Symptom #1: beyond ready to be done Symptom #2: she’s totally dropped and run out of room so every nerve in my pelvis is lighting up Symptom #3: I can’t sit up for “long” periods of time without having to lean to the side or lay down due to her being deep in my pelvis Symptom #4: my mindset is currently “eh, 37 weeks is next week. She wouldn’t be premature. Please come next week” 😫🤣
I have to drive out of town for the chiropractor, midwife and my other doctor. The midwife and other doctor is about a 40 minute drive and I get a cramp near my rib cage and in my back on one side while I'm driving. I don't know how long I can do this. 😭 I'm really wondering if I can just not to go some of my appointments. I have to go to some of them because they are super important. But it's to the point where I'm wanting to ask my husband to skip work to take me but that's not likely either and I can't leave the kids home alone that long.
@amccurls 37 weeks would be great. That's as far as I need to make it to have a home birth. My earliest was 38 weeks but he was a good size for that far along. This one is going to be little though I think so I might need her to cook a couple more weeks.
@amccurls and @seeds_of_joy, I’m also hoping for a 37 week delivery! I plan to start curb walking at 37 weeks, and having lots of sex. Lol. Walking will be a challenge during this very cold winter. I’ll be 37 weeks on January 18. 🤞
My belly feels huge, and I really want the baby to drop soon so that I can breathe again. I think I’m starting to experience Braxton Hicks. However, I can’t really tell what is a baby movement and what is a contraction. My pelvis is so heavy, and I limp when I stand up until I get to a decent stride. The groin popping when I rotate in bed is the worst!
@karbaud same here to the heaviness, limping, and popping. A contraction will feel more like a tightening for a few seconds rather than a movement. One of the reasons I know I’ve dropped is not only the pressure, but also I can actually eat without being full from 3 bites and am always hungry. I ate 3 bowls of dinner last night and could’ve gone for more. It was so nice to be able to breathe and eat normally
Lol, I just wrote about most of this stuff in my weekly check in! I’m definitely wanting to feel this guy drop into my pelvis so I can breathe again, too. I’m really praying for an earlier arrival with this baby, our only boy who feels huge and really active to me, but I’m worried because both of our girls went past 40 weeks. That would SUCK and put me into mid-February for delivery. I’m also not sure either girl ever really dropped…
I wish I knew what Braxton Hicks really felt like, because I can’t tell what I’m experiencing most of the time. I can’t tell if he’s just doing moves and putting tons of pressure in weird spots (since he’s big, but not too big yet) or if it’s a sort of period-like cramp, a la Braxton Hicks. ???
I’m also having the super fun popping and limping and sometimes heaviness - it doesn’t seem to be consistent, though, and I’m hoping he hasn’t really dropped yet because it will be easier to turn him if he’s still floating. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking, though, because I’ve definitely been less short of breath lately.
If your whole tummy feels tight and hard, without pain that's probably Braxton Hicks. I was getting way more my 2nd trimester and not very often now. 🤷♀️
@cba85592 my baby is currently breeched with me being fully effaced. My OB has mentally prepped me with knowing labor could start any day now (hopefully it won’t, and I’m not dilated so that’s a good sign!). I’m having an ultrasound & NST today, and am scheduled for an external version procedure to try & flip the baby on 1/17 if he doesn’t flip on his own by then. If it fails then I’m scheduled for a c-section on 2/2. None of this was originally part of my birth plan but I’m trying to stay relaxed and flexible with this loss of control 😅
@cba85592 I was breech at 34+6, went for an ultrasound at 35+6 to confirm and schedule a version. And he flipped the night before 😂. So when they say there’s time, there really is, but I’d start checking on your options with your provider and hospital just to be prepared.
Now I’m just a little worried that he’s going to find a way to flip himself back, because he’s still really mobile and there have been some big movements that feel a little too similar to the flip… it would be unusual at 36+ weeks, but not impossible.
@seeds_of_joy I did! It’s support belts all the way right now! But my gosh this kid is a wiggler! 😂 he keeps stressing me out with it. I think I’ll feel better after tomorrow’s appointment, when I’ll definitely be asking them to just verify his position again.
@lucygracelaluz2020 I’m feeling the same. Everything sounds terrible but I’m hungry but no motivation to eat. I’m just planning for meals for my family like I normally would and forcing myself to eat it 😩
@lucygracelaluz2020 I’ve been feeling the same way too. Particularly with breakfast and snacks. Ive just been eating a lot of eggs because I can’t think of anything else. I’ve also been cooking extra to store away for the early postpartum period like Italian meatballs, chicken enchiladas, and marinated chicken. My next recipe to make is Moussaka.
Long results alert- Unfortunately, my NST & amniotic fluid ultrasound did not give us the results I was prepared for. We passed the NST with great success showing active responsiveness and movement, but the NST showed my amniotic fluid index was below a 7 (5, and 6.5- they did it twice) and the average AFI is from 25-5, so I’m in the very low range.
