@wiseh OMG ANATOMY SCAN BUDDIES! I have my 20-week immediately after.
@leannechristina I am 18w today and it told me sweet potato too. Like ok, some are single serving sized while others can give me three meals - terrible comparison!

𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝘁/𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲/𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗸/𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻: Finding out in two weeks! Baby's Name (if chosen): Gimme two weeks. If it’s a girl… yeah pretty much.
𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Anatomy scan and 20-week on May 13th
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: I am finally growing a bit of a bump but don’t think I can feel anything yet. I’ve been tired and not getting enough sleep, so that sucks. Otherwise, I’m feeling fine. Hungry, so hungry. My brain keeps eating my words and switching them for adjacent/adjacent-sounding words.
𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Baseball got cancelled today which means I get a full class for my dual credit English two days in a row. I’m going to savor it. Thank you for being rainy, Oregon❣️I can keep raving about my husband every week lol… also, our dog is making really good behavior progress. I think we’re coming up on 8 months with her.
𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: What does it mean to “pop” and how quickly does it usually happen once you start showing?
𝗚𝗧𝗞𝗬: What's the coolest thing you own? Jeez, good question. It’s technically my husband’s but we own a Piper Colt two-seater airplane. We are finishing up building/improving a sand rail project we bought last year. We also finally own our 2004 Rage’n Toy Hauler because we sorted out a whole deal, and we converted the garage ramp so it can be suspended as a deck. I’m also a huge fan of my huge Fiskars loppers; I feel like a badass when I use them.
@laj0217 Dolly (our cat) sleeps with us every night has since she was a baby. When my son was a newborn he slept in a bassinet in my room for 8 months and we kicked her out at night. She was fine! She adapted and got lots and lots of cuddles outside of bedtime. I’m planning to kick her out again when this little girl is born, it’s temporary and I also was a worry wart post partum so it was nice not having to worry about her sleeping on a baby.
@newbabymama27 jealous! Our local grocery store sells them, but they're terrible. I'd have to go further afield for good croissants, and I'm frankly too lazy just now.
@leannechristina thanks for the compliment! I love my UTV, but the paint job really is ridiculous and I know it. The 4-seat RZR looks great, I hope you have tons of fun! You definitely have me beat for "fun things to do with a mud truck/UTV," I've done a bit of off-roading and spent a bunch of time zooming around the desert, but nothing all that exciting.
@babywiik yeah, there's some weird wives' tale about how cats will suck the life out of your baby, it comes up weirdly often and drives me nuts! There are plenty of good reasons to be cautious with pets and babies, I don't see why people feel the need to make up dumb reasons, too. :P We spent a summer years ago fostering litters of kittens, and kept 2 from our last litter. We also have chickens and dogs, so I'm clearly all for having (careful, supervised) kids and pets in the same household.
First time mom-to-be, due 9/25/22
Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!
@pangolindrome when you "pop" it's pretty sudden. I had some extra around my middle since my last pregnancy so I already looked a bit pregnant but I could hide it easier/suck in in the mornings but by evening no way. Not exactly sure when it happened (20+3 now) but now I've definitely got a bump in the mornings too and have to wear maternity shirts.
@lilienne I'm not a "pink girl" either, but I do have to say that paint job makes a badass statement on such a beast of a machine. I love it!
I would love to be able to ride in the desert! It's on my list. We're in MN so we don't get much of that wide open unless it's a field. The sandpits along the trails out here are fun, but the trails in WI are the best. In October we took a minimoon out to Deadwood, SD with 4 other couples - it was SO pretty! It's nice to get a change of scenery.
@pangolindrome It's like all of a sudden your abdominal muscles say "fuck it, let's stop trying" and poof, your bump looks bigger over night. It doesn't necessarily happen that way for everyone though - some people are just slow but steady growers.
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
Baby's Name (if chosen): No official first name yet (though I'm leaning hard toward Theo). Middle name after my maternal grandpa, Jerome.
𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: May 4 OB and 20-week U/S
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Other than the past 2 days' migraine, very good. BMs have become somewhat regular and I have a HUGE appetite the first half of the day. Feeling some sciatica coming on occasionally so am going to get regular appointments with my chiropractor.
𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: NATM

