I had my first near meltdown of this pregnancy today. I got so emotional I nearly cried in my car driving to pick up my daughter, because I knew I was going to have to do bedtime by myself. I have done bedtime by myself before, so I don't know why it was suddenly the end of the world. Pregnancy messes with your head.

@scaredunprepared I hear you on that! I am overly emotional for every single emotion! Luckily, husband has caught on and tries to keep me laughing or talk me down before get too irrational.

Also, baby is definitely sitting low and reorganized all my insides making sitting or bending a hassle! Standing is the most comfortable.

Lastly, lower back pain! Calling a prenatal chiropractor to get an adjustment because massages aren't working well enough.

@returning_bump_member I’ve had some uncomfortable lower back pain in the evenings after sitting on the couch or laying in bed. What is up with that? I need to do some research to see if it’s connected to the pregnancy. I’ve never had any back issues before.

@v_flowers I'm having the same kind of back pain. Everything I've seen seems to indicate this is pretty typical.

That horrible, metallic taste in my mouth returned a couple days ago and it’s persistent. I thought that was only a first-tri thing! Anyone else still dealing with that?

Also, not a symptom really but I think this is the best place to put it, who else are feeling movement at this point? I’m still in disbelief I started feeling it so early this time, since it took so long last time. I was closer to 25 weeks or so then. This time? I just felt several STRONG kicks with my hand, on the outside of my belly! How??

@etnyah this baby is definitely more active than my son was. I feel movement but not yet from the outside.

Argh, you guys, the itching is getting so annoying. I emailed my doctor about it this morning. We'll see what she says.

@etnyah whoa! Karate kid! Lol I have felt little flutters, but nothing that's stood out to me. I felt with my son at 13 weeks but then not again until 19 weeks. But nothing outside until maybe 30-32 weeks either time.

@acleverusername some itching is definitely to be expected as your skin stretches...but if it's really severe I would have cholestasis on your radar if it's not already. I had a friend with it, and my SIL had it for all 3 of her pregnancies. Don't want to alarm you, just wanted to mention it in case you had never heard of it before!

@nsk489 that's definitely on my radar (cause I'm a nerdy researcher 🤓), although my understanding is that cholestasis mostly occurs in 3rd tri, and also has itchy hands and feet as a symptom (which I don't have; although I itch pretty much everywhere else). Anyways, I think cholestasis is fairly easy diagnosed so I'm hoping that my doc orders some blood work so we can rule that out.

Update: my doctor sent me in for some blood tests. I got a call at 2:30pm, and the office clerk told me that doc wants me to do them today. No problem, I drive to the hospital (which is only 15 min away), and luckily there was no one in the lab, so I got taken in right away. But, then they tell me that 1/3 tests requires me to fast for 8 hours. So I got the other 2 done, but it's the 3rd test that actually tests for cholestatis (bile acid). So, I call the doctor's office back, and I'm on hold while the clerk is checking with the doc, and she comes back and says "she wants you to do that today" and I'm like "well, the lab wouldn't let me" after a few more minutes on hold, we decided I'll go back again tomorrow AM. Sigh. The phlebotomist told me the doctors don't know there's a 8-hr fast requirement for this test. Surely they do though? I dunno.

@acleverusername glad your doctor is so proactive! That’s annoying with the test though. In my experience (and I have a lot from when we were trying to figure out my son’s diagnosis), miscommunications and doctors not realizing the technicalities at the lab or other test facilities happens alllll time. And the technicians are used to it, but the doctors keep making the same simple errors over and over again. We got stuck like that a few times too, it’s super annoying.

I’m back with yet another weirdness, which, based on my Google searches, leads me to believe is dried colostrum. It’s dried off white bits right in the center of my nipple, and I can flick it off if I really pick at it.

Anyone else have this?

@acleverusername yes, I have that too and did with my first pregnancy as well. Hope you get your blood results soon!

I had a nosebleed last night and woke up with a horrible Charlie horse / muscle cramp in my calf this morning. Despite my stretching, my calf has been tight all day. I’m scared of waking up with another one. Both of these happened in my first pregnancy and they were awful.

ETA: Also, forgot to add that my ankle swelled up big time last night. I remember it happening in third Tri but not this early. I wonder if it’s related to the Charlie horse (same leg)? 🤷‍♀️ I also got my flu shot yesterday and drank a TON of water per medical advice so maybe I had too much lol?

@ladyofarlington ahhh Charlie horses are the worst! I had those all the time last time, not until a bit later though. Haven’t had one yet. Definitely going to do my best to stay hydrated in third-tri, I keep forgetting to drink water and I’m sure that makes it worse.

