Upcoming Appointments: Nov 23rd just a regular checkup every two weeks now
How are you feeling?: Overall feeling good
Rants/Raves: none at this time
Questions: GTKY favorite non children's book/author/genre: Lately I've been reading alot of romance novels. This is my first time posting (hopefully it all works!) as I would love to join the FB group migration. A little about me, I live in Vancouver Canada, 33, and this is my first pregnancy, very much looking forward to meeting the little guy or gal 💕
Baby is the size of a(n): zucchini? seems smaller than last week 😅
Team blue/pink/green: Blue
Upcoming Appointments: Nov. 22 checkup, Dec. 2 us
How are you feeling?: Keeping on. Tired and easily out of breath. A little antsy to have the house deep clean and nursery setup done but not enough energy to do everything I want to do.
Rants/Raves: I’m suspicious that lil guy could be sideways; at least once a day he kicks at my right side right between my hip and ribs pretty painfully! But a lot of the smaller movements are really low and more in the center. At least he lets me know he’s in there I guess 😅
Questions: natm GTKY favorite non children's book/author/genre: I’m a big fantasy reader and recently really enjoying R.F. Kuang’s books. Also been reading Emily Oster’s books for parenting and birth prep, really like the data-driven approach.
Baby is the size of a(n): an acorn squash according to someone who probably never saw an acorn squash
Team blue/pink/green: pink
Upcoming Appointments: next week OB
How are you feeling?: Good, although running is starting to get a bit uncomfortable which I really don't love.
Rants/Raves: Rave - feeling accomplished as I finally started pulling baby stuff out of the attic to sort through and clean and I forgot how many bins we have, but I definitely need to stop buying baby clothes! No rants
Questions: how soon are you planning on starting a hospital bag? (And how soon should we get a thread going for that?)
GTKY favorite non children's book/author/genre: primary reading mysteries lately, but I binged through all of Christina Lauren earlier in the year.
@willrunforcookies my goal is to have it done by 36 weeks. I’d be happy to start a thread for it if one doesn’t exist already when I get started on mine!
EDD / Weeks + Days: 33 weeks today
Baby is the size of a(n): celery
Team blue/pink/green: pink
Upcoming Appointments: Midwife Thursday
How are you feeling?: Definitely more tired, especially after lunch. I usually need a short nap.
Rants/Raves: We started the nursery demo yesterday, hooray! My dad is working on it and he’s determined to make it the best looking nursery for his first grandchild - it’s really sweet. We also picked a few paint samples. We’re going for sagey green walls and pink decor accents.
Questions: natm
GTKY favorite non children's book/author/genre: one of my all time fave books is The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult.
@willrunforcookies ooh, yes, a thread on hospital bag would be good! I’ve read somewhat, but would love to get some second+ time moms experience on what’s really useful or needed and when to have things ready.
Upcoming Appointments: Next week I start weekly NSTs and also I have an OB appointment.
How are you feeling?: Tired. I basically can’t make it through the day without nodding off at some point and my lower back and hips are really sore.
Rants/Raves: We are renovating our bathroom and it’s just been super annoying. Our only shower is gone and work has been going super slow. At this rate, baby will be here before our shower will be.
Questions: none.
GTKY favorite non children's book/author/genre: My friend recently got me into romance novels. I’m really enjoying low stress quick reads.
Upcoming Appointments: Tuesday Nov 22nd do regular midwife appt!
How are you feeling?: SOOOO good I got all my major big to-do lost items checked off and have been really putting my energy towards relaxing and enjoying the time I have left just as a family of 3 before baby girl arrives!!
Rants/Raves: the nursery is done aside from waiting for her dresser to arrive and be assembled and the bassinet needs to be put together but really those aren’t big things lol also the bathroom renovation turned out amazing! I am so so happy with it! We have literally been renovating for the last three years and are finally alarmist done everything lol
Questions: anyone else still struggling with names!? I feel so anxious not having a few solid ones my husband and I agree on yet! GTKY favorite non children's book/author/genre: I haven’t read diff un much in the past 5 years but when I do I always go for the romance!
@thankfullyamama we aren't decided on a name either, we have a couple that I think are in contention, but it's been a struggle to brainstorm agree, but we probably didn't have a solid agreement until 8 months with the first. If all else fails, our preschooler thinks we should name her baby Margaret. (Thanks, Daniel Tiger)
@willrunforcookies my toddler is adamant that baby girls name is “EMMIE” like my friend Emilie/ Emilia was a contender for a while until my husband decided one he hates it 🙄 maybe after he watches me push this baby out he will come back around to the name hahahha
How are you feeling?: stressed and tired. Our baby shower is this weekend and I have been planning it by myself. This is our 2nd but the 1st is a covid girl so we didn't get one with her.
Rants/Raves: My little girl is not very happy about all the baby gifts. She still believes she is the baby, which she is, but does not like that little brother is getting stuff and she can't play with it.😅
Questions: Any advice for making baby shower day go smoothly? I'm a perfectionist and know I can't be the one actually hanging stuff or moving tables.
GTKY favorite non children's book/author/genre: Honestly, I don't have time to read. Between schoolwork and the toddler.
@thankfullyamama Finding names we can agree on has honestly been the hardest thing. We had a relatively easy time with agreeing on my son’s name but somehow girl names have been impossible. He hates all the names I like and all the names he likes are names of girls that bullied me in school that I have really negative associations with. I think we finally have a short list we are both kinda like, but it’s been so hard getting to that point and neither of us really LOVE any of them. I feel like the longer we work on finding names, the more we are overthinking names which is also just making things harder.
@beccaneu OMG yes this! We actually had a little list we agreed on that has just diminished to nothing and now it’s hard to talk about names because we both get a little heated about how we don’t like what the other does do it’s been stressful! definitely not like the movies where the couple sits looking through a book for names happily lmao 😂
Baby is the size of a(n): Bunch of asparagus (it was zucchini last week and we had some BIG zucchini grow in our garden this summer so my son was all "whoa, that's a huge baby!" 😆)
Team blue/pink/green: Blue
Upcoming Appointments: Regular check-up on Nov 30. I've switched to appointments every 2 weeks now.
How are you feeling?: Fine. Not great but not awful either, just fine. I am counting down the days to not being pregnant anymore though.
Rants/Raves: I'm a little bummed that I haven't had a burst of energy to get all the jobs around here done. I did lots when I was pregnant with my first but I just don't seem to have it in me this time. And I can't even blame it on having a kid already that needs to be cared for since he's 10. He's easy. Lol.
Questions: None but we're also having issues with names. We thought we had one we loved but were just reminded that our son's previous teacher who is on mat leave named her daughter the same name. So now we're not too sure, especially my husband. We'll keep it on the list but we're kinda back to the drawing board. Ho hum.
GTKY favorite non children's book/author/genre: I love mystery/thriller and do read the odd fantasy book. I read ebooks so I can read on my tablet until I fall asleep (a bit of a crutch, but I'm good with it) and I also listen to audioboks since I'm in the car for 1.5-2 hours a day for work. Right now, I'm rereading "Odd Thomas" by Dean Koontz and listening to "Family Remains" by Lisa Jewell. As much as I hate my long commute, I will miss listening to my books while I'm on mat leave.
