Re: March Symptoms Thread

  • Finally starting to get a *little* energy back (very little, but I'll take it).

  • So, this week (13 weeks), I have started throwing up my prenatal vitamins. I’ve been fine the whole time taking them until now. I have a two part question: Should I try and retake them when the nausea passes? I kept them down about 10 minutes so don’t know how much my body absorbed. Any strategies to keeping them down?
  • If they're only down for like 10 minutes you're probably not absorbing much at all.  When do you take them?

  • @laj0217 changing up when you take them might help... in my first pregnancy I took them in the morning but then they always made me feeling nauseous so I started taking them before bed and that worked better for me. You can try before food vs. after food, etc.
  • The only issue with taking them before bed is that B vitamins can actually cause a bit of insomnia for some women (present company included)

  • I’ve definitely found it needs to be with food. I usually take them after breakfast (or I forget lol).
  • Maybe worth trying switching it up if you can't keep them down? I take mine before bed and do not have nausea or insomnia with that. Most things pregnancy and baby-related are just trial and error to see what works for you haha. Gotta love it.
  • @theblondebump I will move the pill organizer to my bedside table and give that a try. I may try taking them again tonight. I haven’t really gotten them down any day this week because of the morning sickness.

On the plus side, if I throw them up at home, my husband will feel bad and I’ll get babies a little. At work, I’m trying to hide it 😂 and my own bathroom is always preferable to the school bathroom.
  • @theblondebump I told my husband it makes up for all the man colds!
  • Ooo maybe I can't sleep because I've been taking my prenatals around 7pm with dinner. I'm gonna have to start taking them in the morning and see if that helps because I can't sleep to save my life.
  • @laj0217 haha that is so accurate
  • Just for info in case someone else needs it. My doctor called back and said don’t retake today's vitamins, start taking them at night with dinner because that’s when you have the least stomach acid, and if that doesn’t work start taking 2 flintstones chewable vitamins.
  • @laj0217 this is what my doctor recommended as well. My nausea was unmanageable during the day taking them in the morning- I generally always have a harder time with vitamins even with food. Taking them at night after dinner hasn’t eliminated everything but I at least can function during the day so that’s a plus.
  • The last few weeks, I’ve been dealing with pregnancy-related insomnia. I’m tired, you’re tired, we know the normal exhausted feeling. Adding a little insomnia in the mix? Brutal. I’ve never dealt with it before. And the only thing that is plausibly responsible is stress or racing thoughts, but I don’t think I’m even that stressed rn. Just, ugh. That’s how I feel. Take away a couple hours of sleep a night, and reduce my sleep quality overall, and that’s a recipe for creating a sad sloth. I’m hoping to find some solutions and change up my routines to see what helps. If anyone is already experiencing insomnia or poor sleep, I feel you and I’m praying for you!
  • @paigeb26027 Insomnia here, too. 🙋‍♀️ Either I’m having vivid stress dreams or I’m unable to sleep. Solidarity. Hopefully, this turns around soon.

  • Does anyone else have a partner who is definitely benefiting from the pregnancy symptoms?
    Wanting to nap more? Yes.
    Food cravings? Yep.
Eating unhealthier foods? You got it.
Not wanting to do anything because I’m tired? Oh yes.
Bigger boobs and assets? For sure.

My DH thinks this is the best thing since sliced bread. 😂

I didn’t have any morning sickness or nausea so he didn’t see that side or he might have a different opinion lol (sorry to you ladies who have had a tough go!).
  • My husband is definitely enjoying the bigger boobs. :D I think he's less amused by having to do the cats' litterbox! He's being extremely patient with me, which I appreciate. He also swears he isn't getting any sort of sympathy syndromes, but he was up the last two nights with indigestion so I'm not so sure!

Some complicated chromosomal stuff going on - our fingers are crossed, but this may not go according to plan!

  • My husband said he hasn’t eaten this much fast food since before we met and it’s great 😂

@mk2022x boobs are definitely deflated here as I think I've finally weaned the toddler. And my husband thinks I use my nausea as an excuse to not do things like clean dishes. He does it, but he definitely gives side eye and says you know it's all in your head right?

