The fatigue is real!! It's so strange, the only time I feel energetic is when I wake up at 4am to pee, lol.
Food smells were originally the only thing that set off my repulsion. Yesterday at work, I smelled overwhelming cologne on a person and thought, oops, he has too much on. Then I smelled a second person with too much. Then a third. Then I realized they probably don't have too much on, it's just my PREGNANCY NOSE!
The only symptom that's got me down is I have zero libido. I love being with my husband and I miss being intimate but I just don't want it, haha. Has anyone had this get better later in pregnancy?
@maceykott i have really bad morning sickness and normally it does not go away until second trimester about 14 ish weeks- but everyone is different.
Does anyone have symptoms that seem to recede ? I feel like the sensitivity to smell has gotten better. I also feel like my morning sickness is not as bad as previous pregnancies- I normally throw up 3-5 times a day and this time it’s only 2-3 times a day. I know every pregnancy is different, and throwing up 2-3 times a day is still alot, but the morning sickness has always been my reassurance that things are going ok in there.
@maceykott tends to get worse before it get better 🙈 speaking from my previous pregnancy’s my symptoms went once the placenta started doing the job for me. @relizabethp my symptoms definitely come and go my nausea has definitely improved as the weeks have gone on. I totally get what you mean about it being reassuring the first trimester is just one big rollercoaster isn’t it
This thread comes at the perfect time! I am 6 weeks and a few days. I have been dealing with gas in my stomach at night since week 3. And then boom week 6 comes around and the gas is currently all day long. But accompanied by not bieng able to eat even regular snack size portions.
Unfortunately I was starving Thursday night, having not eaten much that day. We got burgers and fries and i at all of it - and instantly regretted it. My stomach felt like a rock and i had to go to sleep to get on a plane super early the next day. I ended up throwing up on the plane and have not been able to eat much of anything since. Its been a couple days so im hoping once my diet is back to normal and fluid intake is back tbings will lessen but I dont knoe.
In a lot of pain now with gas. Any help or suggestions?
@Knottie1436835402 I would suggest starting a stool softener and miralax routine- it won’t work for at least 12 hours but it will help in the future. In the meantime I would get up and walk to release the trap gas and take a warm shower to help relieve some of the pain.
10w I have kind of a funny symptom. Kind of. I’ll get this sense of physical discomfort/existential dread/unreasonably high anxiety. Two-five minutes later, I will have a really awful fart and feel all better.
It’s not just been March - it’s been a couple weeks - but it happened yesterday and I was wondering if maybe someone else had experienced something similar.
I must say, it gave me a bit of comfort to hear how much gas everyone else is also dealing with. I’m just sitting on the couch hopelessly farting non-stop and already took 2 gas-Xs. And I didn’t even have any wheat today, which doubles the problem.
Still have intense fatigue, moodiness and all the other symptoms as before. I also have had zero libido and feel bad about it. By the time we get any alone time after our toddler has gone to bed, I’m too exhausted and have already gone to sleep. I’ve also had pretty bad insomnia this whole time. I think It’ll improve with the second tri though— which is coming right up!
The only real new symptom I’ve noticed is that my uterus and cervix feels almost low, which I’m pretty sure is my old pelvic floor issue resurfacing. Time to do lots of kegals 🤷🏻♀️ My stomach also feels firm now and is kinda getting a bump, rather than just seeming squishy.
You ladies are not alone, I’m over here like 🥴 too! Lol Noticed when I take my probiotic regularly it helps with the gas and bloat.
Aside from that, I’m usually passed out on the couch for a few hours in the evening getting home from work. I’ve been lucky bc I haven’t really had any morning sickness. This week I did have a moment of gagging in the shower with excessive burping after having fried fish. Guess baby doesn’t like that! More power to you ladies with nausea and intense morning sickness!
7w4d. I’m dealing with terrible nasal congestion. Constant and uncomfortable. Makes sleep difficult already. But I think it does prevent smelling repulsive smells!
I also have some gas that can be painful at times and slight constipation. Boobs continue to be super sore and yes the fatigue……… But no real nausea so far. As long as the embryo is healthy and developing as it should (I have my first US week nine) I’ll count that as a win!
@rin_dancing you sound similar to me lots of nasal congestion, which started a couple weeks in. I have to blow my nose about 10 times a night. I had it the whole time with my first too, so expected it. I have allergies normally and get super snotty with colds, so seem susceptible to nose issues!
Also minimal nausea over here, other than queasiness (same with my first). It is a blessing for sure! But I have all the other usual symptoms so it makes up for it.
