Pregnancy Related Updates/Questions- week of 3/28

Please post any updates on your pregnancy or pregnancy related questions here!

This board hasn’t been super active, so instead of daily prompts I think we can use weekly spaces to share without them getting too confusing.

Bonus GTKY: What has been the most surprising thing about this pregnancy so far?

Re: Pregnancy Related Updates/Questions- week of 3/28

  • I came down with a stomach virus yesterday which I do not recommend while pregnant, let alone late pregnancy. This baby probably hates me with how much I was trying to get her to move. I was starting to spiral because I really hadn’t felt her since the sickness started. Otherwise it has just been business as usual, not sleeping great, getting more uncomfortable, etc. We finally painted the nursery but that’s literally it in terms of getting ready so far 😬 so need to get on that.
  • @b_1029 oh wow I hope it’s just one of those 24 hour bugs! She’s probably in there chillin like “hey mom I’m fine!”

I understand the “business as usual” part of your post. Wake up like five times a night, can’t stand up without making noises, stairs are now the enemy, and you can either put on your socks OR breathe. Not both.

Congrats on the nursery! One more thing checked off the list!

  • Stomach bugs are the worst! My oldest girl just recovered from one so now I'm praying noone else catches it. 🤞🏻

Have any 2nd+ time moms ever delivered vaginally with a subchronic hematoma? I have one and it hasn't reabsorbed yet and I'm almost 33 weeks. I just would really like to have him naturally like I did my 3 girls.

Most surprising this time around is how sick I was for the 1st half and then how quickly the 2nd half is passing!

  • Sorry @Asheebeth I don’t have experience with that!! I don’t want to take attention away from
your question but wanted to add another.

My baby was head down at 27 weeks and is now breech at 31.  My midwife says still plenty of time and room to flip. Has anyone else had a baby move around and eventually settle back into head down? I don’t know why I’m being so paranoid about him staying breeched. Would love to hear anyone’s experience!
  • @coffeemamaaaaa absolutely still have time to flip. I wanna say with my 3rd kiddo she flipped breech until 36 weeks when she flipped back head down and was born at 39 weeks.

You can also look online for stretches you can do to help encourage baby to flip.

  • @coffeemamaaaaa this baby was breech up until last week or so (31w) and I was getting nervous. I was planning on looking up Spinning Babies resources if my OB didn’t think she had flipped by my 34w appointment but as of my appointment yesterday (32) she thinks she flipped.
  • @coffeemamaaaaa Mine flipped three times already! He was head down at 28w and back upright at 30. Now at 32 he’s head down again. I have a scheduled c-section, so it’s not as important for our situation, but it’s totally possible for yours to do another flip.
  • @Asheebeth @b_1029 @taylorharris0522 thank you!! Appreciate the supportive answers!!
  • Just checking in as it’s been a while. Glad to see there are still some around after the FB move!

I’m 32 weeks today, and the last couple of weeks have been a lot tougher… lots of heartburn and shortness of breath. It’s getting tough to sleep at night. Baby boy is still very much upright. Hopefully he figures that out soon, otherwise I will also be looking up the spinning babies resources. He is quite happy in there though, lots of moving around and kicking feet.

I have to get my tdap shot still… hopefully I can do that today. And my next appt is next week. I’ve been going every other week since 28 weeks.

Oh, they also did an extra ultrasound last week, and I have another at 36 weeks. Because I had covid in January, I guess they want to make sure everything is ok (so far it is). I know quite a few of us had covid in Jan/Feb… Anyone else have these extra appts?
  • @fireflyz_56 Yeah, the end is rough!! I looked up spinning babies things and found the forward leaning inversion (I think that's what it's called) to feel great, and apparently it helps with optimal positioning.

I have extra appts too, but they're due to size rather than COVID. I am a fan of doctors appts though, so I never mind having them  :#

@fireflyz_56 I had COVID in late January. I’ve been seeing a specialist the whole time due to a medication I’m on, so I’ve had monthly ultrasounds (weekly starting next week). The concern was about the meds inhibiting the heart from forming properly, and now that that’s pretty much done and all that’s left is growth I just get to enjoy the extra pictures. None of my doctors or care team have mentioned my COVID since I had it.