@acleverusername I definitely have dried colostrum too. It started a few weeks ago for me, and I thought my nipples were already getting dried and cracked. Later realized it was coming off and it wasn't dry skin at all.

@ladyofarlington try the Calm magnesium powder to put in your water. That helped numerous pregnancy symptoms (staying regular, restless legs, migraines) last pregnancy! 😊

Definitely have the does colostrum and itchy nipples. Insomnia is revisiting me as of late! Ex trying my dam damndest to not gain a a shit ton of weight this time around.

Having another boy! I felt flutters a few times but nothing serious- I feel like he is lower than my other boy was. I'm a tad grouchy but aside from itchy nipples and such, I feel pretty dang good 👍

I had a super strange sensation tonight while lying in bed. At first it felt like a slight rippling sensation in my lower stomach. I put my hand on the area where I felt the sensation and noticed firm bulge that seemed to disappear after a few seconds. I didn’t have any pain, but what I experienced doesn’t seem to align with fetal movements from what I’ve read online. So I’m a little worried.

For reference, I’m 17w4d, which seems very early to be able to feel the baby. I may give my doctor’s office a quick call to ease my nerves. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

@v_flowers my guess is fetal movement, everyone describes it differently! A kind of slow, firm bulge that disappears could be baby shifting position/rolling around, which feels different than kicks. Contact your doctor if you’re worried at all of course, but it sounds like your little one is just trying to get comfortable to me.

@v_flowers fluttering, bubbles, popcorn popping etc. are early kicks, but the big movements are totally different from those. I think maybe it’s common to feel the tiny kicks first? Definitely not always though!

@acleverusername how frustrating. I have found that my doctors (Except my OB, obviously) forget Iam pregnant even though it's right there in my chart if they bothered to look. My surgeon initially prescribed me meds that were not safe during pregnancy. Good thing I reminded her! Seems like doctors could bother to do these simple things like checking patient charts and telling us whether fasting is required for bloodwork.

@v_flowers I second what others have said, sounds like baby moving! Though I guess it could have been a muscle spasm.

@scaredunprepared I’m beginning to think it was movement as well. I’ve emailed my doctor to just be safe, but since this is my first pregnancy, I honestly have no idea what the baby’s movement should feel like.

@v_flowers that sounds like some of the movement I’ve been feeling. I think it’s probably baby stretching out.

My symptom: I have been having the weirdest dreams every night for like 2 weeks now. They are all like full length movies and many are including people I’m no longer friends with.

I think I’ve finally felt that elusive “fluttering and bubbles.” I went looking on r e d d i t last night about when others with anterior placenta started to feel movement and it’s just about this time, 19+ weeks. It was so strange when I first felt it last night; then again today afternoon. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

My pelvic floor has become absolute trash recently. Apparently all the pelvic floor therapy I did after having my son isn't helping. Everytime I sneeze (which is a lot recently) I pee a little....so yay. Pregnancy is so glamorous.

@iiirene omg the dreams are insane for me too! Last week, one night featured pirates and sea monsters (I did not watch any pirate movies in a long time) and last night, there was a musical involving a university sports team(s). 🤯

@acleverusername I thought i had felt little flutters like 13/14 weeks and now I'm feeling nothing, which of course has me paranoid. I wish I was feeling things at least somewhat consistently. And I don't even think I have an anterior placenta! Though with my son I did and around 19 weeks is when I started feeling him.

@acleverusername they didn't say anything about it this time, so I'm assuming posterior. Last pregnancy it was anterior and they told me so I wouldn't worry if I didn't feel baby as soon.

I definitely have dried colostrum as well. I’ll feel my nipples tighten up and tingle at times and then I’ll notice more of it. I’ve been having this for a while honestly so I’m hoping it’s a good sign for milk production later. I also now have veiny boobs haha.

My skin is so freaking dry now which sucks most places but actually allows me to go longer without washing my hair so that’s nice. Also is anyone still getting sick or are all of you now in that elusive ‘honeymoon stage’ of pregnancy? However there is one not so terrible symptom… I’m having sleep orgasms multiple times per week haha. I’ve had them before but never at this rate.

My indigestion has been horrible this week so I'm trying to watch what I eat to prevent it. Also, I assume it's sciatica pain already creeping in at 16 weeks. I'm going to try to get a referral from my OB for Physical Therapy to try to help it.

After talking with my doctor, she seems pretty convinced that I’m having Braxton Hicks contractions. My anxiety is now at an all time high. I know that they are considered normal, but noticing them at 18 weeks is really scary.

@acleverusername She didn’t seem too concerned. I was encouraged to monitor them, stay hydrated, and contact the office if any new symptoms emerge. Now I’m like three pages deep on Google. My poor husband is doing his best to keep me from doom spiraling.
