If there are no large clumps, it's probably normal. Might be old blood from implantation.

New here and finally able to post! I’m unconfirmed 6 weeks along. I’ve been having some on and off spotting and bleeding last few days. Going to the doctor today to hopefully get some answers. I’m not feeling very positive I have 2 kids and this is the first time I’ve bled during a pregnancy. Just wanting to share since we haven’t told anyone about our pregnancy yet.
I had a teeny bit of spotting yesterday after sex. I know it is totally normal but my PGAL brain is struggling with it. Haven't needed a pad at all & honestly if I wasn't "searching" for it so much I probably wouldn't have even noticed. First ultrasound is in the morning & I am just praying for that itty bitty heart beat.

I am 7 weeks + 3 days today, and for the 3rd time since I found out I was pregnant I am spotting. The first was around 5 weeks and it was pale pink and very faint so I’m pretty certain that was implantation bleeding. Around week 6 I had 2 days of brown spotting which freaked me out but everything I was reading online said brown was standard and not a concern, I thought it might be old blood from the implantation bleed. So I relaxed and it went away. But just yesterday at 7 weeks 2 days, I started the brown spotting again and as of this morning it’s still there. I won’t be seeing the doctor for my first ultrasound for another 2-3 weeks so I can’t help but feel anxious about it. Doesn’t seem like this can be attributed to implantation anymore? Has anyone else experienced on and off spotting in their first trimester?
That’s how mine started. It was a small bit and then nothing. A larger amount and then nothing. One day nothing the next day sore and spotting for about a week and a half. I was so upset and hating going to the bathroom and not knowing what I would see. I had a small SCH though and some of my spotting wasn’t old blood. They found it when I went to the ER bc I was freaking out about it. With careful rest I have been spot free for a little over a week now. Don’t get to have my first appointment until February 10th though. I would just say take it very easy on yourself and prioritize you and baby. I was on pelvic rest, technically still am until my appointment, to be safe.

Hi all, just looking for some support. I had a sudden bout of diarrhea yesterday morning, accompanied by back pain and some serious cramping. When it was over, the back pain and cramps lingered and I noticed all of my pregnancy symptoms had reduced significantly or altogether disappeared- dizziness, breast soreness, nausea. No bleeding yet but I think it’s only a matter of time. I made an appointment with my doctor today to confirm what I think is going on. My doctor doesn’t seem to be taking me 100% seriously and thinks because of my previous loss that I’m freaking out over nothing, but I don’t know how to explain away that constellation of symptoms. I know this isn’t technically bleeding or spotting like the board says but I figured it was the most appropriate place to post about it. I feel completely gutted and could use a kind word or two ❤️
@blanket_girl I’m so sorry. I’m glad you have an appointment tomorrow to check everything out. Let’s hope you are being overly concerned and you get good news. But I can’t imagine how stressed and sad you must feel right now. I’m sorry. I really hope it’s not what you think.
I’m having my own freak out tonight. Not based on anything other than just not having a lot of symptoms. My appointment is not until Friday.
@blanket_girl that sounds awful. I’m glad you’re able to see your doctor tomorrow.
If it’s any consolation, all my pregnancy symptoms stopped and I have been spotting for 3 days and then today symptoms have returned with a vengeance and spotting has stopped. I went to hospital & they did bloods which seemed normal and I hopefully have ultrasound tomorrow (I’m on emergency wait list) to make sure everything is ok. But the fact symptoms have returned I am taking it as a good sign. Fingers crossed your symptoms have just taken a temporary hiatus as well ❤️
@blanket_girl The other ladies have said exactly what I was thinking. Please take it easy and keep us updated. I'll be sending some prayers your way. 💛
@blanket_girl I will cross my fingers that you've just been having a rough day. Keep us apprised. I would say don't worry until you have more news, but I know you can't help but worry. I'll be thinking of you.

Ok I’m 7 weeks & 6 days pregnant. I experienced dark blood spotting for 8 days & then a gush. I went to the ER last Wednesday & did a follow up with a doctor a few days later after finding out I have a small subchorionic hemorrhage. My doctor said it’s common & to continue with my daily activities. I took a few days off work & went back yesterday (I work in a bar so I’m on my feet for at least an entire 8 hour shift running around). Well last night my blood is no longer dark, it’s more of a fresh blood red color. I’m freaking out because I thought I might be almost in the clear because it’s been 2 weeks of bleeding & now I’m worried it’s gotten worse. Has anyone else experienced this? Can someone offer advice if so? Thank you!
@elizabethnielsen12 SCHs can sometimes take a few weeks to clear up. If it's not clotty it's *probably* still just the SCH, particularly if you're not having substantial cramping to go with it. However, if you're concerned, call your doctor again and see what they say.