@rin_dancing@merostomata Do you guys rinse your sinuses? Using NeilMed rinser bottles, NOT the Neti Pots, with warmed up distilled water and a NeilMed salt packet does wonders. My husband and I do it for broken-sinuses and allergy reasons, twice a day, and I think that’s why my sinuses are kinda doing okay. They are a huge achilles heel for me.
@pangolindrome that's a good idea, I probably should get a new one and give it a shot. I used to do a NetiPot rinse now and then, but my toddler has adopted it as her own. It is now her "teapot" for bath time, lol
@merostomata the netipot is better than nothing, but the sinus rinser bottles will use pressure from your hand and get the water into more parts of your sinuses or at least that’s what our ENT said.
@rin_dancing - my symptoms are pretty much the same as yours exactly- but with a little insomnia added … and no real nausea yet which is bonkers because that was the worst & most prevalent symptom when I was pregnant with my first. The congestion is terrible
Hello! 9w 3d here! My worst symptoms have been lots of all day nausea (thank GOD no throwing up), tiredness, and nasal congestion. Also, I smell things that aren't there...? There's this weird smell that I swear is everywhere I go. Idk if I'm losing my mind or Sweet Pea (baby's nickname) just doesn't like the smell of most things. It's very strange 😕
Y'all I'm definitely already showing, so much so that I told the rest of my coworkers 2 weeks earlier than planned because I have absolutely nothing work appropriate that hides it anymore.
Still dealing with nausea, especially on the bus, but I've noticed I'm either getting better at preventing it or it's starting to ease up because I think the waves are less frequent now. Mints help on the bus, and regular hearty snacks help a ton, as well as juice when I need to buy myself a bit of time to make a proper meal/snack to eat. Weight loss seems to have stabilized a bit too so I think I might finally be eating enough.
So much peeing, so many wake ups to pee and rehydrate, so much gas, so many food aversions (broccoli is evil to this baby apparently, though I managed to stomach kale the other night!), and definitely with y'all on the congestion front.
Good thing is the emotional disconnect I was feeling from this pregnancy is easing up a bit. Not gone, but I'm starting to feel like I'm processing the reality a bit more. It's super strange to me because I'm a very touchy feely person and this is a planned and very wanted pregnancy. Relieved it's easing up and working closely with my therapist to navigate it. It might just be because I had a very easy first trimester with my first, so this is just a lot more demanding.
Hi! I am 9 weeks today, due Oct. 12th. The last two weeks my symptoms have been increasing, constant stomach pain all day, Maude, gas and constipation. Waking up to pre sometimes 4x a night and waking up with nausea too 🤢. The fatigue has been really difficult since the beginning of the pregnancy. I just started taking B6 25mg 3x a day yesterday and I have to say I feel so much better! The nausea has improved and I feel like I have a bit more energy as well. I am also using tums and ginger chews for tummy pain. Metamucil and increased fiber foods for constipation with smaller meals…I do hope this works. Any thoughts on reducing gas pain and constipation? I saw on the thread gas x helped some people. Just started feeling irritable/moody this week unfortunately. Thanks! 🤰💗
also I thought my name got changed from the knottie one and I am editing my post now because I see it did not update. Working on this now 😀
@krthouse I appreciate you talking about the disconnect you’d been feeling. I’ve been in a similar place which has shocked me. Planned pregnancy, very wanted, I adore babies and children, so I just assumed I would be full of connection and love and maternal bliss. Instead I just feel kind of……… meh. Not meh about having a kid, but meh is my baseline emotional state. Hoping the US in a few weeks makes it all more real and that it’ll be easier to get excited and feel connected once I hear/see a heartbeat.
@rin_dancing I'm also hoping my next ultrasound will help. If it doesn't I'm going to flag this to my midwife just in case it's a sign of perinatal depression. I hope both of us feel that happy connection soon 💕
@rin_dancing and @krthouse just wanted to join y'all in the feelings of disconnect and meh. I think I literally said "meh" as my first word for how I was feeling at the weekly check-in. In my case, I think it's a defense mechanism in case something goes wrong, as a result of my anxiety. I'm really anxious this time around and have been depressed as well. Although it seems to be lightening up ever so slightly as I approach week 10...fingers crossed I'm over the hump! I signed up for a counselor on Cerebral though and talked to my GP about it. My first prenatal appt is on Friday and I think that'll help a lot.
Hope you both get some reassurance at your upcoming appointments and start feeling better soon when the hormones level out. With my first, it definitely took time to feel real and the connection gradually grew as the pregnancy progressed.
Also editing to add-- @rin_dancing there might be a straight-up hormonal component to the blah feelings as well. I feel down before my period and was down during the first trimester with my first as well, but felt like a cloud lifted as I approached the second trimester. So as other crappy symptoms ease up, the mood might as well. Here's hoping!
