Are there any studies on when ovulation occurs when you have an LH plateau or biphasic surges, instead of the "typical" single surge? In my "expert" google research, I find conflicting information - some sources show ovulation happens after the plateau, others say it happens after the first peak, and some say after the highest peak...
@tryingeverything_tricarenothing based on the pic, I'd definitely say your peak was 2/23 AM. Most of the info I've seen says to assume O 12-36 hours after your first peak, so based solely on the OPKs I'd say you likely ovulated on the 24th. Are you temping to confirm ovulation? OPKs can tell you when you're likely about to ovulate, but it is possible for your body to gear up for ovulation and not succeed, in which case you could have multiple LH surges in a single cycle. But if you got a sustained temp rise somewhere around probably the 25th or 26th, that would confirm you ovulated.
@fantasyflyte I didn't temp this cycle, was on vacation in-between IUI cycles. I have severe endometriosis, but not PCOS, so I haven't personally run into the multiple surges issue.
It's a mix between 'a girl can hope' (based on when we had intercourse that week), and trying to figure out when we'll ramp up for the next IUI (my luteal phase is pretty consistently 13 days). Scheduling work and family events, and I don't want to miss out on this cycle because I was off by a day or two. (I swear I'm not a control freak...)

I’m having ovulation cramps this morning. Didn’t think I’ve had a true positive yet though. Seems like this morning was maybe my first true positive? I’ll test later today but with my cramping I’m thinking I might be ovulating right now. We didn’t get to dtd last night as I feel asleep on the couch. 🙄 we did do it the night before though. and our friend is in town which is making things difficult. Hopefully we can do it again tonight!

I thought my OPK was positive at 8am after waiting the 5min BUT as I continued testing my line didn’t get darker and the original one that looked positive kind of faded! What’s your interpretation!? I’m thinking I either had my surge between 3pm on April 8th and the test I took at 8am today the 9th and I caught the tail end of it OR my body tried to surge and did not succeed? Not temping because it messes with my mind lol
I hate self monitoring! It makes me so uneasy lol I’m definitely going with a trigger shot next cycle if we need to so I don’t have to use OPKs
so this morning at 6am I thought I had a positive (test line was as dark but not darker than control line) and again at 7am and 9:30am (first pic is 6am test) but then by 2pm the OPK Wasn’t positive. I thought it stayed positive for a while like you usually surge for 12ish hours?
@tryingktogku it doesn't matter how long the surge lasts, just when you first surge. from the point where LH rises, you've got ~40 hours worth of "go" time before the fertile window closes, with O happening as soon as 18 hours or even less thereafter.

@optimistgardener ah I didn’t know that! The last time I used OPKS I had like a blazing positive where the test line was way darker than the control line lol so I wasn’t sure if these were considered “positive”’too!
@tryingktogku on top of what @optimistgardener said, women who have PCOS usually have weaker LH surges. Our recent grad @fantasyflyte can add her 2 cents here since she has PCOS, but I would recommended using a semi-quantitative OPK instead of the threshold based ones. @tryingktogku@acleverusername is correct, I almost never get a "true positive" OPK. I'd personally mark "peak" in FF when I got about a 0.4-0.5 on the Premom reader since that was the darkest I'd usually get. My darkest OPKs would usually be similar to your 730 April 8 one.
I did get solid smilies on the CBAD, but that was during Letrozole cycles, so I'm assuming that had an affect.
Honestly, becoming obsessed with peeing on sticks so I take a lot of OPKs. Don't judge me. Since tracking, I've been a day 14 LH surge person. I'm not quite to day 14 this cycle but check out this weird opk that's on cd10 at 1:08pm. Any insight? I'll also include last cycle's OPKs in the second spoiler. (Hopefully they show up in the correct order) Hopefully I do this in the spoiler the right way.

Hey ladies! I want to hear your thoughts on this.... So I got a definitively positive OPK on Sunday, which would point to Monday as O day. I have historically had ovulation pain that has been very reliable. I had this type of pain on Saturday evening/night, but I had not had a strikingly positive OPK yet so I was actually nervous that it was going to be appendicitis or something. I have not had the pain AFTER my positive OPK. Typically I have the pain shortly after (usually 6-12 hours later) or WITH a positive OPK (like I'm having the pain and use an OPK for that day and its's positive). I will say that I had darkening OPK test lines since probably Saturday afternoon, but I didn't get a definitive positive until Sunday afternoon. Did my surge actually start on Saturday and peak on Sunday? Am I having an anovulatory cycle and that pain was something else? What are your thoughts?

