@acleverusername oooh now that my job is official i have made a couple of purchases using "startup funds." #1 on my list was getting rid of the behemoth of a 1960s particleboard desk that takes up like 40% of my office floor space and replacing it with a nice sit/stand arrangement that is actually open below and not taken up with giant ridiculous drawers i never use. the new desk has already arrived and now i am just waiting impatiently for folks from facilities to come retrieve the monstrosity so i can set up the new one.

@acleverusername what size are you monitors? i have a dual set up right now as well (i use a 22" and my laptop), but i have a work peer who just switched over to a single 32" and likes it better

@anniemarie887 they're 27" I'd like to get 1 wide screen but work won't pay for it. I have a deal alert set up for if one comes on sale.

Does anyone know single children who have THE WORST SINGLE CHILD SYNDROME ever? How do you deal with them? I have a friend coming to visit this Saturday and I'm at my wits end with him and his shenanigans. It's too much effort to keep being his friend.

. And @mambo5-2 I totally agree with that, and in fact earlier this year, I ended an almost 20-yr friendship which a girl who was COMPLETELY insensitive about my pregnancy struggles... I mean, that was the straw that broke the camel's back, not the cause of the breakup. THAT didn't go well. And I expect this to happen with this guy. Like, I don't want to just ghost him (because he won't let me... I'll continue to hear from him, and will have to maintain a "face" of friendship), so I'm trying to figure out how much I can / cannot tell him.

@acleveruser I unfriended someone a few months ago bc she couldn't understand my loss/mc/issues while she was pregnant with her second "oops" baby. We were close and even went to Italy together. I tried ghosting her, didn't work, so I told her we're in two different places right now family/friendship/life-wise (which was completely true) and that I needed to have time to myself. There's a lot more to that story but you can totally stop being friends with someone if you need to for your own sake.

I just got an interview for a full time RN care Coordinator position in our community and although I am excited it’s also nerve racking because I am super comfortable where I am working (like I know my stuff/ have been there for years) and I’ll have to learn a whole new job AND I’ll give up all the seniority I’ve accumulated over the years 🙈 I know an interview does not = you get the job but I typically do very well in interviews! I know this job would be great for my family life but it’ll also potentially be a little under stimulating for me lol also I’ll feel horrible starting a brand new job then leaving for a year shortly after I start (if I do get pregnant) so like lots of mixed feeling going on right now

@anniemarie887 yeah, he's visiting from Canada (but is in SF for a few weeks, staying with a mutual friend... and the way he treats that girl is one of the reasons that I'm irritated with him; but that's another story).

@caseys02 may I ask how that conversation went? I'm thinking of just telling him "it's become increasingly hard to be your friend and I think we have relatively little in common these days besides our shared history."

@acleverusername well she blocked me on all social media but is still friends with my bff and SO even though they only knew her through me and still texts them. It could have had a better outcome of remaining acquaintances but it wasn't a horrible conversation.

Let me tell you the weirdest part of this protein C and S issue is telling my family they need to be tested without telling them why I got tested so I don't have to hear their JUDGEMENT! Pain in the butt men in my family go get tested it can cause sudden unexplained heart attacks

@anniemarie887 that worked for my dad but my brother and his PA wife were like nope nope no way. So I told my brother it was for an RPL panel which he knows about some of my losses so he bought that.

A week later the IT people were installing three massive curved monitors at my desk. Almost everyone who sees it asks if I’m working for NASA. But it’s amazing and now I don’t know how I worked without three.

@ReadyForaB does the 3rd monitor include a laptop screen or is it 3 full size monitors? Lol. I have a new employee starting in 2 weeks, and I was texting with her yesterday asking if she wants me to request a monitor to be sent to her. And then I asked her if she'd be OK with 2. And then she comes back with "actually, my current set up is 3 monitors... " LOOOOOL. Anyways, maybe I AM missing out.

@ReadyForaB as a PM I had three monitors (2+laptop) as a test engineer I only have 2 (1+laptop), The three are better than two

It’s been a super hard day. My grandfathers funeral was today and because half my family is Covid + right now it was all discombobulated!

TW pregnancy mentioned below

And then my SIL (on my husbands side) went into labour at the start of the funeral and had her baby by the end and although I’m happy for her and to have another nephew she has Irish twins and got pregnant literally on her first try for both her kids so it also makes me want to wallow in self pity.
