I think we are going to do a pet themed (our parents, my work, and our best friends and my CrossFit coaches already know) announcement for social media. We have two Bull Terriers who are similar color and two GSPs that look nearly identical so I thought I would take a photo of each pair by signs that say “Adding a human pair” “to the pack” “ August 2022” with the third pic having two pairs of little cowboy boots and an ultrasound photo in it. Stay tuned! DH wants to wait to do the photos until after we get our NIPT results back this week.
@kbtt2022 yes! Once we announce I was flooded with so many messages and friend requests like over 300 of each from people I don't know at all so I made a Facebook page for them for anyone who wants to follow along with us! It's called "The Smith Quad Squad" and I plan on getting the YouTube channel up and going too, I just haven't yet haha
@Karissa764 I think it’s amazing that you got pregnant with spontaneous quads. It’s one thing and obviously a huge blessing for it to happen through IUI or IVF but just on your own. Wow. Who knows, maybe reality tv is in your future!
@wigglyicecream We need a reality show to pay for having quads 🤣 we have a 4 and 6 year old too. We are in the process of figuring out another vehicle that can fit 8 of us. Our 5 year plan was to build a new house on our property but it's definitely going to be more like a 1-2 year plan now haha
@Karissa764 I grew up in a house with 5 kids. My parents had a 15 passenger van with the back 2 rows removed. It worked for us. My friend has 8 kids and she uses the Nissan NV 12 passenger van.
@bridgiebee82 That's what we are thinking! I haven't looked at the Nissan yet. We have looked at the dodge and the Mercedes passenger vans. I think we will have to go with something of that size. Our 4 year old has Cerebral Palsy so we have to have room for his walker and any other medical equipment he will need down the road.
@Karissa764 those Mercedes vans are really nice. If you have to have room for the walker and stuff you might consider the Suburban or Expedition XL too.
@Karissa764 What a cute announcement! It's fun that you created a Facebook page to keep everyone in the loop. 4 is going to be a wild ride! @sarahdaley11 It seems very fitting to have two "twin" sets of dogs with to twin babies! haha and LOVE your two GSP! Their ticking is very beautiful. We have a 6 year old liver roan GSP, she's heavily ticked as well.
When we announced to my family at Christmas I asked them not to tell anyone else for a bit until we were further along. I knew my dad was dying to tell his siblings so when I asked him today if they all know, I was shocked when he said he still hasn’t told anyone! Good job, Dad. Except now I actually WANT him to tell them all because we’re heading to a family wedding next week and I do not want to have to tell everyone while we’re there. Mostly because I don’t want to make it about us on someone else’s special day, but also because I hate being the center of attention and find it awkward to tell people. So thankfully he was thrilled to be able to tell them this week and will take care of that for me.
And by the time we left the winery today, he had already told the owner (who he’s friends with) about it so clearly he’s happy to be able to spill the beans now 🤣
he did suggest not telling his brothers and sisters WHICH one of us is pregnant (between me and my 2 sisters) and making them guess and I told him that’s the worst idea ever because then they’ll just all be staring at our bellies trying to figure it out until only 2/3 of us start drinking.
@itsme215 my dad also had a hard time holding in the news around Christmas. We gave them an ornament as an announcement, and he wanted to share it on Facebook on New Year's Day, and at that point we weren't ready to blast it on social media yet ourselves, so thankfully he held back until we made the first post. I just couldn't believe he would have even thought about doing that before us. But good dads/soon to be grandpas for holding in the news.
@fromfurmomtobabymom8-2 that’s great that he listened and didn’t end up posting! My first baby, my MIL told people after we asked her to not share the news yet 🙄🙄 this time around, we didn’t tell her until the second trimester, in case she decided to spill the beans again.
sarahdaley11 Love the announcement! But also, I love that your dogs looks like the Target mascot!
@itsme215@fromfurmomtobabymom8-2 My dad has also had a hard time staying tight lipped. I guess it was good that we had to wait an additional month to tell them (thanks COVID) so he didn't have even longer to keep the news. I'm glad they were able to keep it to themselves! We will be posting on social media most likely this weekend, and I know my dad will spread it to his own world the same day. Ha!
@itsme215 bahaha your dad’s guessing game makes me laugh. My mom is so weird about telling her siblings when I finally tell her to tell them. For real… this time she asked me to text them all individually 🙄🙄🙄
Also, I think now my MIL doesn’t want to tell people since we have “too many” kids according to her. 😝🤷🏻♀️
I guess I’ve finally reached the point where I’m telling people outside my immediate circle. I told my hair stylist today, and one of the architects we work with on work projects (who has twin babies). They were both shocked and super excited. I still feel so awkward telling people though! I hate being the center of attention.
