.

  Began TTC in Aug '18 @ age 35

  5 or 6 (or 7?!) cycles using frozen donor sperm, ICI. All BFN

  Mar-Jun '19 IUIs, all BFN
  

  Began process of referral for RE in spring of '19, blood tests confirm low AMH (.54) but all else is good.

  May '19 HSG shows open tube, but ultrasound suggests fibroids
  

  MRI in June '19 confirms two large fibroids, one growing through wall of uterus

  In June '19 I move from California to Oregon, disrupting my insurance, referrals, etc. 5 months spent piecing it all back together.
  

  Nov. '19 attempted myomectomy (vaginal approach) failed. 2nd surgery using laparoscopic method in Jan '20 is successful.
  

  April '20 --> June '20, natural IUIs, all BFN.

  July? saline ultrasound and bubble test demonstrate open tube
  

  July '20 clomid cycle cancelled for thin lining

  Aug-Oct, 3 femara cycles, all BFN

  RE referral. While waiting to set up an appointment Nov-Jan,I continue with natural cycles and ICI, using a known donor, BFN...
  

  Jan '21 more bloodwork, AMH is worse (.30), FSH high albeit not catastrophic at 13.2. hysteroscopy all good. "looks cozy!" says the RE.
  

  Feb '21, injectables (menopur, novarel), iui, BFN (doc said the frozen donor sperm sample had the "best numbers she'd ever seen!")
  

  Mar '21, injectables, iui cancelled due to lack of follicles, converted to at home-insem. BFN
  

  May '21, first IVF round cancelled due to cyst.

  July '21 IVF: standard antagonist. 225menupur/225gonal-f/cetrotide/5000u trigger, AFC 7; 6 days of stims. 8 eggs retrieved, 7 mature, 5 fertilize, 4 made it to blast. 3 are 4AB, 1 is 4BB. PGT-A results all abnormal.
  Oct '21 somewhat improved AMH (.51) and significantly improved FSH (8.9). Maybe it's all the pills I swallow.
  Dec -21, standard antagonist. 225menupur/225gonal-f/cetrotide/5000u trigger, AFC 5; 11 days of stims. retrieval yields 5, 4M, 2 reach day-6 blast (4AB & 4BB). 1 low-level mosaic (chr. 3 deletion), 1 complex abnormal.
  Feb '22 FET (low-level mosaic): CP.
  May '22 egg retrieval, lupron flare protocol. HGH priming for 1 month before stims; md lupron 20/20u daily; menopur 225, follistim 225, 10k trigger after 8 days of stims; AFC 10; 13 retrieved; 10 mature; 8 fertilized. All frozen at 2PN for later thaw, grow, and biopsy.
  July '22 egg retrieval same protocol: 9 days of stims; AFC 8; 10 retrieved, 8 mature, 4 fertilized and frozen.
  Sept '22 ER same protocol: AFC 10; 12 retrieved, 11 mature, 11 fertilized.
  From the 3 retrievals, 7 survived to day 5-6 blastocyst, from which I have 2 normal embryos!
  Jan 20, Fully medicated FET, baby aspirin, dexamethasone, acupuncture, and as much woo as I can stand (which isn't very much). BFN.
  July 23, Natural FET + baby aspirin. BFN.

  How are things going?: I decided to try OPKs just for fun mostly. I haven't gotten a true positive OPK since I started testing, but yesterday got a dye stealer OPK and DTD, so I'm on the "maybe this could work," train. I'm trying to talk myself down but the OPK was SO dark!

  What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Nothing special. I've been using progesterone after ovulation to extend my LP, but I'm thinking this cycle I'm not going to, just to see what my body does entirely on it's own. Give myself a full break from any and all treatments.
  

  How are things going?: Eh, surprisingly well. I got a bfn yesterday and my period started overnight. I hate being woken up by cramps from hell, and then I'm too tired to get up out of bed to get advil, but I'm in too much pain to actually fall back asleep so I just lay in bed for hours writhing in pain.

  lol. i just got a call from my clinic while standing in line for a salad, asking if i had a preference for the sex of the embryo i will transfer on friday. i didn't pick up because i was surrounded by students in the student union (i am a professor), but called back to leave a message that i have no preference and if they like they may flip a coin, but that because the male embryo has a slightly better grading i'm guessing they will prefer that. this process is so weird, and the juxtaposition of huge decisions with, like, grabbing a salad is just the icing on the cake.