They reviewed everything with the on-call doctor (my OB is out of town for the next two weeks on vacation) and they discussed that because my AFI was so low I’m not a candidate for the external version to try and flip him from his breech position for a vaginal birth. They were so kind and reassured me that it wasn’t anything that I had done (or could do) to prevent low AFI, and that even doing my spinning and yoga poses wasn’t going to help him flip. They considered admitting me to the hospital for observation, which I really wanted to avoid, but the on call doctor thought it was ok for me to go home and to come back for more tests on Thursday morning. The med team walked me through all of the scenarios of what could happen on Thursday: my fluids could remain stable and he’s able to stay in there and I continue being closely monitored but I can leave, my fluids drop to below 5 and I have a c-section that day to take him out or have to be admitted for observations and potential surgery, or my fluids could hopefully rise (but they said this one is unlikely because there’s probably a reason it was so low in the first place, because I’m definitely not dehydrated).
So now, I’m basically just having the mindset of trying to keep him in there as long as possible and staying hydrated. Being happy and healthy is my mantra at that moment. That, and trying to prep now for an inevitable c-section and the recovery process at home, while moving into the one bedroom we have downstairs so I’m not trapped upstairs in our master bedroom, like Rapunzel, as I heal with the baby. Chaos theory really does happen sometimes, life finds a way 🤣
@kb1322 I'm sorry about your not great news but that's so awesome that you have such a positive mindset about it. Praying your baby is able to stay put a little longer and for the safety of both of you. ❤️
@cba85592 I was told that because my fluid level is so low there won’t be any flipping happening, spinning technique or manual version otherwise. It’s nothing that I did or could have prevented, I’m just one of the few with low fluid (there’s a possibility I was leaking fluid and thought it was just discharge, but change in discharge is common so it could have been easily overlooked). So I’m riding the wave until told otherwise!
@kb1322 I’m sorry things aren’t going to plan, but glad that you’ve it sounds like you’ve got a good team for you and your baby, and a little time to prepare for the C-section instead of having it be a surprise. Sending “stay put” vibes for your little guy and your amniotic fluid, and hoping for good (well, stable) news at your next appointment!
@kb1322 I’m sorry that you received difficult news that changes your plans. I’m glad you were able to go home and not staying the hospital. It’s much more comfortable that way. I hope things remain stable or improve for you. And if a procedure is done, I hope that it goes smoothly and you and baby remain happy and healthy.
@angbaby83 I'm sorry 😔 those are not fun things to deal with so close to your due date. Maybe try drinking some apple cider vinegar water with a little honey a few times a day. It might just clear out the UTI. Unfortunately it probably won't turn the baby though. I'm sure you've already tried all the tricks for that.
@angbaby83 ugh! So frustrating on so many levels. Are they doing a urine culture and sensitivity to make sure they are giving you the right antibiotic? Sometimes the antibiotic they give you is the right antibiotic but they need to keep you on the medication longer. Stay well hydrated. There is some evidenced based science that shows CranRx can help prevent UTI’s in the future. Same thing with D-Mannose. But you need to check with your provider that it’s safe to take with during pregnancy.
@ttc3y they are doing cultures. They said this time if it doesn’t go away they are just going to put me in an antibiotic until the end of pregnancy which doesn’t sound like fun. Hoping this round knocks it out. I ended up going back to the hospital last night because I was in so much pain and initially they weren’t going to do anything but I could hardly walk because of the pain. So they kept me and gave me fluids because I was dehydrated. Still feel the uti symptoms but I’m not in the horrible pain so I guess that’s good.
@angbaby83 that sounds awful. They weren't going to do anything?! They sound a wee bit incompetent... similar to our hospital. It's great if you need to get stitches or break something (we had those things happen a few times in our family this year) but not so good about serious internal things that need to be regarded as important.
@seeds_of_joy my ob just told me I needed to give the antibiotics 24 hours to work. I think partially the reason they kept me is because I started having contractions. I’m not sure what the pain was from but it was in my abdomen and back and I was doubled over. The pain is back in my back again today so who knows what’s going on🤷🏻♀️. Only a few more weeks of this hopefully…
@angbaby83 did they check your kidneys for infection? I've heard of that causing back pain too. I think pregnancy accentuates whatever issues we have. I've had my gallbladder issues worsen 3rd trimester too and it keeps me on my toes a bit.
@angbaby83 that’s miserable, and I hope you’re feeling better soon. @seeds_of_joy is right, back pain can definitely be from a kidney infection. I’ve been there, done that. If it’s constant and if it gets worse if someone taps it firmly, I’d be calling my doctor. It’s nothing to mess with, both for you and your baby. When I had one, it took IV antibiotics over a few days to mostly clear it, and then more time on oral antibiotics.
Also watch for any spikes in temperature, or if you already had a fever, if it’s not coming down. Nausea can also be a sign of a UTI turning into a kidney infection, although like back pain, it can be pregnancy-related, too.
@angbaby83 I’m sorry you’re going through that again! I hope this next round works for you!!
As badly as I want to have this baby naturally, It seriously hurts my pelvis to walk. I’m gonna go get my belly band out of storage and if that doesn’t relieve some of the pain I very well might get induced. I can’t walk around like this for 4 more weeks 😩
