@trapperkeeper87 if we can negotiate a higher salary and insurance I don't think I'll be as worried. I'd like to not take a $10k part cut, and then lose 12 weeks of pay. I'm kind of hoping my husband gets the other district thought because it keeps our daughter in a district where she can make friends closer to where we live. We could also get an insurance by out if we're in two different districts. We can't do that if we're in the same one which we've always been. We will still need to find daycare for the other two kids. And I still don't want to work next year, but sheet being talked to about dumb things yesterday I'm a bit done with this district
@jhysmath That really is a tough position to be in. I'm sorry that the solution may end up being a difficult one for you, especially while you're pregnant.
Unless anyone has any objections, I'm going to drop the PGAL Check-in thread, or else make it monthly. Seems like most people are past their major milestones and it's not getting used much. Any thoughts?
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
(Once again, data is primarily gathered from the introductions and ultrasounds posts, with occasional additions from the weekly updates thread).
1) We currently have 62 women who are active in this board. "Active" in this case being defined as having posted within the past two weeks. Of our active ladies,
1 is due in middle August but has chosen to hang out with us
16 are due in the first week of September (9/1-9/7)
15 are due in the second week of September (9/8-9/15)
13 are due in the third week of September (9/16-9/22)
16 are due in the last week of September (9/23-9/30)
1 who has not identified a specific due date, but is due in September.
2) In terms of age, of our active ladies,
1 is under 25
14 are age 25-29
20 are age 30-34
8 are age 35-39
4 are 40 and over
15 have not disclosed their age
3) What baby number is it for our active ladies?
For 38 of us, it's the first baby.
For 14 of us, it's the second baby.
For 7 of us, it's the third or more baby.
For 3 of us, this data is unknown.
4) Where are our active ladies?
9 are outside the U.S. (Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Norway)
9 are in the Pacific coast states (CA, OR, WA)
8 are in the Midwest (MN, MT, NE, WI, undisclosed)
2 are in the Northeast (MA, NH)
5 are in the Mid-Atlantic (NJ, NY, PA)
4 are in the Southeast (GA, NC, SC)
2 are in the Deep South (LA, TX)
23 have not disclosed their location.
So far we have no ladies who have reported their location as the Southwest (e.g., AZ, NV), Applachia (e.g., KY, TN) or non-continental states (HI, AK)
6) For gender, so far...
14 mamas have announced for team blue
Planned boy names: Wyoming
12 mamas has officially announced for team pink
Planned girl names: None so far
6 mamas have reported they plan to be team green
*Note that these tallies indicate specific usernames who have stated explicitly the gender of their baby(ies) - this does not encapsulate the total courts on the "I'm Just Here for the SEX" post, which are higher.
7) So far, only one of our active ladies has reported they are having twins (but we do have some inactive ladies with multiples as well).
8) Other factoids:
We have 38 women who have posted more than 2 weeks ago but less than a month ago (11 of these have only posted once).
We have 158 women who have posted more than a month ago (64 of these only posted once).
We have unfortunately also had 8 women who have left us following confirmed losses.
We have 5 women who previously posted but have since deleted their accounts.
We have 1 woman who has since relocated to the October board.
If you don't think I'm accounting for your data (or you want to check), let me know and I'll update my spreadsheet.

Oh no but also yay about rocking that interview @jhysmath! At least the principal was accepting of the 12 weeks and it looks like the preschool situation might be better there than where you currently live? How did your husband's interview go?
Today is my anatomy ultrasound and I'm so excited and I am also super excited to find out baby’s gender although I don’t have a preference!!!!! Work is going to DRAG today! We are having an illegal potluck 🤣
@wiseh he says he thinks it went well. He made them laugh a lot. He's always the one with the charisma and does great in interviews. I told him this interview went much better than normal because it's not like I need the job so there's no pressure.
I'm not sure what kind of craziness has taken over my brain, but I'm convinced I can work full-time from home with a newborn - no daycare. Long term best case would be to start bringing baby in to our local Montessori at 2.5 yo a couple days/week. DS started there right before he turned 4 and it was so good for him! Can I really do this for 2.5 years? I think I can.
@leannechristina Some people can. I found out I cannot. We went teaching remote March 2020 when my oldest was 20 months and I was pregnant with my 2nd due in a couple months. I could not do it. I could not entertain a toddler and provide anything I thought was good for her while teaching, grading, and planning. I'm sure I could have done the planning and grading after she went to bed, but I was just exhausted. We had to rely on the TV to entertain her too much as well. I also had to stay home with a 2.5 year old and 6 month old while "teaching remotely" when they were exposed at daycare last year and the 6 month old would scream if I wasn't holding her. We have 90 minute classes and I wouldn't be able to keep her quiet for them. I ended up having to stay up well past the time I would want to so I could make video lessons for my classes. I would have to be present in the class to answer questions, but at least then the baby wasn't crying over the lesson and the kids had no idea what was going on. I learned very quickly I cannot be a WFH mom with a baby or toddler, at least not the job I do currently.
Our situation is such that after maternity leave, I go back to working full-time. Boy person will be a stay at home parent. For educational purposes, I am looking at starting the Fetal Occupant at a Montessori school as soon as possible (18 months here).

