@jhysmath the other blood work I did at the same time already posted on my online portal so I assume the glucose test will also post very soon. They just send the blood upstairs to the lab so the tech that drew the blood wouldn’t have the numbers for me to ask at the time. I did my own finger prick though and it was 153. I’ve been testing sporadically the past few days and my numbers were fine so I was really surprised, I actually thought I was going to be in the clear at least until they tested me again at 26 weeks or so. UGH. It was bad last time and there was no controlling it with diet alone, no matter what I did. Between the extra doctor appointments and the diet, GD was literally a full time job. I am absolutely dreading doing this again.

  • If we do end up with a few ladies in here with GD, I'm thinking we should make a thread for that so ya'll can share food ideas.
    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • @kboydbowman yeah for sure! Sharing food ideas, meds/management, extra treatment, concerns, commiserating, etc.
  • Have already had 2 dating scans (8w3d) but finally saw my OB today! She said my blood work and ultrasounds looked beautiful. I have rheumatoid arthritis and worried about this posing a risk to the pregnancy but she isn’t worried at all which is a relief!
  • So I guess I didn't post this before... But no need now! Congrats. That's a great number!

    @theblondebump
I'm sorry you had it a lot more rough than I did. I was able to control mine with diet, though my fasting numbers were slowly creeping up. They were always bad when I didn't get a good nights sleep. I'm worried that my numbers especially fasting will be awful when I have 2 kids and they wake me up so much. I didn't end up with any extra appointments except for a growth US at like 33 weeks (where they found she was breech).  Just keeping up with the eating schedule I was given and checking my blood felt like another job I can't imagine having to deal with extra appointments too. From some of the GD groups I'm in on facebook it seems like there are so many different approaches to GD.

  • @jhysmath ugh yes I was considered high risk because of the GD so from 34 weeks on, I had to have 2 non-stress tests and a fluid check each week, in addition to my regular ob appointment. It was awful!
  • So I realized that when I scheduled my NIPT appt, I went ahead and just combined it with my 12-week checkup (which is next week). This morning, I was like "why the heck did I do that when I could go get my blood drawn this week (11 weeks) and find out gender a week earlier?" Sooo of course I called and scheduled my NIPT draw for Thursday morning :smirk:
  • @Amphibious22 I think you have a follow-up ultrasound today. Sending you positive thoughts. ❤️

  • @Amphibious22 thinking of you today 💕
  • @Amphibious22 Thinking of you today!!
  • @Amphibious22 so long. I'm sorry you will be in limbo that much longer. I'm hoping these past weeks of stress were just terrible undue stress like I went through with both of my daughters.
  • Yes, @Amphibious22, thinking of you!!!!
    Current pregnancy -

  • @Amphibious22 your likely on your way now. Know that we're thinking of you. If you need a distraction here are a couple memes
  • @kboydbowman I like option 2 as well. Did you have any warning signs you were dilating lady time? I feel like dilating can be painful?
  • No.  Further info behind the spoiler because of potential for trigger.

I had my anatomy scan at 20 weeks and everything was fine (although OB tells me that a lot of times cervical stuff is hard to catch with abdominal US - really need transvaginal), and then at 22 weeks I dropped my mucus plug and when I went to the ER it was discovered that I was ~3 cm dilated (likely why I dropped my plug) and the amniotic sac was protruding through the cervix (no idea how long I had been dilating before I dilated enough to drop the plug).  They immediately admitted me and put me on full bed rest.  The cervical check itself caused a leak in my amniotic sac.  The leak eventually led to more active labor 3 days later.  Took me two hours to convince them I was actually in labor (I was timing my contractions w/an app, and they were 3-4 minutes apart by the time they finally listened to me).  They tried to stop them via magnesium, but then my water broke about half an hour later (in seriously like the most dramatic Hollywood fashion ever) and then we hit emergency C-section (at which point I was apparently already 7 cm dilated).