  History

  Dec '19: IVF #1 w/ICSI, PGT. 5 retrieved, 4 fertilized, 3 blasts, 3 PGT-A normal.

  Mar '20: FET #1, perfect 5AA blast transferred. BFN.

  Mar '22: Mock cycle for ERA - cancelled, repeat endometrial biopsy instead. Still positive for endometritis. RX ciprofloxacin & amoxicillin.

  Feb '22 FET (low-level mosaic): CP.
  May '22 egg retrieval, lupron flare protocol. HGH priming for 1 month before stims; md lupron 20/20u daily; menopur 225, follistim 225, 10k trigger after 8 days of stims; AFC 10; 13 retrieved; 10 mature; 8 fertilized. All frozen at 2PN for later thaw, grow, and biopsy.
  July '22 egg retrieval same protocol: 9 days of stims; AFC 8; 10 retrieved, 8 mature, 4 fertilized and frozen.
  Sept '22 ER same protocol: AFC 10; 12 retrieved, 11 mature, 11 fertilized.
  From the 3 retrievals, 7 survived to day 5-6 blastocyst, from which I have 2 normal embryos!
  Jan 20, Fully medicated FET, baby aspirin, dexamethasone, acupuncture, and as much woo as I can stand (which isn't very much). BFN.

  i'm home after a long drive from the clinic and just wanna say this community is really the best. i can't believe how many of you came through here to send good wishes. the transfer process has been weird for me this time, hard to feel present for. but my RE today was really lovely, a great combination of encouraging and genuine and also amusingly chatty about a million meaningless things. literally he was doing the transfer and talking a mile a minute about how he really would like to meet martha stewart and how he thinks she got a bad rap, and he loves the way she presents dishes. meanwhile i'm watching on the ultrasound the catheter deliver its contents just to the right spot in the uterine cavity.
  

  fwiw, the embryo looks beautiful. the photo they gave me caught it just busting out of its encasement. none of that matters if it doesn't like the soil it lands in, but it's a start.

  meanwhile i'm probably gonna hang back a bit around here til i know what's up.
  

  History

  I am doing this on my own. Left ovary and fallopian tube removed due to cyst/necrosis just after birth. Right ovary and tube still purport to function.

  Began TTC in Aug '18 @ age 35

  5 or 6 (or 7?!) cycles using frozen donor sperm, ICI. All BFN

  Mar-Jun '19 IUIs, all BFN
  

  Began process of referral for RE in spring of '19, blood tests confirm low AMH (.54) but all else is good.

  May '19 HSG shows open tube, but ultrasound suggests fibroids
  

  MRI in June '19 confirms two large fibroids, one growing through wall of uterus

  In June '19 I move from California to Oregon, disrupting my insurance, referrals, etc. 5 months spent piecing it all back together.
  

  Nov. '19 attempted myomectomy (vaginal approach) failed. 2nd surgery using laparoscopic method in Jan '20 is successful.
  

  April '20 --> June '20, natural IUIs, all BFN.

  July? saline ultrasound and bubble test demonstrate open tube
  

  July '20 clomid cycle cancelled for thin lining

  Aug-Oct, 3 femara cycles, all BFN

  RE referral. While waiting to set up an appointment Nov-Jan,I continue with natural cycles and ICI, using a known donor, BFN...
  

  Jan '21 more bloodwork, AMH is worse (.30), FSH high albeit not catastrophic at 13.2. hysteroscopy all good. "looks cozy!" says the RE.
  

  Feb '21, injectables (menopur, novarel), iui, BFN (doc said the frozen donor sperm sample had the "best numbers she'd ever seen!")
  

  Mar '21, injectables, iui cancelled due to lack of follicles, converted to at home-insem. BFN
  

  May '21, first IVF round cancelled due to cyst.

  July '21 IVF: standard antagonist. 225menupur/225gonal-f/cetrotide/5000u trigger, AFC 7; 6 days of stims. 8 eggs retrieved, 7 mature, 5 fertilize, 4 made it to blast. 3 are 4AB, 1 is 4BB. PGT-A results all abnormal.
  Oct '21 somewhat improved AMH (.51) and significantly improved FSH (8.9). Maybe it's all the pills I swallow.