@leannechristina As a SAHM, I wanted to weigh in here as well. My daughter will be 2.5 at the end of this month, and while she can play independently fairly well, she also has to be around me 90% of the day. If I even think about leaving the room, I hear her say, "Me coming!" She's pretty easy to reason with (on a toddler level), but it's draining most days. While I think you can do it - depending on your job - it's not going to be a walk in the park. Be sure you have a strong support system in place and plenty of self-care time for when you aren't working.
@leannechristina I wish you all the luck! I'm a SAHM of a 16 month old and today I dozed on the couch for an hr while she destroyed the livingroom🤷♀️ just saying it IS possible to do other things while your kid plays in your near vicinity. The first year, babies take more naps so possibly you could work then, but I know that I took a lot of naps those first months as well. Do you have any neighbor kids or relatives that would be around 12/13ish that you could pay to come entertain baby after-school a few days a week for a few hours? Or a grandparent that could take baby part time? I'm sure you'll figure out a solution when the time comes!
No longer thankful for yesterday’s four-mile hike. That’s been my daily maximum for a while and although it felt GREAT during the walk, I seriously overexerted myself and felt like I had the flu for the rest of the day. I’ll stick to my 1.5-2 miles per walk (twice a day) for now. I am still freaking recovering. Growing a human is hard work, y’all.
I’ll join the overexertion team. This afternoon I loaded a couple of bags of soil onto my truck bed and now my back pain is worse than ever. Guess I’ll be laying low for a few days.
@pangolindrome I went to a consignment sale with my sister yesterday (she's 4 weeks behind me on her first pregnancy), and after we shopped for about 40 minutes, we then stood in line for 1.5 hours holding our finds in Ikea bags. My whole body was upset with me last night and today my groin and lower back hurts. Ugh. Pregnancy is so rough.

Sorry to revive an old one. There's a lot of though that will continue to go into this one.
@jhysmath in fall
2020 our son started Kindergarten with remote learning while I was working
full-time from home. We made it through. I hope that less structured activities
will be easier to manage than the school work with a Kindergartener was. I
definitely was exhausted, but we got it done. When I weigh out the challenges against putting the baby
in daycare or cutting out my income, I'd prefer the exhaustion. I might have to have some days where
my audio just doesn't seem to be connecting correctly. With the work I do, I
only have a couple meetings each week that I need to speak in, so I'm hopeful!
@kboydbowman DH
would be a GREAT stay at home dad, but he's our breadwinner. I love my job and it keeps me mildly social - which is nice. My job really just
supports meeting our goals faster and all the extra things we like to do. I could
stay home without working, but our lifestyle would change dramatically. No more
mud trucks, fewer vacations, less race track weekends, fewer SxS trips, less
eating out (which we should probably cut back on anyway), an actual budget for
groceries (yuck!), take longer to pay off the house… I think all these things
will help me keep my patience and a positive perspective when it gets thin.
@trapperkeeper87 I
stayed home with DS for the first year and would really love to be able to have
the same bond with this baby. DH is the BEST support system. I mentioned above
how DS started school during the remote learning phase, I was also enrolled full-time
as a student while working full-time. DH always steps up and makes sure I have
time to "fill my own cup". He's very understanding and sympathetic
towards the amount of mental fortitude it takes when taking care of children. I
got lucky.
@babywiik I'm sure
I'll have some shorter workdays mixed in for the days when I just need a nap.
My workday is very flexible and I can move my working hours around to fit
improptu schedule changes. I don't know any kids that age yet, but DS will be
10 when this baby is 2, so I'm counting on him loving being a big brother - ha!
My mom doesn't work either, and I bet I could convince her to come our way for
a few hours each week.
After reading
through all of these and thinking on it for another week, I'm really pretty
excited. I know it'll be tough (not a walk in the park), but I really do think
it'll be worth it. If we could look back and say "we did it" - what a
feeling that would be. *pulls up bootstraps* *and then remembers we're still 5
months away and takes the boots off to do more research on the Montessori
method because we'll need it*
I can’t remember when but hubbs and I were talking about something, maybe feeling chonky because you ate too much or feeling chonky because I’m pregnant. My response was “Eh, potato, po-preggo.”
