๐๐ง๐๐ฌ: What type of birth are you hoping for?
Re: Check-in (for everybody) Week of 3/14
Unmedicated hospital birth!
VBAC with minimal (if any) intervention in a hospital. I believe my hospital has a birthing pool so I am hoping to be able to labour in there.ย
@whitta1015 same! With my first pregnancy I knew what week + day I was the second I woke up in the morning. Now I have to check the app to see!ย
@whitta1015 ugh so sorry about the job stress. Itโs such an added stress to life that is sometimes necessary to have a job but feels so unnecessary when you could find a better option. Good luck on your decision!
Also, I donโt think there is any shame in a medicated birth! Everyone has preferences! My only reason to avoid meds is that I get super bad migraines and my sister always had headaches after hers and Iโm nervous it could trigger something worse for me. Not because I enjoy the pain or think itโs worth anything otherwise ๐
@lalarose22 I cannot wait for the movements and daily reassurance! Also, I started doing yoga a couple weeks ago and I felt the same way about the deep breaths and full body relaxing!ย
Hospital birth with no interventions other than an epidural. Although, this being my third I'm hoping that we make it to the hospital L&D and have time for an epidural! My second delivery went much quicker than the first.
hopefully a VBAC. Already have the beginnings of a plan in place. Unfortunately due to my history there is a strong possibility this will go back to a planned C-section at any time. But Iโm holding out hope.
healthy!!!! Definitely in a hospitalย
First BFP on 1/4/22.ย Due date 9/13/22.
I would like another unmedicated hospital birth but hopefully not as hectic this time. With my last, there was only 26 minutes between the time I walked into the hospital and the time I delivered. I was completely dilated when I got there and lucky I didn't deliver in the car.ย
Rant: my husband has decided that he's going to be healthy again, yeah, I want him healthy and to live a long life but he's a all or nothing person which drives me crazy. He now goes to the gym for 2 hours every day (ummmmm what about your family? and eating dinner with us?) He is eating slimfast (because he is a 90s teenager that thinks slimfast is a perfect diet food) and getting bitchy when I eat something or don't do anything for the day. This weekend I sat around taking care of the kids and making meals and stuff, but he had attitude even though his normal Saturday is sitting at his computer all day doing absolutely nothing. When he gets into this all or nothing with diet and execise he's just a piece of work and me being pregnant not going with him (we don't have child care to go to the gym this year together like last year) he just gets in a mood. I can suggest hey let's go for a hike (I can't hike and carry 2 kids at the same time) and he will be like no I'm too tired, but can go to the gym alone for 2 hours every day after work.ย
@wiseh so happyย you get to spend time with your family. Surprises are always the best. The labor tub during my last labor was amazing, I may have been drugged a bit and falling asleep in it, but it was so warm and inviting and they brought me popsicles.ย
@whitta1015 I went to the hospital to be induced due to large baby but knew I was already in labor. They said my contractions were good and I was 5 cm already, I really don't understand why they had to give me pitocin after that. I don't know how pitocin dosage goes, but they had me at a 1 or 2 the majority of the time. When they gave me the 3 hour get baby out or csection timeline they increased it to a 7 even though I was contracting regularly and everything. It just doesn't seem like they thought I could do it, when clearly my body was doing it on it's own. I could see if I showed up not in labor or something, but I was in labor and doing just fine.ย
@lalarose22 I was looking for prenatal yoga around me, it looks like there are about 5 yoga studios and none of them offer prenatal classes. I was bummed. Reading descriptions of yoga classes made me a little confused too, there was one place that says they don't focus on positions or anything but focus more on breathing and mindfulness. I'm thinking don't call it yoga then?ย ย
@mnmomma84 I would love to know who is delivering my baby this time around! I knew the first one because it was planned, but really only met her twice because she did my ECV for me and then we had a consult before the csection. With my second, I can only remember the 1 doctor who came in and told me I needed a csection and that he wanted me to have one before he left in an hour. (my husband was a great advocate and got me 3 hours as I just sat there crying knowing I wouldn't get my vbac) so I'm pretty sure I met that Dr that gave me the csection the hour before when she came in to have me fill out the paperwork and said I will be doing your csection. I think I cycled through 4 different OBs while in labor and saw an addition 2 during my time there postpartum. I really want to have a relationship with the person shoving their hand up inside me.ย
@x_tina729 from the research that I've done I found it more beneficial to allow the cord blood to stay with my baby. I have chosen for the first 2 to have them stay attached for an extra minute or two and wait for the cord to stop pulsing before they cut it and give her to me. I will hopefully get to choose the same this time around too.ย
@ashley35209 I think I would love to deliver safely in a car this pregnancy instead of likely getting forced into another csection at a hospital I don't really know. I joked with my midwife I'll just wait until I feel pushy to leave my house and realize I can't make it to the big hospital and show up to see them mid push. She said please don't do that to us and laughed.ย
Iโm the same @dsmith211 โ I hope we both get the VBACs we want and deserve
Keep an eye on that itchiness @x_tina729 โ if it spreads to more than your hips then make sure you check in with your doctor as it could be something more than just stretch marks & dry skin.