We have discussed the COVID booster vaccine. I’m not going to get it until after I have my son. (My first two were last June right before I got pregnant.) I am in no way anti-vax, I’m planning on all the usual vaccines for me and my boy. I just don’t see enough research on it to justify the risk at this point. Babies and children don’t contract COVID in high percentages compared to other groups anyway and they have better outcomes than other groups as well. Plus we basically live in quarantine.

I don’t want anything to get political, but what opinions do y’all have on the COVID vax during pregnancy? I’m just interested in hearing.
  • @taylorharris0522 I’m pretty much the same as you. I got my first 2 doses of the vax before getting pregnant and was eligible for my
booster in 1st tri. I elected not to get it for the same reasons you said. Plus I got covid while pregnant so at least the baby has antibodies 🤷🏼‍♀️
  • @taylorharris0522 we followed the vaccine progress pretty extensively and I had both doses before getting pregnant. I also got the booster at the recommendation of my obgyn in my 1st trimester at the same time my 7 year old got her 1st dose.

I had heard too many horror stories about how hard covid was hitting pregnant women and felt comfortable enough getting it.
I think having all 3 doses helped me avoid catching it when one of my of my kiddos had it.

  • @fireflyz56 I also was recommended to have a growth scan at 34 weeks because I had Covid during this pregnancy. Baby is healthy and has been growing on track so far, so I decided not to do the extra appt. If anything looks off at all, I’ll go. But for now I feel like it’s fine! I don’t totally understand the reasoning for extra monitoring, maybe just to be cautious? I love caution but idk!
  • @brookejay06 I declined mine too since everything else is fine. I had a 28 week follow up ultrasound due to low lying placenta and baby was doing great so I feel like unless there are signs his growth has stalled or something doesn’t feel necessary and OB agreed.
  • Seems like no matter what I do my thighs and butt are just expanding and expanding 🙃 and the cellulite is so noticeable. I try to walk every single day and do a little workout afterward which is usually arms or a leg workout. I haven’t changed my eating habits or intake at all compared to pre-pregnancy.. not because I care and am counting calories or anything but just because I follow what I feel I need. I don’t eat junk either. Just so weird lol it’s like I have zero control over it and my body wants to stockpile fat. I wish I could just go for a run 😭 Running is my usual workout but had to stop at the beginning of the second trimester because my pelvis has been a mess this pregnancy. I’ve been craving a run and walks just don’t cut it for me.
  • @jc0820 SAME!!!! I love to run. This pregnancy has been really messing with my body. I’ve actually lost some mass on my legs so my clothes are fitting better, but the rest of me is so unstable! I took my dog on a walk two weeks ago and twisted my ankle and had a pretty bad fall, so now I’m not even really getting out to walk much. I still play in the yard with the dogs tossing balls and stuff but I get out of breath so fast! I can’t wait to have this baby! I’m 33 weeks today, and I really can’t wait to 1) have a kid 2) not be pregnant anymore!
  • @taylorharris0522 oh no! I’m surprised I haven’t twisted mine yet I’ve had so many close calls lol so clumsy these days.
  • Curious if anyones had experience with membrane sweeps in the past? If so, how did it go?
  • @coffeemamaaaaa I had sweeps done with my first 2…DD1, my water broke around 48 hours after the sweep was done, but I never went into labor on my own (ended up being induced that night and delivered the following morning). With DD2, I had 2 sweeps done - the second I was already almost 4 cm and neither one did anything to send me into labor lol. They definitely *can* help, but only if your body is ready for the help! They’re also very uncomfortable IMO and I did have minor spotting after each one
  • @coffeemamaaaaa I had one done at my 40 week appointment and I ended up giving birth exactly two days later at 40+2. I’ll be getting it done this pregnancy again. Worth a shot.
