    We told my sister and brother pretty early in the pregnancy. Mainly because my husband works for my brother and with all the doctor appts, it was kind of obvious. We told my sister because she lives 5 minutes away from us, in case of any emergency when my husband is traveling for work. 
    We announced to my mom on Valentine’s Day with a fake lottery ticket. The prize said “We are having a baby”. She loved it and is extremely happy. 
    We will be announcing to my MIL and FIL this weekend at my FIL’s birthday celebration. At our last ultrasound, we asked the tech to write “Happy Birthday Grandad” on one of the printed photos. We bought a cute frame and plan on giving it to him as a birthday present. 
    I’m not sure when we will be announcing it on social media. Im not ready for that quite yet.

    mk2022x I love this! Absolutely adorable. We told close friends and family fairly early because we knew we would need their help and support if things went wrong along the way. I think we'll announce more widely after NIPT results, but I haven't figured out how I want to share the news.
    First time mom-to-be, due 9/25/22

    Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!

    So I forgot to pack the big sister t-shirts for my girls to tell MIL about the new baby. My husband is like well how are we going to tell her now??? I said, well you could just tell her. I'm sorry I'm not doing everything and she's your mother you figure it out. I came up with the cute idea for him with the shirts.

    @jhysmath that’s frustrating! If it was such a big thing for him, he should’ve double checked you had them. That’s not on you! Also, they’re (hopefully) going to be excited no matter what. They won’t be upset they didn’t get a cute announcement they didn’t even know about. 

    My husband and my dad both guessed before I had a chance to give them their shirts. They were still both happy about the news!

    Hey friends! I’m a little worried about telling my work about the pregnancy because it’s such a busy time right now (March is really chaotic), but I feel like the doctor appointments are getting pretty obvious and I also want to give notice in a timely manner! Am I overthinking this? Is there an etiquette to this kind of thing? I don’t want to add stress to an already busy time but at the same time I’d love for my work friends to know/ would love to stop keeping this secret.

    My principal asked me at 5 weeks and I lied straight to his face. September is a terrible time to have a baby when you're a teacher so definitely not looking forward to telling him.

    @jhysmath shucks about forgetting the shirts! At least she will be excited. My MIL cared for approximately 3 seconds and then changed the subject.

    @ciscothedog2018 There with you on the worry! Right now is completely fine, but my repeat C-section is probably going to be scheduled about 2 weeks before our companies annual user conference, which is our biggest event of the year. Oops. At this point I figure though it’s probably better to do it sooner rather than later so they have time to plan around it.

    @dsmith211 & @jhysmath thanks for responding! I know it’s so complicated! And yes @jhysmath , the fall is pretty busy too (I work at a school also but I don’t teach) so I’m sure they’ll be annoyed no matter when I tell them! Ultimately I keep saying I’m thrilled and that’s what’s important but I’m such a people pleaser that I’m in such a tizzy over this 😂  and that’s a good point about giving them time to plan around it @dsmith211!

    I told my job (school, but not a teacher) after I signed my 22-23 contract. My boss asked if I’d decided about dates for FMLA, but beyond that was very excited for me and has called weekly since to check on how I’m feeling. I decided to tell her because I was tired of keeping the secret and we had a good 12 week ultrasound.

    I need to tell my job soon, but I'm anxious because I started working here in October 2021 and to qualify for FMLA you need to have worked for 12 months but I'll have only worked here for 11 months. I'm fairly confident HR will be flexible, but we'll see!

    Both our parents live out of state, we have no plans to visit either of them anytime soon, so we sent them these fake lotto scratcher tickets (my FIL loves scratchers) where you win a prize and the prize says "We're having a baby" lol
    I was going to call my parents up and tell them but I thought this would be funnier cause they'd be so confused why we sent them scratchers. 
    Other than that we're going to call our siblings up after parents find out and then I was going to tell my grandma after all that. Once she finds out the word will spread like wildfire. lol 

    Neither of us have any social media, so everything will be done the old fashion way haha

    I'm really bummed. We announced to MIL and BIL Tuesday. My 3 year old announced to daycare today oops. I'm going to have to tell my principal on Monday as she goes to preschool at our school with his grandson. I tried getting my mom and sister to meet me for lunch tomorrow  (30 minute drive for them, hour drive for me) so I could tell them. My sister says she's going skiing with my niece, my mom doesn't like driving or doing anything without my sister in tow these days, and tells me she's been having tooth pain and can't eat anything but soup so she's really not feeling up to it. I tried using the excuse I need someone to handle the kids so I can get my wedding rings resized, or that we could go shopping for spring clothes, she loves shopping, and all a no.

    Now I don't know if I say screw telling them in person and have the 3 year old face time them, or basically have my family be the last to know.

    @jhysmath what a pain! Not quite the same, but when my husband and I decided to tell a handful of folks we got voicemails on 3/4 of the calls we tried to make. It's so frustrating to have something to tell people and not be able to get in touch! You'll have to let us know how it plays out, I hope you're able to share the excitement with some of your loved ones sooner rather than later.

    @lalarose22 thank you! And our couch is from Ashley home furniture- it comes in a larger sectional too. I think the one we got is 98 inches by 98 inches, but it’ll go up a whole extra seat on either side. It came with all the pillows too which was nice.

    Current pregnancy -
    First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

    Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