Thanks so much everyone for your thoughts and kind words! My doctor did a scan and says everything looks totally fine. Heartbeat still fluttering away and baby was moving like crazy!
I was really scared because I will be 9 weeks tomorrow and I just couldn’t imagine how you could lose your symptoms so fast and it not be a sign of a problem. Wish I had just been able to enjoy feeling good for a few days rather than spiraling, but I guess that’s what previous losses does to you…
Reading your comments before my appointment made me feel less alone, and I’m really grateful for that. Thank you, ladies ❤️
@wiseh The return of your symptoms sounds like a very positive sign, but I know how hard it can be to just not worry about it, esp given the spotting. I’ll be thinking of you, and I’m wishing you good luck for your ultrasound 💕
@blanket_girl thank you for sharing! I feel like I’m losing symptoms today & just freaking out over it. Saw babe last week with a strong HB, but I’m not just exhausted today so it’s making me so nervous.
@bumptink it’s so hard not to worry, isn’t it? I hope we both feel miserable again tomorrow.. only half kidding. In the meantime, just try to ride it out and remember that chances are very good that everything is fine
@kboydbowman @elle-0409 thank you ladies for your responses 💜💜 I spoke to my boyfriend’s sister who worked in a fertility clinic for several years & had SCH with all 3 of her kids. She helped calm me down!

Hi all, haven’t been on here in a while. I just got over covid last week and have just been exhausted this past week. Anyways, I’m 9 weeks and 2 days today and after going to the bathroom this morning I noticed some light pink blood and now I’m freaking out. I know it can be normal to have spotting in the first trimester but I’ve already had 3 miscarriages, plus I have uterus didelphys, and a few mental illnesses (all usually well under control, but hormones do kinda mess with that control), plus the whole over 35 geriatric pregnancy thing (I hate that term!) so it’s really hard for me to stay calm with anything even slightly out of the ordinary. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Tuesday already, but I’m wondering if I should go to the ER today just in case. Or should I just try to calm down and wait it out since there’s barely any blood and no pain or anything and all my other normal pregnancy symptoms are still there (seriously I never knew my boobs could be this sensitive). Anyways, thanks for reading, just really needed to vent.
You can always call if you're concerned, but TBH if you *are* miscarrying, there's not really anything to be done. However, as you said, you have a touch of a light pink blood and no clots, so most likely it's just cervical sensitivity. Your OB/US visit is only two days away. If it were me, unless the bleeding escalates, I would try to stay calm (ha!) and just be good to yourself for the next few days until your visit.

@Amphibious22 wanted to check in - what's the next step for you as far as figuring out what's going on? Is there another US soon?

I’m so lost and depressed and frustrated. Shortly after testing positive around week 5 I started spotting. Wasn’t too worried since it was minimal. But then it got worse to where it was enough bleeding to cover a pad over the course of a day and this continued on and off for about 1.5 weeks. OB gave me a Rhogam shot and checked HCG. Initial was 61, then two days later was 65, then a few more days after that was 55. They haven’t done a scan on me at all yet and the next available one for me is not until two more weeks! I haven’t bled for the past 1.5ish weeks and am still experiencing the same pregnancy symptoms I had with my first kid.
With the atypical hcg levels the OB is not hopeful and I had pretty much accepted a loss but now that my hcg isn’t dropping as fast as they thought it would for a loss and my symptoms are still progressing I’m in agony waiting for more information. I’m stuck not knowing if I have had a loss or partial loss, an ectopic pregnancy, or weirdness from my PCOS and a viable pregnancy and it’s tearing me up inside since up until the third hcg level they weren’t going to scan at all and had convinced me everything was over.
Every day is agony not knowing and feeling wholly unsupported by my OB staff. My previous OB would have never left me hanging like this and I loved her and would have gone to her again but tragically she recently committed suicide. I’m not getting the chance to mourn my loss or celebrate my pregnancy either way for what will end up being most of the first trimester by the time my first scan is done. It’s been around two weeks now since they’ve even tested my hcg so I am completely in the dark. I hate this helplessness so much.
@eegarrod That sounds like a really awful limbo state to be in. Based on what you've said here, I'm going to guess that you did indeed have a loss, but it may have been incomplete (which would explain the residual HcG) and need further intervention (D&C). Hopefully the US/scan will tell you more, but it's horrible to have to wait another two weeks to find out. Please keep an eye out for indicators of infection (e.g., a fever) or an ectopic (e.g, abdominal pain) and don't hesitate to go to urgent care/the ER if you notice anything out of the ordinary in the meantime.

@eegarrod I personally (if your insurance would cover it) would go to the ER you can make up something saying there was more bleeding or pain or something and they could run an US right then and there. My first pregnancy was a miscarriage and I went to the ER because we weren't at home. It was a blighted ovum. They did an US but wouldn't show me anything during it as it was ER policy "because people use the ER just to see their baby and waste ER time and resources" so that sucked, but there was no baby, and just an empty sac so I didn't miss anything.
@kboydbowman still waiting for my US on Monday. I'm remaining positive until then. No point in letting the depression and sadness take over until I know for sure.
