Re: Check-in (for everybody) Week of 3/14

  • I just try to eat healthily, but I don't count calories or overfocus on macros beyond making sure I'm eating proteins, green things, etc., in at least some quantities.
    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • @melyrae My husband and I found out together and did a combination of Facetiming family and asking for their final guesses before revealing and for the family close by we made cupcakes with the filling the color to represent the gender.
  • @nightknight pooping while giving birth sounded super embarrassing but when the time came I couldn't care less what was happening. Anything to get my baby in my arms and for contractions to stop. I actually have no idea if I pooed or not...I'm gonna ask MH😅
  • @nightknight it has literally never crossed my mind to ask/care if I pooped during my previous two births. It’s a 100% normal bodily function that means you’re pushing correctly and even studies have shown that it can possibly help the baby’s immune system.

So I say stress about other things 😂
  • Re. Pooping during birth. I didn’t have an epidural and I know 100% I did in fact during all 3 births… Do I wish I could prevent it from happening? Sure, but I think it’s pretty much impossible . Did I care at the time? Nope! Worrying about it or trying to “hold it in” will only prevent you from pushing and getting your baby out!
  • If it makes anyone feel better about pooping, my labor and delivery nurse friend said when it happens they’re actually excited bc it means you’re actually pushing right. So silver linings. 😂
  • Yep. L&D nurse here.... most people poo. Your nurse will never tell you. We quietly clean it up. And it shows us you are pushing correctly. I've had to manually remove poo from a pt before because she had been super constipated and it was actually in the way of baby. Your nurses and doctors don't care if you poo and we always clean it up quickly so you should never even know it happened.

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMcIUmfTZS4 is my very favorite PSA about birth. I usually hate sitcoms, but Scrubs was one of my all-time favorite TV shows.
    First time mom-to-be, due 9/25/22

Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!