@mamamoomoo12 โ around 16 weeks but I was sure I felt my DD earlier. That being said, Iโve had phantom kicks ever since so who knows what is kicking & what is gas ๐
@jhysmath โ Thereโs so much to say to your post. Ugh that sounds so frustrating with your husband. Mine is very similar โ heโs always on some fad diet instead of just making long term lifestyle changes, like smaller portion sizes. Really weight loss comes down to calories in v calories out, and if we want to get technical you could still lose weight if you ate KFC or maccas every day, as long as you didnโt eat more calories than energy youโre burning. Regarding the retroverted uterus, I have one & for my first I didnโt really show until I was in my 3rd trimester โ I posted a HDBD photo in here at 30 weeks https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12741999/hdbd-3-27#latest. My babe was also posterior 90% of the time which I think contributed as I didnโt have a baby spine protruding out to make a round belly. This time though, I am definitely showing already and I am only 13ish weeks. And I canโt believe the hospital put you on Pitocin even though you were already in labour & dilated at 5cm! Do you have any birth empowerment classes you can take locally? I did one with my first and while I still ended up with a C section I felt like I was in control. The course gave me stats around when risks really do start to go up and the wording you can use to get medical professionals to do what you want (or at least negotiate with them so itโs not just their way only)
Yasss @laj0217 being wrapped in bubble wrap is so frustrating! My chiro said to me โdonโt lift anythingโ and I was like โ Iโve been in the gym for 15 years lifting heavy weights, I also have a toddler than weighs 20kg that I would carry for an accumulative 4hrs a day โ wtf??
@mk2022x donโt let the size on an ultrasound scare you into or out of doing anything. They can be out by up to 50%! I know multiple people who were told they were having whopper 10lb+ babies and ended up birthing 6-7lb babies.
Hoping for a similar experience to my last birth. Unmediated, hospital birth, no interventions except a little push on the cervix to get the last bit of lip out of the way. Maybe this time Iโm hoping to be calm and quiet in labor but that has not been my MO. Honestly, Iโm pretty okay with it but the idea of a quiet, calm birth seems really nice and peaceful.ย
@jhysmath sorry to hear about your husband's fitness habit! Mine isn't quite that bad, but he has some similar tendencies. The other night he got back out of bed at 11:30 PM when he realized he hadn't finished his Apple Watch move goal for the day...he went out to the living room and played Beat Saber until midnight. I nearly killed him! He just doesn't want to break his move streak, no matter how tired he is and no matter how long a day we have had.
Then again, we have another family member who is everything we've discussed times a thousand...he spends an insane amount of time on personal self-improvement stuff. Sometimes long solo travel, leaving his wife to deal with the kids, house, and pets, sometimes exercise plans that take 4-6 hours 2-4 times a week. Every time I get too annoyed with my husband I remind myself how much worse it could be.
Thanks to all of you for the thoughts/info on epidurals! I've been on the fence about what I will do if/when the time comes, and it's great to hear different perspectives.
Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!
honestlyโฆ I havenโt even gotten that far yet. I feel almost like Iโll jinx it if I think that far ahead. Plus I have more than a few weird medical things going on, so I am kind of just hoping Iโm able to labor successfully without a medical emergency. If we can both make it through healthy without needing emergency intervention, I will consider it a win.ย
hopefully unmedicated hospital birth (possibly mobile epi)
First BFP on 1/4/22.ย Due date 9/13/22.
Something better than last time. It would most convenient if I could stay local but it's a small hospital and when birth was taking too long last time they flew me across the fjord to a bigger hospital so I could get an epidural. So on one hand, I've thought that I'll just start out at the bigger hospital but because it involves a airplane ride, they'd require me to be there at least 1 week before my due date. My last baby came at 41+6 so we could potentially be waiting for 3 weeks, away from home and my daughter will be 22 months so I'm not leaving her home with my inlaws for that long and idk what to do if we take her with. I guess what would be ideal is for labor to be short-is and I could just stay local. I bought a hypnobabies course (so at least I can stay calm) and plan to get chiropractor adjustments along the way and up until birth so hopefully everything is in line and ready for birth. I've also read a bit about rebozos. Commonly used in Mexico and used with spinning babies. I think I'll do more research on them as I've heard they can work as pain relief as well.ย
Good to know about the rebozo. Definitely will be trying it out!
I think Iโm lucky because I donโt really have any opinion, therefore I wonโt be disappointed. Hospital is the plan! But c section or vaginal - itโs all ok with me as long as baby is safe and Iโm safe!ย
Vaginal, hospital, relatively easy to recover from.
Rant: Still have so many food aversions which is such a bummer.
Vaginal, hospital, EPIDURAL. I believe I have such a low pain tolerance haha
Rave: heard the heartbeat for the first time yesterday at the doctor's. Had my husband on speaker phone so he didn't miss it.ย
