Bleeding at 5 weeks, what is your experience?

Having bleeding and cramping at 5 weeks pregnant. Ultrasound saw hemorrhage adjacent to gestational sac. I passed one clot and nothing since. Anyone have this and baby was ok? First time pregnant and I’m worried. I had HCG drawn but won’t get results until tomorrow. 😢

  • I’m 5 weeks and spotting started today. What I don’t understand is they say it could be implantation but doesn’t that happen before a positive test?! Been mildly cramping since I found out a week ago. Idk. Praying. 😕

  • Ok… username didn’t save and idk how to delete.
  • @kawilson94Gosh, that’s so tough. I’m sorry. Bleeding does such a number on your nerves.

I started spotting about 4 or 5 days ago. I spotted bright red blood two days in a row in the morning and since then every once in a while I’ll have normal discharge that’s just slightly tinted pink.

I’ve been testing daily (pregmate test strips are the bomb for this!) and my second line has gotten darker so I think I’m okay. My labor and delivery nurse friend said this early on you’ll usually get a negative test within a few days to 1 week, but the only way to know for sure is bloodwork.

Sending you lots of love. I know it’s scary.

Same thing happened to me and I was confused about the same thing. Did some research and it said at that point in your pregnancy normal bleeding can be caused by a couple different things and isn’t necessarily cause for concern, but definitely worth paying attention to.
  • I experienced spotting in week 4 and my gynecologist prescribed me progesterone tablets. Sometimes low progesterone can cause spotting.
  •  Rising HCG and positive test can still happen way before implementation. If you are experiencing bleeding I would call your OB to check in. I recently had an ectopic and was experience rising hcg and positive test the whole time. Extreme pain and cramping is what led me to the ER twice to finally get the right diagnosis that ended up with tubal removal. Not to be alarming but if you are in pain I would call and advocate!
