First Appointment

Hello everyone! I am almost 10 weeks pregnant with our first & when I called the doctor at 5 weeks to set up an appointment they told me that they would see me when I was about 10 weeks... (Not even coming in for a blood test or to pee in a cup) Well they didn't have any appointments that week so I have to wait until I am 11 weeks almost 12 weeks before they will even see me. So in a week, I have a Zoom appointment one day then the next day I go in to see the doctor. Is anyone else's doctor doing this? What should I expect? I just wish I could have gotten in earlier just so I know things are going well!

    I’ll be 10w 3d for my first appointment next Tuesday! I’m with you, I definitely wish I’d gotten in earlier to see if everything’s ok!! I had a pre-appointment call a couple weeks ago where they collect some history and give you some general pregnancy advice (caffeine, exercise, etc.).

    The urine tests at the doctor’s are basically the same as the ones we use at home, so if you’ve gotten an obvious positive at home you can trust it!

    Hi! I was 9 weeks and2 days when I had my first phone appointment this week on Wednesday. I felt like to wait forever (I called when I was 4 weeks but it’s the earliest I could see anyone). 

    I was pleasantly surprised though as I got blood work and urine test done yesterday and my ultrasound today so it all moved really well. I also could have done the genetic testing yesterday but i opted to wait until 10 weeks when it is apparently more accurate.

    hang in there! I hope things move quickly for you once the ball gets rolling.

    Thank you so much! Makes me feel better that I am not the only one feeling like this wait is taking forever! I find myself taking getting more impatient the closer the appointment gets! Hopefully, this next week will go buy fast!

    Glad I’m not alone! I’m roughly 7 weeks and the doctor didn’t want to see me until after 10 weeks, I’ll probably be about 11 for my first ultrasound. So hard to wait , I keep worrying something could be wrong! I have a preliminary phone call tomorrow but still hard to wait until my first real apt.

    I am finally down to a week away! & I find myself getting more and more anxious the closer I get! Unfortunately, I won't get an ultrasound but hopefully, they can hear a heartbeat to give me peace of mind! I hate that I have had to wait 11.5 weeks just to know everything is going well like why can't they get me in at 8 weeks then again at 11! ugh hang in there!

    The struggle for first appointments has been crazy ! Finding an ob with soon availability that is still practicing ob was surprisingly difficult and then most weren't available for months out. I talked to a few, only one wanted to do a virtual appt even though I was already confirmed pregnant at that hospital (er visit) but others wanted me to go in person for the first appt to confirm pregnancy. Most were actually open to seeing me at 8 weeks but my first appt with an ob I actually like will be at 10 weeks. If you really want an ultrasound before then, I actually went to a pregnancy care clinic that offered free ultrasounds so that was really nice😊