𝗚𝗧𝗞𝗬: What's the coolest thing you own? Probably our home. It's our second family home and I never want to move. We have a little slice of privacy on the Mississippi river, on a tributary (or lagoon as my husband calls it) and are absolutely in love with all the wildlife and quiet. The back deck/patio is my favorite spot when the weather is nice, just sipping my wine or coffee and listening to nature. Being able to launch a kayak from the backyard is amazing! Will edit to add a pic when I'm on my mobile app.
@mnmomma84 your property sounds perfect and looks amazing! Super jealous 😍 we also enjoy the quiet since we’re in a rural area with 2 acres of land and very few nearby neighbours, but i so wish our property had more greenery like yours and the river access would be a bonus. Unfortunately there were two other families that owned this house since 2012 and neither cared about landscaping so we have some mediocre grass but no trees or shrubs. We’ve been planting dozens (even hundreds last year) to make a hedge around the property but it’s pricey so we only buy seedlings and it’ll take a while for everything to grow.
@babywiik@kboydbowman Thank you. I worked my abs/core strength a lot before we got doggo and I’ve been trying to keep them engaged during forest walks… so I am curious to see what impact that has. I also read from some people on here that having an anterior placenta can impact how you show, like it not being as firm/pronounced?
I’m counting on being “doubtlessly pregnant” by Memorial Day for sure, either way, and choosing to be positive about it.
@pangolindrome I started getting a bit of a bump around 16 weeks and last week when I was about 19 +2 my muscles were getting really sore and I was just so uncomfortable for a day or two. Then BAM I woke up and I had a bump. I think I was having some growing pains and my bump was really pronounced over night.
I have an anterior placenta and I would say I am pretty firm and now pretty pronounced.
@pangolindrome oh my gosh, my husband would be so jealous! He keeps talking about getting his pilot's license, but so far hasn't actually gone for it. (I don't know how I missed your comment the first time around!)
@mnmomma84 so sorry to hear about the migraine, that just sucks! I love the picture of the river and your property, what a gorgeous view.
@leannechristina you're absolutely right - if I'm going to own something bright pink, it had better be a powerhouse of a UTV. And riding in the desert is so fun, you should definitely do it if you get the opportunity! I think one of my favorite moments was keeping up pretty well with two SUVs whose drivers clearly planned to ditch me. I think they assumed my top speed would be more like a golf cart and less like their SUVs.

