My 4 year old daughter looked at my stomach and asked “what are those lines on your stomach?”

I said “stretch marks. My belly couldn’t stretch anymore when there were babies inside of it so it made those lines all over. “ and her response was “well… it looks like a watermelon.”

Can I tell you how impressed I am that she made that comparison? Watermelons actually do have stretch marks on them! Lol, I’ve never had my stomach compared to something so cute. Haha. Had to tell y’all.

Can I just complain for a second?
I hate this housing market. So much. There is not a single family stick built house on the market we can afford. When we moved here 4 years ago there was a plethora of 150-200k 4/3 homes. Now, literally nothing under 300k exists.
So I looked at buying a modular. On leased land, the leases are as much as my rent is now.
So I was going to build a modular and buy land. Which is the only affordable option. And there is a 12-18 month backlog on those homes.

This is impossible.

@tuxielove93 remember when our parents and grandparents could buy a house for less than 100k 🙄. The housing market has just been insane since covid. For a while people were putting in offers 10s of thousands of dollars over asking price.

@inthewoods23 remember when credit scores didn’t even exist? Remember when a summer job could pay an entire years worth of college tuition?

I could on. I’m so angry that I did everything right and yet I’m still living in a 2/1 apartment. and can’t do anything about it because of a bunch of things happening well outside my control.

The housing market is still insane right now! People are over bidding ask price by 100ks! We were really considering moving but now the interest rates have increased. That puts most of the available houses out of our range. It makes me sad. Our only other option now is to do an addition. But I’m afraid to do that even with the supply chain issues, and inflation. It all just sucks! I hope you’ve able to find something soon @tuxielove93. Have you been working with a realtor? Sometimes they can find homes that haven’t gone on the market yet and you can put in an offer without competition. That’s how a friend of mine got her new house.

@LJMoon6 Sort of. But I really don't want to spend over 200k and the absolute bottom of the market is 295 soo........ I don't think anyone would sell something for that far under ya know? UGH. It just sucks.

@tuxielove93 Have you considered a townhouse? That’s the only thing I can think of that’s close to that price around here. Some are 400k, but others are 150k.

@tuxielove93 I’m sorry! That’s rough. The housing market is just plain nuts. We moved right before it really got crazy in 2020. I wish we went a little bigger because at this point I don’t think we can ever move and stay local. I hope it calms down soon for you guys or something pops up.

@tuxielove93 what kind of radius are you looking at from your current home? Is it any better in different towns? Hopefully you find something soon. Do you have a deadline of when you need to be out of your current place since your landlord sold the place?

@LJMoon6 idk what’s wrong with Phoenix. Townhouses and condos are not cheaper.

I’m already a decent distance from the city, but in the city all the way to 45 minutes out isn’t any different. The entire damned metro is the same price. Actually some of the outlying areas are MORE expensive than the main metro.

and fixer uppers, which I would honestly be thrilled with, don’t exist here. Everything older than like 2005 is a mobile home and financing them is damn near impossible.

I’m starting to hate this city tbh. We moved here because it was extremely affordable. And it is not anymore. We have one of the hottest real estate markets and one of the worst inflation rates. I still love everything else but it seems like if we stay here we will never move out of this apartment. And it’s not worth it.

P.S. no we can’t leave either. My husbands stupid job won’t make the call on working from home permanently and it’s his “dream career” and he doesn’t want to leave this job without having another one.

Which fine. Fair. But he’s also been looking for a new job for over a year and hasn’t gotten one.

I’m very done with this whole situation.

@tuxielove93 That stinks. I feel your pain. We need a bigger house too (we’re still on our starter house) and the market is insane here too. My MIL tells my oldest that mommy and daddy need to move into a bigger house so she can visit. 🙄 Sorry, I’m not going to get upside down in a house so you can stay here. We do go down and visit them and I can understand her wanting to stay here occasionally, but she’ll have to sleep on a couch for now.

@sunshineandlemons OMG this is my mom! Not nearly as back handed as that. But whenever I bring this up to her she’s like “but you outgrew your apartment 3 years ago”
I KNOW THAT MOM. That doesn’t change the numbers 🙄🙄🙄🙄
