Can’t sleep, so I figured I get a jump on these posts. Today I get to sign up for a spot at a teacher expo to interview for a new job for next school year!
@itsjess627 I’ve refreshed the page 100x since 7am and it’s still not posted. I’m annoyed 🤣 But I’m aiming for elementary special education. I co-taught kindergarten this year and enjoyed it but my son will be going into kindergarten so I don’t think I’ll be able to do that. But the younger the better for me
Thank you both! I thought this was just a sign up sheet to say you’re attending. Apparently it’s an application and they choose who they want to come to the expo 😳 I’m a little nervous but I’m hopeful I’ll get picked!
Anyone else easily annoyed by stupid things? Yesterday we got a check in the mail from someone from our medishare ministry (basically members pay each other's medical bills). Well this lady gave me unsolicited advice on a sticky note telling me "congratulations on your baby and here's what vitamins you should take 3rd trimester) having no idea that I'm already on 1000 supplements and I have a bunch of kids already. But then I laughed because I saw that her name was Tina Turner and if any of you lived through any of the 1980s, you know who Tina Turner is. That lightened my mood and made me wonder why I was so annoyed. And then I was glad that I'm taking 3 times the dose of what she was recommending.
Then this morning my MIL sent me a really friendly text about one day closer to meeting Willow. And I found myself irritated about that because sometimes she'll start out with small talk and work her way up to asking invasive questions. So I said "🥳" and then she responded with "😆💕" and I'm waiting on edge for something more. Then I realized...wow that wasn't offensive.
@seeds_of_joy hahaha yes! I’m with you. My son wanting to hug and kiss me is infuriating. And it shouldn’t be. Also, every time my husbands grandma FaceTimes I roll my eyes. When I know she just wants to see my son. She used to mispronounce this baby’s name until 3 of us called her out in front of everyone at thanksgiving (after correcting her for months). Now she says it right and I’m annoyed still haha
@seeds_of_joy my husband says I’ve been more grumpy lately lol 😂 I haven’t really noticed that but I have noticed being much more emotional. I cry pretty easy in general but it’s been worse these last few weeks.
Need to vent. Currently at the Dr. My husband was supposed to be here but he forgot he said he would pickup our nephew from school and of course its at the same time. And even though his mom works from home and she could have done it, she didn't want to upset her job (which is a 2nd job she doesn't need and actually complains about all the time). So I'm already agitated about that. Then I get to the Drs office and we switched insurance at my job so I give them my new card only to find out they don't take it. They take insurance from my provider just not the plan which I would have never known. I had a full on breakdown (mostly outside but it started while I was in the waiting room) 😭. The Dr overheard some of it and came out after me and talked me down and is going to see if she can get an exception from the insurance company since it's so close to when I'm due. I don't think it will happen so I will probably have to find a new Dr. I really don't want to start fresh this close but I don't really have a choice I guess.
@kamays54 I’m so sorry 😢 that’s super frustrating and overwhelming. Hopefully your dr will be able to get an exception. I was also told recently that insurance may say no to things the first time but to ask again because usually they’ll approve the 2nd time. Maybe that will help too.
@kamays54 oh that’s awful! I checked with my husband, because he’s a VP at an insurance company, albeit workers comp and commercial lines, not health insurance, and he’s usually got good insight into both the insurance side of things and the sales side (so the agents/brokers who connect businesses with their large group policies of all varieties). His first statement was that this is why he will never work in health insurance: they screw people over for profit way more often than any other type of insurance. Then he suggested calling your HR rep at work - sometimes they can help act as a go-between for insurance issues if your employer is a large enough account. An exemption for this situation isn’t an expensive thing for them to do but it is a hassle, so you need them to be trying to help out their actual client (your employer) rather than a single person.
Another option may be reimbursement rather than paying as an in-network claim, but that is very dependent on how your plan works. My old plan allowed that, but I switched to a lower deductible plan for 2023 because of the cost of birth so that wouldn’t be an option for me anymore.
@itsjess627@seeds_of_joy@fertile-turtle thanks ❤️. I'm doing a little better now. I'm going to wait to hear from my Dr and hope for the best. I work at a small business so we don't really have a true HR person. My boss, one of the owners, handles most of the HR and I help with all the basic stuff like the paperwork. We do work with a broker so she might be able to help. I just felt blindsided. I was in the meeting with my boss and the broker when we were deciding on insurance plans and it never came up that this is a "different" plan. I don't think my boss even knows. Basically it's Aetna but it's Banner Aetna. My Dr accepts Aetna but she isn't a Banner Dr so she doesn't accept Banner Aetna.