@lilienne We actually bought it because it was wayyyy cheaper than paying for a rental for building hours, and then life has changed so we are looking to sell it. It’s such a cute little plane and it flies great.
@pangolindrome two of my brothers-in-law are pilots. One is just small planes and the other is small plane and helicopter. The 2nd one recently went together with a few brothers and bought a flying minivan as they call it. I think it has 8 seats. It's so fun to see familiar areas from a completely new perspective and twice I've gotten to fly low over Mt. St. Helens. When you've flown, did you mostly stay local or did you ever fly to the beach or somewhere a bit further for a quick vacation?
@babywiik That sounds awesome! Long-term, we would LOVE to build a Moose. As it is, our financial situation has, for multiple reasons, been consistently head-above-water since a few years, so the only flights taken have been to build hours. The beach is local to us - after living in North Central and Eastern Oregon for five years, a trip less than three hours’ drive feels very local 😂 but we haven’t had a vacation since… well, unless we count RV camping over spring break last year, pretty much ever. That’s one thing that’s motivating some huge life shifts right now which is scary and stressful but also necessary.
Sorry, I totally went on a steep tangent there. We definitely want to be able to fly farther, it would be SO COOL to have a plane that could make it all the way to Sweden (with stops, of course) and be able to make that sort of trip ourselves.
@pangolindrome my nephew told me when he was 3 that he was going to be a pilot and fly me to Norway when he grew up. He's 8 now and I remind him of it often so he won't forget😆 my family lives about 3 hrs from the beach too. Every summer we'd take a family trip to the beach and stay a few days. But my 2 brothers in law and a sister had to work so they just flew down for the evening/night and flew back the next morning in time for work. Pretty sweet they could still join but didn't have to spend the hours driving.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Very tired, way heavier. It's been awesome starting to feel her move, but she seems to be in the habit of throwing 4am dance parties at Hotel Uterus and then staying completely still the rest of the day and evening :P I just got a second COVID booster this morning and based on how I've felt for the other shots, I'm probably going to just take tomorrow off and rest.
𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Rant: Daycare is frickin' expensive! Which I knew before, but the sticker shock is real. It'd be one thing if any of the places we're looking at offered part time rates, but we're each going to be working from home on alternate days. Rave: I just got two $20 summer dresses from Amazon which I love and already got a compliment on from the person giving me the shot this morning!
𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: What should I be asking my doc about at future checkups that I might not have thought of?
𝗚𝗧𝗞𝗬: What's the coolest thing you own? Probably our record collection: lots of finds from various stores where we've each lived and from the place here in town. Hubs plays alto sax and is into jazz from all decades; I sing and play the piano so mine are mostly 60 / 70s rock, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, etc. My dad also just recently sent us the bulk of his and there are some real gems, like big Beatles albums in mint condition. I'd gotten a record player with a built-in bluetooth speaker, but sadly the bluetooth stopped working so we can really just hear them in the den -- at least it goes with the '70s architecture of the house!
@wendy-g I was getting those pains around 16-18 weeks, especially every time I sneezed (which was all the time because allergy season). I also had to switch to a different deodorant because a weird rash started cropping up under my armpits -- never had that happen before!
@runsonoatmeal lol at Hotel Uterus. Also, I love me some Joni Mitchell - Case of You is one of my all time favorite songs (although honestly I prefer Tori's version). I'm assuming you're a Baez girl too?
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
@kboydbowman I haven't heard Tori's version of "Case of You"! Yep, I have a couple of Baez's records from my dad's collection and I also got to see her at Town Hall in NYC when I was in college there and student tickets were like $20 each. Just her, a guitar, and I think maybe a pianist. Don't think I've ever seen a show like that since.
OMG if you can find it (Tori Amos is the Tori in question), it's beautiful! I did actually find a version on YouTube but I can't link it since I'm at work (YouTube is blocked).

𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: 5/13 anatomy scan
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Great. Which always makes me feel guilty since I’m not someone who loves the feeling of pregnancy.
𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: Rant: with our daughter, we found a name we liked, agreed on it and that was that. I thought we had decided on a name for this baby but now my husband is saying we should wait until baby is born, just in case he thinks of something better.
Raves: We live in Costa Rica and dry/hot/tourist season is turning to rainy/low season and the change is weather is so delightful!

𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Midwife appointment next week
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴?: Pretty good. Getting big and awkward, but as long as I take lots of breaks throughout the day to rest and eat a lot of nutritious food, I’m not *completely* out of it by bedtime.
𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀/𝗥𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀: rave- had a massage this morning then spent a record sum at Trader Joe’s. rant- my doula might need surgery, which, with recovery time and considering the fact I could have these babies in July, could cut things close. She’s a good friend, and I want her to be well, but I know she’s excited about being present for my labor/birth/postpartum.
𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Why is the cheese section of Trader Joe’s so captivating?
𝗚𝗧𝗞𝗬: What's the coolest thing you own? My chainsaw? It’s a Stihl and I love it. Growing up I was always interested in tools (specifically for wood) but my mom never let my dad teach me how to use them. I have a lot of woodworking tools, but my big, loud, powerful chainsaw is my favorite. When I was 37 weeks pregnant with my daughter I posed with it.
