Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
Thankful DH is so motivated! We have so many projects in the works that he's planning to finish before baby gets here.
He is remodeling 2/3 of our house (two living areas, laundry room, kitchen and two baths, siding and roof), right down to new sheetrock, windows, doors, trim, flooring, adding the 2nd bath), repairing and insulating our shop, fixing and flipping cars and machines on the side. He works full-time + OT every week so we can get ahead and do the things we enjoy. Every day he is a stellar dad to DS, an incredibly supportive and caring husband, and still feels like he's not doing enough. I don't know how I got so lucky!
I'm really looking forward to our first mud run of the year next weekend where he can let loose. We got the truck all tuned up and running like a clock last night. One more oil change to confirm there's no more coolant in our oil pan, and then it's all ready for a weekend of horsepower and mud with our friends!
So many reno pics. Took out the chimney, rewired existing outlets and added canlights, removed chimney and replaced with laundry chute, replaced insulation on exterior walls, soundproofed bathroom and baby’s room, opened up basement landing by removing walls and installing steel beam, added games/blankets closet at landing. He gets all the gold stars. I used a flooring website to apply a flooring filter and then doodles on the walls and imported a stone wall and railing to get a feel for the end result we’re looking forward to!
@laj0217 It is going to be SO worth it! The dishwasher and extra counter space will be game changers! Plus we added a pantry, and two closets into existing deadspace. Is it September yet?! ha
@jhysmath I'm super curious too - especially since your messages weren't worded the same!
@leannechristina so he got invited for the next round, but told me when I saw him this afternoon, that he emailed them declining the position because we weren't both invited to the next step. I'm sure the reason they didn't select me because I told them I would be taking 12 weeks off. He has an application to the school in our district that our house is in which closes tomorrow so we'll see how that goes, I told him if he gets that one I'm taking a year off from teaching so I'd be OK with that. Otherwise we're here for another year and I'm getting paid for most of my leave.
Also thankful for being at the same school I have been for, now, more than half my career. The dual-credit mentors used MY SYLLABUS as an example for everyone else who articulate, and today my hubbs’ coworker (he’s an emergency teacher at another school in the ESD) put together that he’s my husband and praised the bits out of my layout and planning for my ENG-104/WR-121 class. I am REALLY happy with how it has worked out this year and I finally have it exactly how I want it. I would gladly teach it the same way at an actual college, so I am super happy. Also my bump surprised me today. I am gushing over it internally. I am CHOOSING to be pregnant-body positive.
Thankful for being able to be challenged at work, warmer days, and for my future hubby to be done with busy season soon so we can spend more time together before the baby comes.
While sad for a loss- I’m also happy that one of my coworkers is leaving our company to pursue her dreams. She’s going to do great!
Thankful to have had a REALLY good group of students today (I teach "orientation," as it were, to new prison healthcare employees about once every 2 months - intro to mental health, developmental disabilities, heat medications, confidentiality, and quality management). Very engaged, lots of questions. It was nice. On a downside, I was on my feet and talking for 7 hours straight so my feet hurt and my voice is hoarse.

I'm just going to keep saying it everywhere, I am so very grateful for the news we got today, and for Kaiser's lab for getting our results back so quickly. (Update here in case folks haven't already seen it.) I am also grateful for a wonderful husband who trusts my research skills and believes in my ability to guide us through this incredibly tricky situation, and to family who have held their breath with us and are now celebrating with us.
My sister in law called me this evening to ask if I was ready to share the news with her kids, and the cheering and excitement on the other end of the line made me so happy I can't even describe it.
First time mom-to-be, due 9/25/22
Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!
