  • FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

    EDD / Weeks + Days: April 10/ 5 weeks

Team blue/pink/green: we will find out

Upcoming Appointments: Aug 30-fist appointment, ultrasound, meeting with midwife

How are you feeling?: Still pretty good! With my son I didn’t have morning sickness but evening sickness. I thought it was interesting that my grandma said she has the same with my mom and aunts. I have been feeling queasy in the evenings again.

Rants/Raves: I started my new job today! We had a sort of meet and greet with staff and some of the children/families. All very lovely people.

    Questions:

GTKY: I already miss beer, which is super weird because I’m not a huge drinker. I am really craving an IPA
  • FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 4.5.23, 5w5d

    Team blue/pink/green: finding out

    Upcoming Appointments: not for weeks

How are you feeling?: okay! symptoms are increasing which makes me feel better mentally, but it’s getting challenging to work and parent. I have to pee all the time, low-key nauseous and so, so tired.

Rants/Raves: made it through a weekend at the ILs without them finding out! H joined me in not drinking so we just told them we’re cutting alcohol for a while to improve our health. Next time we see them will be after my US at 10 weeks, if things look good I’ll be comfortable telling them then.

    Questions: nothing right now.

GTKY: What food/drink item will you miss most in pregnancy? Wine, beer, margaritas. I got some non-alcoholic beer and it tastes like ass.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: April 7 / 5+3

Team blue/pink/green: we will find out if all goes well 🤞🏻

Upcoming Appointments: first US on 8/17 but could be earlier because…

How are you feeling?:  currently riddled with anxiety after a brief stint of bleeding while traveling out of state on Saturday & a follow up with a local OBGYN today who left a lot to be desired. I am hoping my dr will see me as soon as I get back later this week to confirm whether or not my pregnancy is viable.

Rants/Raves: pregnancy after loss is just so damn hard. Ugh.

GTKY: What food/drink item will you miss most in pregnancy? WINE! Gosh I miss it so much already.
  • FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

    EDD / Weeks + Days: ?? 5ish weeks

Team blue/pink/green: definitely green again this pregnancy

Upcoming Appointments: 1st appt is 8/23 with my OB's office care coordinator, will have my 1st appt with my OB scheduled sometime after that

How are you feeling?: good! Starting to lose my appetite though

Rants/Raves: currently on vacation with my entire family (me, husband, son, my 3 siblings + spouses + kids, parents, and grandparents). 19 of us total! It is the best chaos and I have missed this so much. It's the 1st time my older sister has gotten to meet my 14 month old!!! And I told my family today that I am expecting (even though it is still early, they would have figured it out). So it's an emotional week (in the best way though)

    Questions: natm

GTKY: What food/drink item will you miss most in pregnancy? Coffee and orange juice (still drinking both but last pregnancy my heartburn was so bad I had to give them both up 😭). And also wine of course
  • Sounds like we’re all missing booze already 😆

@dogmom512 I’ll be thinking of you. I hope your doctor can get you in early.

@nsk489 I forgot about the heartburn! It was awful for me in the third trimester
  • @dogmom512 I hear you re: PG after loss.

@etnyah if you haven't tried it already, I recommend Athletic Brewing beers (NA) They are quite delicious.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: April 2 / 6 +1

    Team blue/pink/green: TBD

Upcoming Appointments: 1st ultrasound on Wed.

How are you feeling?: I've had a few anxiety episodes in the last week, so I've been having to work really hard to manage those. It's just so hard not knowing what's happening inside your uterus. Argh.

Rants/Raves: I had a few really good days at work. Although I'm passively looking for another opportunity, I'm still quite happy with my current job and days like today just makes me not want to look, but I'll keep on passively searching anyways.

Questions: Is anyone having any drinks at all? I'm allowing myself 1 glass of wine a week (and luckily my H isn't being a hard ass about it after I read to him the research cited in Expecting Better).

GTKY: What food/drink item will you miss most in pregnancy? Wine and a rare steak.

  • @acleverusername the anxiety is so tough. I know it’s a long way off but, at least for me,  once you start feeling the baby move a lot of the anxiety lifts.

I think I might allow myself a few occasional drinks in the second trimester. I have a wedding at a winery at the end of this month and I might have a glass there. I’m also reading Expecting Better.
  • @iiirene thank you, I’ll check it out! I’m not drinking any wine because it’s just easier to cut it out entirely for me. And even though I know rationally one occasional glass is safe, the paranoid side of me would still worry.

I did have a few sips when my MIL was staying here to help out while H was on a trip (mostly to keep the secret, we like to share a bottle occasionally). I asked her if we should get some wine, we did, and the next day I got a positive test, ha. I think that was it for the next few months for me though.

    STM!

    EDD 4/12 or 4/13 based on LMP : 4w, 6d

Team healthy baby! We will find out the sex and *might* keep it a secret.

    1st U/S is Friday 8/26 - 17 days… not that I’m counting or anything 😊

    Feeling pretty good!

Rants / Raves: TBD - may come back and edit later 😉

Questions: Anyone else flat out lie to a friend when they asked you if you were pregnant? I feel a little guilty about it but was also shocked to have been asked (a DAY after getting confirmation from my OB!). Is it really that obvious by not having a glass of wine? And FTR I also love Emily Oster’s books and was thrilled to learn the evidence on drinking during pregnancy AND caffeine consumption during pregnancy.

