I’ve had it done twice. With my first it didn’t work, with my second I had 24 hours of prodromal labor before going into actual labor 2 days late (3 days after sweep). If your body is ready a sweep can nudge it into action. If not, it won’t do anything. Some people think they hurt, I thought it was just uncomfortable. If you’re looking to trigger labor nothing worked as well as walking, walking, walking, walking…

I had it done at 39 weeks and my son was born 3 days later. I don't know how much the sweep helped with that, but I was soooo uncomfortable I would have tried anything to get labor going. It hurt a bit, but only for a couple seconds - totally worth it.
This is my 1st pregnancy and yes I've had a sweep done yesterday. I'm currently 38 weeks and 5 days. I am losing some of my mucus plug. No contractions yet. Just very tired. So will see.
I had a sweep done with my second just before due date; I think the appt with the ob was at 10:00am, baby was born by 9:30 pm that day! I did not find it to be anything more than mildly uncomfortable for a moment.
That said, my friend had it performed twice in the same pregnancy and nothing happened. So like previous commenters have said, just depends on how ready your body is.