@merostomata I just explain to a friend that I feel like I’ve been living under a hormonal cloud of dooooooom these past weeks. Lovely to think it may lift as the pregnancy progresses and shifts! And yes, I think it’s also a defense mechanism. I’ve watch a number of friends go through miscarriages and missed miscarriages. They all have beautiful children now, but how do you know which embryo to get attached to?I've also struggled with anxiety as a not pregnant woman so it probably makes sense I’m feeling this way.
@krthouse smart to flag this feeling with someone knowledgeable in case it is a sign of something larger. I was seeing a therapist for a while but then I ghosted her…… lol. Time to get back with it. And yes, hope that connection starts blossoming for all of us. 💕
Oh man I am riding the struggle bus this week. Fatigue -- the degree varies day to day. Nasal congestion and sneezing SUCKS. I am afraid to try my netinpot because it will almost certainly make me puke.
Speaking of which, while I found that I usually feel worse as the day goes on, yesterday I puked during breakfast and my body just kind of 'noped' out of eating and working the rest of the day.
I'm 9w3d and this is the worst smell aversion/nausea/vom combo. At least the gassy bloating is taking a back seat for the time being? It's always something🤷♀️
9w today! I was a little worried when at the 8w mark my nausea and breast soreness receded quite a bit. Your response @holly0810 made me feel loads better! Still anxious to get to my next appointment on the 22nd for peace of mind. The nausea is still there just mostly in the afternoon to evening and boobs are still sore just not agony anymore. And round the clock fatigue and the peeing ALL THE TIME has begun. Also I can only eat small amounts like half a meal before I feel awful. Is that normal?
Had my “new pregnancy education” meeting with a nurse this morning, and she wants me on 50 mg of B6 3x a day with unisom at night to combat the nausea and insomnia. She said the B6 should help with my energy, too. Also recommended Colace for all my digestive fun.
@robbinsegg317 I have the same thing with needing only small portions - I eat about 1/3 of the size of a meal i would eat previously. If I force myself to eat more I get terrible acid reflux/heartburn.
Feeling really anxious right now. I felt pretty good just nauseous but as the day as gone on I have majorly deteriorated. I am flushed and feel all sorts of awful, crampy, abdominal muscle pain, but ugh just so off. I’m sure the ab pain is from getting sick but everything else has me just feeling concerned. Just trying to take it easy at the moment since I had to leave a meeting I felt so horrible.
7w4d and at 7w the nausea decided to show up on my birthday... Mornings have been super rough not being able to eat, but I have managed fruit (blueberries, oranges, oj, and kiwi)... By afternoon it's getting better. Gas is better than it was at week 5. But I had noticed I wasn't pooping a normal amount, last night at 1:30, I found all of it - after spending a good 10 minutes on the toliet, breaking out in sweats almost feeling like I was going to pass out. Guess I better get on some Metamucil... Nipples have been tender, but the SO and I's sex life is still very good, so I mark it as too much play. ABSOLUTELY EXHAUSTED... Every day, tried taking naps and I run out of time. I am ready to sleep by 9 every night and I don't even have to get up till 7:30.
9 weeks and 2 days here and in addition to the nausea, fatigue, bloating, and sore boobs from previous weeks, I have started having nightmares during my sleeping hours and headaches in the afternoons. Also have a cold sore popping out. I hear this is the hormone apex so definitely looking forward to these symptoms starting to recede!
Thought I was starting to turn a corner with the nausea but it came back full swing today and my food aversions have been intense. Like I didn't even want toast! Ended up having to order in because there was nothing in our full fridge or pantry I could even fathom trying but I knew I had to eat something. Today was such a hard day to get through, and DS was a wild little imp on top of it. Hoping tomorrow is better!
11 weeks today nausea has gone and tiredness is reducing feeling lots more motivated. Having a little lower back and hip ache but everything is softening getting ready to grow.
10 weeks today-- feeling ever so slightly better in the fatigue department! I am still feeling crappy but think I'm over the hump, at least. I'm really going to try my best to get outside, that always helps me feel better. Mood is better now that I know there's a healthy baby in there
I've been having a weird scratchy feeling at one side of my throat that has made me cough. Wasn't sure if it was pregnancy related, but a couple days after it started I learned that tonsil stones can be a weird pregnancy symptom. I'm going to keep an eye on it.
9 weeks over here and nausea is kicking my ass! It’s been awful the past couple of days with dry heaving and some puke. Yesterday I FINALLY remembered for my last pregnancy, my Dr recommended unisom and b6, so I started that last night and I woke up significantly less nauseated, so I’ll take that as a win! That’s really my only symptom besides the vivid dreams

@EmilyE13 My doc also put me on the B6 and Unisom to help. You're in good company