I especially loved the part when she said something like drink like a European, not a fraternity brother haha. I’ll likely have an occasional glass of wine once I’m in the second trimester. We went to Malta and Italy on our first babymoon and my OB literally said she would be disappointed if I came back and didn’t tell her what my favorite Italian wine was haha! 🤣

The food I’ll miss most is soft imported cheeses, but it’s totally worth it!

    TTM!
    EDD / Weeks + Days: 4/18, so 4 weeks
Team blue/pink/green: I'm thinking if staying Team Green this pregnancy, I couldn't even imagine it with #1 and 2, but it remains to be seen if I can hold out.
Upcoming Appointments: Thursday for repeat bloodwork
How are you feeling?: Emotionally surprised and excited, physically nauseated and cramps
Rants/Raves: I was complaining to a friend from my previous BMB about how the symptoms of early pregnancy overlap with the symptoms of Upcoming period and it was unfair that I had them all!
GTKY: What food/drink item will you miss most in pregnancy? Probably sushi. I don't eat it often, but love it when I do. And fall beers. I was an IPA snob for several years, and came back around to the-maltier-the-better this spring, so it's unfortunate that we are coming up on the best season for them when I'll have to decline. But I wouldn't trade it, of course. I'll stay alcohol and caffeine-free for the pregnancy, so not looking forward to the caffeine withdrawal coming tomorrow.
  • @ladyofarlington I LOVE your OB. Lol. I'm going to ask my OB specifically tomorrow. But I'm also a super research nerd, so I know the data having read studies myself.

  • FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

    EDD / Weeks + Days: April 14- 4w4d

    Team blue/pink/green: green for now

    Upcoming Appointments: haven’t scheduled yet.

How are you feeling?: just feeling slightly “off”, definitely haven’t been as hungry as usual. Peeing frequently and slightly sore boobs.

Rants/Raves: Work has been 🤪 the past few days and my mind is clearly elsewhere so I need things to slow down a bit so I can focus🤣

GTKY: What food/drink item will you miss most in pregnancy?
Nothing I can think of! I don’t like sushi, soft cheeses, or beer. I do like wine but it won’t be hard for me to give it up for the duration of the pregnancy. I won’t give up caffeine, but I will keep it under the recommended limit.
  • FTM/STM/TTM+:  stm

    EDD / Weeks + Days: april 13, 5 weeks

Team blue/pink/green: part of me loved the idea of another girl, but I'd also love a baby boy. I just want this baby lol

Upcoming Appointments: first appointment on August 24th, hoping they at least do a quick scan like they did with my first

    How are you feeling?:
So far not too bad. Still exhausted all the time, my books have been pretty sore. Nausea still comes and goes and isn't bad...yet

Rants/Raves: I wanted to wait to tell our family when everyone is together next weekend for my daughter's birthday but my husband just can't keep it in. So everyone knows. And certain individuals aren't exactly excited so that kind of sucks the joy out a bit

    Questions: not today!

GTKY: What food/drink item will you miss most in pregnancy?
So far, beef jerky and soft cheeses. Those are some of my go to snacks. I already had to cut gluten a while back so now it's just like what is there to even eat lol. Haven't had much of an appetite anyway

  • @dogmom512 That sounds so difficult. I hope you are able to see your regular OB soon, and that your anxiety gets a little better. I've had a couple losses, and I don't think I'll be able to relax until I'm out of the first trimester.

@nsk489 I'm losing my appetite too! Nothing I am allowed to eat ever sounds appetizing when I'm pregnant.

@acleverusername I loved Expecting Better. It made me feel a lot better about caffeine, sushi and deli meats. Like @etnyah, I find it easier to just not drink, although I'll miss it!

@ladyofarlington: I'm pretty sure everyone will know about my pregnancy as soon as I decline a drink. It's annoying, isn't it? I'm not great at keeping secrets, though, so I'll probably tell people pretty soon anyways.

@nonlinear_function Respect for giving up caffeine! I probably should, since I drink too much coffee, but I'm not ready😭

@maggied26 Sorry to hear people aren't being as supportive as they should. That's hard!

    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

    EDD / Weeks + Days: April 23/ 3w4d

Team blue/pink/green: If I could find out today, I would! I'm hoping my insurance will cover all the early testing since I'm technically geriatric, and that I can find out sooner.

Upcoming Appointments: None yet. I need to call my OB, but his office staff is literally the worst, so I'm putting it off.

How are you feeling?: Nauseated and tired. The nausea started a day or two ago, and has been getting worse. I need to go get some ginger candies and peppermints.

Rants/Raves: I'm pretty sure my children can sense weakness. I haven't felt great this morning, and it feels like they have been alternating between spilling things on the floor, whining, and running around the house yelling at the top of their lungs, lol.

Questions: Anyone else interested in working on their fitness during pregnancy? Maybe a weekly thread (Fitness Friday?)? I've been trying to lose some extra weight, and had gotten halfway there. I know I'll have to adjust some, but I want to keep up the healthy changes I've made.

GTKY: What food/drink item will you miss most in pregnancy? Like most of you, wine. Alcohol is really the only thing I plan to cut out. I'll try to use moderation for the rest.
  • edited August 2022
@abbsters-2 Love the idea of a Friday Fitness thread!
  • Definitely interested in prenatal fitness and strengthening my core/preparing for labor and delivery. If I find any good core workouts/links I’ll plop them here !
  • I'd love to know more about prenatal fitness too! I'm looking for some sort of workout plan or something to follow because I'm not super confident in the gym!
  • I'm definitely not very knowledgeable or confident either! I honestly just started working out (for the first time in years🙊) a few months ago.

@babitobebe That's a great point about strengthening your core for labor!