I had them in order on the bathroom counter but DH thought it was "weird to have little pee sticks on the counter" so he tossed them. -_- I wish I was still using the premom app, and I could just screen shot them. Maybe I'll start using that again in case of a similar situation. I can try to paint a visual, if that is any help (I know it's not as helpful as photos, but c'est la vie).
Test line was very faint on Friday afternoon, darker Saturday morning, darker but still not as dark as the control on Saturday afternoon, *almost* as dark as the control Sunday morning, then darker than the control Sunday afternoon.
The pain was Saturday late evening/night. My EWCM is gone now, so I think O was somewhere between Saturday-Monday (hopefully).
@bbrahmbhatt I think O on Sunday (maybe overnight?) sounds likely given your OPKs and maybe the pain was your body getting ready to O? I have definitely gotten positive OPKs immediately followed by a temp spike (like less than 24 hours later) so if I were you I'd keep temping (are you?) and confirm with that. I would be very surprised if it is anovulatory given what sounds like a clearly positive OPK.
@Paturkey thanks for your input! I was assuming O either Saturday night or Sunday given timing of the pain and the OPK. I'm not temping; I am the lightest sleeper and frequently wake up in the middle of the night or early morning, so my temps were always wonky, so I gave up trying.
Hi! I have a question about OPK readings for the group. My cycles are very irregular (possibly PCOS according to my ob/gyn), and this is my first month TTC. I’m using OPKs and not temping yet, though I will start next cycle.
I am using the CB advanced digital OPKs. I went from low fertility straight to peak fertility (pic below) on Saturday. However, I tested that evening as well and got a high fertility reading (flashing smiley face), and it was the same - high fertility - the next two mornings (Sunday and yesterday). Today I was back to low fertility. Thoughts on what happened? Could it have been an estrogen surge without O? Or does the peak read always indicate O?
@liberator0423 once you get your peak on a clear blue, you stop testing. That means your LH surge has been detected. The fact that you went from peak to then high, then low is a good sign. Your LH surges at O, then backs off when the egg is released.

@liberator0423 With CB Advanced, you're not supposed to test after you get peak fertility. In fact, you shouldn't be able to get anything but peak after your get the peak (it stays in memory on the device for several days to prevent further testing). It's possible that you have a faulty unit.

Can anyone tell me if I had a positive or negative testing? I took a clear blue test and it came back with a really thin dark line but I took another different test (rexall on step) and it came back with a very faint line I just don’t understand if I am or not because I just stop my birth control like three months ago and just now I have missed my period and haven’t had it all month but I haven’t had symptoms at all?

so this morning at 6am I thought I had a positive (test line was as dark but not darker than control line) and again at 7am and 9:30am (first pic is 6am test) but then by 2pm the OPK Wasn’t positive. I thought it stayed positive for a while like you usually surge for 12ish hours?

Test line was very faint on Friday afternoon, darker Saturday morning, darker but still not as dark as the control on Saturday afternoon, *almost* as dark as the control Sunday morning, then darker than the control Sunday afternoon.
The pain was Saturday late evening/night. My EWCM is gone now, so I think O was somewhere between Saturday-Monday (hopefully).

AMH test came back at .081. Was going to move on to IVF with DE, but have decided not to. Will be leaving it up to the universe now.
Oct '21 somewhat improved AMH (.51) and significantly improved FSH (8.9). Maybe it's all the pills I swallow.
Dec -21, standard antagonist. 225menupur/225gonal-f/cetrotide/5000u trigger, AFC 5; 11 days of stims. retrieval yields 5, 4M, 2 reach day-6 blast (4AB & 4BB). 1 low-level mosaic (chr. 3 deletion), 1 complex abnormal.
Feb '22 FET (low-level mosaic): CP.
May '22 egg retrieval, lupron flare protocol. HGH priming for 1 month before stims; md lupron 20/20u daily; menopur 225, follistim 225, 10k trigger after 8 days of stims; AFC 10; 13 retrieved; 10 mature; 8 fertilized. All frozen at 2PN for later thaw, grow, and biopsy.
July '22 egg retrieval same protocol: 9 days of stims; AFC 8; 10 retrieved, 8 mature, 4 fertilized and frozen.
Sept '22 ER same protocol: AFC 10; 12 retrieved, 11 mature, 11 fertilized.
From the 3 retrievals, 7 survived to day 5-6 blastocyst, from which I have 2 normal embryos!
Jan 20, Fully medicated FET, baby aspirin, dexamethasone, acupuncture, and as much woo as I can stand (which isn't very much). BFN.
July 23, Natural FET + baby aspirin. BFN.