@paigeb26027 insomnia last night was terrible. I just kept thinking about the fact I'm traveling alone with my young daughters and all the terrible things that could happen. We live in a very rural area and I never have these worries. Currently in Albany, which isn't a huge city, but with its location on so many high ways, I started thinking about the fact I open the 3 year olds door so she can climb in and get her buckle on as I go to the other side to do it for the 1 year old, and someone could have easily snatched her yesterday and been off before I could even do anything.

Then I was thinking about what if there was a shooting at our hotel where would we hide. Could someone shoot the door open and find us because they saw in traveling with just two small children and no spouse.

Then when I finally almost fell asleep the loudest air conditioner ever turned on and woke both my kids up crying... It was a rough night.

Eta: just got on the elevator and saw a sign saying to be on the look out for human and if we are part of it that they're here to help. Along with signs to look out for. I guess I'm not totally crazy paranoid.
  • @jhysmath deflated boobs over here too! Still working on night weaning..
  • Definitely starting to feel better (11w5d) but still battling exhaustion. Constipation is just a normal thing these days, and hemorrhoids to complement that now. Woohoo! My husband has definitely put on some extra pounds in "sympathy"...I've been cooking more of our meals which include veggies, but that first month or so was brutal and we had unhealthy, convenient takeout most evenings. Also, it's the tail end of winter and we've been cooped up for months because of the frigid temps. I think things (even my GI issues) will ease up once the weather gets nicer and we naturally have more activity outdoors.
  • I hear you on the constipation. Mine has gotten so much worse since I started my progesterone suppositories too.

  • @lalarose22 nap was my last to wean, because we've been driving places she's taken car naps. I don't know what this means for normal days. I'm afraid it means the end of nap. My first became a nap beast after weaning and I used to have to hold her in bed until she gave up fighting.
  • I had round ligament pain for the first time in my life and HOOOLLLYYY what a crazy thing. So many new feelings that I haven’t felt before. Now I know why the pregnancy pillow is going to be my new BFF.
Also dealing with the vivid dreams disrupting my sleep, and the exhaustion.

Growing a baby is hard work ladies. You’re all doing awesome :)

Does anyone else get an extremely dry mouth at nighttime? I drink 2 litres of water (with many bathroom trips) just to make it through the night 😪
  • Usually only when I take a Benadryl to help me sleep.

  • @aaj1821 Yes!! At first I thought it was just my Covid symptoms back in January but it’s every night!! Drinking water all day and even a full glass or two throughout the night. Makes getting through the night without a pre break or two impossible.
  • Hm...went down to a half dose of unisom and the nausea is back full-force. I'm not sure if these things are related or if it's just luck of the draw. I'm in the living room, hiding from the very idea of food while my husband eats dinner.

@mnmomma84 I’m glad someone can relate! I also read covid can cause dry mouth too so it’s hard to know the true cause (I just got over covid a few days ago, congestion onto of pregnancy congestion and not being able to take medicine was AWFUL)
  • I can now say I’m in the vivid dreams category. I don’t even remember most of it just that it was extremely odd and felt so real. And it happened in the 45 mins when I woke up before my alarm. I’ll need to start keeping a journal for these… 😂
  • @jhysmath my mom told me that if anyone tries to tell me that the morning sickness is in my head, I have her permission to barf down their neck. I'll pass the permission on to you😂
  • @babywiik I haven't barfed since my first from it. I learned I only barf if I eat or drink something on an empty stomach, so instead first trimester I'm just nauseous the whole time. I think if I was barfing he'd believe me more. I feel like the constant feeling like I'm going to barf is worse than barfing sometimes.
  • @mk2022x haha yes, DH is definitely benefiting from my cravings. He calls everything "sympathy symptoms" - he needs ice cream when I need ice cream, etc.
  • Anyone else having wicked headaches? I thought second trimester was supposed to be the honeymoon phase but I just have headaches all day every day.
  • The hot water hitting my eyelids in the shower makes my head hurt.

  • @jhysmath 100% agree! I've barfed so many times just so I dont feel sick but it's always short lived🤢
  • Anyone else have extreme tail bone pain?

I did with my last pregnancy (I'm assuming I eventually will with this one too). The only thing that helped was a chiropractor, and oh my gosh, I felt immediately better.