@kamays54 good luck! And it definitely may be worth contacting your broker if your doctor doesn’t have any luck - they build relationships with the companies they sell and can sometimes do a lot to smooth relationships between the insurance companies and their clients, including handling relatively small (on a corporate level) things like this. That’s what they make commission for, and why you don’t buy your company’s insurance directly without a broker.
It’s tough to be dealing with that unexpectedly at this late stage, and to be the one who handles these issues at your company. Hopefully, it’s resolved quickly and you have one less thing to worry about for the last few weeks!
First I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who listened and those who responded. I tried to call my best friend when this was all happening and she wasn't able to answer. I appreciate all of you and am so glad that I started getting involved in this group.
Just a quick update. I have not heard from my Dr yet but I called my insurance because I saw on their website that she is in-network. I spoke with a wonderful rep who not only confirmed that she is in-network but he also gave me so much information about how my new plan handles breast pumps, adding the baby to the plan, routine pediatrician visits, etc (we were on the phone for almost an hour). I will still wait to hear back from the Dr but he said if they say that they aren't covered I can call the insurance company back and they can talk through it with them. He thinks that they are confused by the Banner part but that if they accept Aetna there isn't a reason they won't accept my plan. I really hope that all of this is true because I was trying to find a new Dr last night and was getting so discouraged.
Again, thank you all for taking the time to listen!
@kamays54, I’m glad you are still covered! I was nervous about my appointment today because I also switched my Aetna plan. After hearing about your issues, I was thinking worst case scenario. Luckily, I had no issues. I’m glad you can stick with your current doctor!
My random is that I, apparently, have no idea how my body works. I just complained earlier that this baby may never drop. I’ve read how it should feel and what your belly would look like. While I have a lot of pelvic pressure, I don’t feel like I have a bowling ball down there. My belly hasn’t changed either. But, I just got back from my appointment. While checking my cervix, she could feel his head! Apparently, he’s engaged. I’m not dilated, but my cervix is thin. I just couldn’t believe that I had no idea! 🤦🏻♀️
@seeds_of_joy I think that's a good idea. I thought about that when @angbaby83 said she was in Labor & Delivery. How are you feeling by the way? Has the extra antibiotics helped?
If someone else wants to start it, go ahead. It's been almost half a decade since I've been on The Bump in this stage of pregnancy. Is there some sort of format to follow? 🤷♀️
I think my last one just had the “birth announcement” title and the description was something like “post your birth announcement here” then we had a separate one for birth stories
I went back and looked at all the groups back to October and only one had a post about “babies are here” or something like that. So I created two simple ones. Hope that’s okay 😊
@amcurls I think the reason there aren’t those threads is because the trend has been to move to a private group on here or a Facebook group before the babies come.
Also thanks for asking. I’m doing ok. I still had the uti at my doctors appointment so they gave me more antibiotic but I haven’t been feeling any symptoms so that’s good. 🙂
My last group on here from a few years ago started a small Facebook group, but barely anybody ever checks or uses it. Private groups on The Bump are okay, but this site has technical problems so often, I wouldn’t really bother…
On another random note, is anybody else’s grocery store having trouble getting restocked post-holidays? I feel like we’re still missing some basic things for no apparent reason.
@cpk3535 ahhh makes sense. I don’t really want to join a fb page for privacy reasons. But yes to the groceries! Cornstarch has become hard to get. And eggs have gotten really expensive and slim.
Yes! Eggs were wiped out at Costco and the regular grocery stores the other day, and butter has been oddly missing as well. I was wondering if it was just California’s weird new illegal big rig law going into affect…
@cpk3535 there’s a nationwide shortage of eggs because of the avian flu. I read how the state of CO reported needing to kill something like 6 million chickens because of it and the spread!
Good random- Target is having an online only sale for some baby equipment! 30% off on some strollers and baby seats. I might snag the infant size Graco again 👍
Operation Cloth Diapering is washed, prepped, and ready to go for baby. I categorized the diapers into 9 groups based on size, brand, and design. We are trying Prefolds, Pocket, 2 part diapers (inner diapers with outer covers) and All in Ones. I went over everything with my husband and we practiced on a Spaghetti Squash. 😂

Lol what the heck is wrong with me?