  • @kboydbowman wow that is scary, I think I would want weekly or daily checks and the cerclage at an early date. I figured there would be some sign. I feel like my cervix has pain when I get my period so I figured there'd be some pain.
  • Yeah, it was a shitshow.  Because of the potential for miscarriage/rupture with the cerclage, I'm willing to go the monitoring route first.  I like my OB a lot and I don't think she would offer it as an option if she didn't feel it was a viable alternative.  We'll still do the cerclage if needed if my cervix starts to get weird.

  • I know a few women who have had a cerclage and all went fine so at least if you have to go that route eventually, it doesn’t sound terrible, but I agree with you 100% that if your ob didn’t think option B was safe, she would not have given it to you as an option. Or would have at least said, these are your two options, but I would strongly recommend A. Fingers crossed for a cooperating cervix! 🤞🏼
  • We had our first US this past Thursday and found out we are having triplets!!! One fraternal and a set of identicals. We are equal parts excited and freaking out. We have another US this Friday to check on them again and hopefully get a clearer view of the identicals and to make sure they are in separate sacs. I’m so nervous! Any other multiples moms here?

Hey @knottie3b233485946e7263 welcome to the board and congrats on triplets! What a ride that's going to be for you. Please read the *read this first* thread and then introduce yourself in the introduction thread

  • Congratulations!  I believe we have a "moms of multiples" thread somewhere, and there will be a new one each month.  Right now, among our ladies who are active in the thread, we have four other known multiples, although they are all twins.  We also have at least one or two ladies who already have twins from previous pregnancies.  Please stop by the Introductions thread and introduce yourself

  • @kboydbowman so glad your ultrasound today went well!!
  • @wiseh Victim of the time difference...US was yesterday :)

  • @kboydbowman haha damn! I thought it was on top of it. Bump doesn't show time stamps greater than 24hrs so wasn't sure what time you'd posted. I'm glad it went well regardless of the date <3
  • Heh.  Silly Aussies. :)

  • Went in yesterday doc says I’m 8+1, I thought I was at 8+5 so that was helpful! Baby’s HR is 155 - the machine was so old doc said she can just count it after looking at so many.
Didn’t have many questions so the appointment was quick- definitely going in more prepared next time!

Not sure how to add pics of the ultrasound quite yet but I’ll get it figured out and share the lil bean :)
  • Hi everyone! I had my very first appointment with baby number two on Tuesday. I should have been measuring 9w 2d but whenever she did the US I was measuring 7w 3d. The baby had a heart beat of 173. Everything looked good but I’m just concerned with being two weeks behind. I got a positive test on January 16th so if I’m only at 7 weeks currently, I would have been 3 weeks when I tested positive. Has anyone been through this? I go back March 4th for another US to see if the baby is developing! Hoping for the best!
  • Honestly that sounds like a VERY high heart rate for 7+3.  Normal HR for 7ish weeks is more like 120.  I'm going to guess that their measurements were off, because 173 is more like a 9-10 week HR.  I bet your original count is more accurate.  Hopefully the next US gives you some more definitive answers.  Make sure to stop by the introductions thread and introduce yourself!

  • Knottie, at our first US we were 7+3 and babe had a heart rate of 162. Doctor said it was very strong and healthy :)
  • I updated on PGAL but in case some people aren't checking that... I had my 12 wk. appt. today and I was so nervous, but they found heartbeat immediately! It was 170 which sounded high, but my doctor seemed happy with it and quickly said she thinks it's a boy. The nurse agreed. Guess we will find out if their guesses are correct by the end of the week!
  • @whitta1015 I believe the old wives tale says high hb means boy...both of my girls had hbs around 150
  • @jhysmath I think my girl was around 150 too. I need to go back and look.
  • @whitta1015 that’s such great news! The heartbeat was high on my last ultrasound too, about 175. My OB said that happens when the baby has been moving around a lot, just like when we exercise. Sure enough, we watched a few minutes and the baby started moving all over the place :)
  • @whitta1015 yay! My LO's heartbeat was also 170 bpm at 11 + 3. I'm convinced ours is a boy, too!
  • @lalarose22 It'll be fun to compare when we know what they are!
