  • I had my first scan today and baby measured on track! I had estimated about 6+5 and they measured it to be 7+0! HR was 127 which I’m happy with.

Now, I need to get my first midwife appointment scheduled!
  • *potential TW*

I had my first appointment this afternoon and they did an ultrasound which had me measuring 6 weeks 1 day, a little earlier than originally predicted. There was no heartbeat though. She said it could simply be that it's too early for a heartbeat or it could be that this isn't a viable pregnancy. I'm really trying to not freak out too much since 6+1 is really early and totally feasible for there to not be a heartbeat yet. I got blood drawn though and will get another draw on Saturday to see if my hCG levels have doubled. Also another ultrasound scheduled for the 14th. Please keep your fingers crossed that my levels look good and this was just a slightly too early u/s.

  • @Amphibious22 I’m praying for you. I’m thinking good thoughts and keeping everything crossed that it was just too early. My good friend had an ultrasound at 6 weeks with the same no heartbeat. She went back two weeks later and everything was fine. I’m hoping your HCG results are encouraging. Hugs. Hang in there.
  • I'll be thinking about you @Amphibious22

    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • @Amphibious22 So many prayers and good vibes coming your way. 💛

  • @Amphibious22 if it's possible you actually are 6+1 that's completely possible. I went in at 6+3 with my second pregnancy (first baby) and I was told I was measuring 7+4 (which aligned with the lmp I gave them even though I told them I ovulated on CD 22 not 14 and have a 10 day luteal phase 🙄 why believe the mom? ) and there should be a heartbeat, even though I knew exactly when I ovulated and I was 6+3 they told me no hb and I would miscarry. I was told come back in a week if I didn't miscarry naturally and we'd make a plan. When I went back I told them I wasn't another US, and they're they found the hb. I am hopeful the same is true for you. I know how tough this week will be for you, to take my mind off of things we impromptu moved that week and my husband's principal who knew I was pregnant and was helping us move would get very angry any time I went to lift something heavy.
  • @jhysmath I would say it's definitely possible that I was actually 6+1 bc my cycles vary anywhere from 29-34 days and my past few cycles have been above 32 days. Since most due date calculators assume you have a 28 day cycle, it feels plausible that my due date would be a few days later if I had a longer cycle and therefore ovulated later. I waited until CD37 to test too so it's hard to know how early I could've turned a test.

  • @Amphibious22 with the longer cycle, I'm definitely going with its just too early. Long cycles make things tricky when you're not the generic 28 days for them to measure.
  • @Amphibious22 Sending you every positive thought. <3

  • @Amphibious22 Sending you lots of positive energy and hope that all will be well at your next appointment.   <3
  • Thanks all. I had my blood drawn again today and unfortunately it only counts as my first draw. The lab ran the wrong tests for my draw on Thursday, so now I have to go again on Monday to get my second set of numbers. Still keeping my fingers crossed it looks good.

  • @Amphibious22 in sorry they messed up and you're still in limbo, so know if you're further along doubling time can be more than 48. When they ran my blood when I had no hb for my first daughter at 6+3 they said my hcg wasn't doubling until almost 72 hours so that paired with no hb meant I was going to miscarry. With my second daughter at over 8 weeks, my first draw went from something around 90k down to 72k and again they used these numbers to say it was definitely molar. All that to say, when you're obsessively checking your portal for results, don't go into a Google black hole of despair. 💕
  • I have my first OB appointment this week at 10 weeks and I have no idea what to expect. I keep hearing about people getting their appointments at 6-8 weeks but they wouldn’t see me at all until 10 weeks. Does anybody know what happens at these later first appointments?
  • Same thing.  Dating ultrasound, talk about the visit schedule, general information on nutrition, labs....

  • @kibeth84791 my first appointment also included a pap.

    @kibeth84791

My first appointment will be at 10 weeks too, on Valentine’s Day! A little bummed because they had to reschedule from this week… how long did everyone’s first US take?

It was originally scheduled as a 2-HR appt with an hour dedicated to the US, and now it’s just a 1-HR with a whopping 10 minutes for our US. I asked about it but didn’t get a good answer. Can’t help but feel a little shafted. It’s our very first so I have no clue what to expect!
  • @oh-suzicue My ultrasound took about 12 minutes, so I'm sure they'll get what they need. During the first one they are usually checking that baby is there, how blood flow is, and the size of your ovaries. It seems to be more about Mom's body than about the baby, though seeing the little gummy bear is one of the perks.

  • Oof okay I got my numbers and I wish I could say I feel good, but I don't. HCG was 33,000 on Saturday and 36,000 today. So an increase, but definitely not even close to doubling. My ob basically said I'm still in limbo. It could be an indicator of a MMC or it could still be a viable pregnancy. Gonna have to wait until next week for any real answers. 😔😔

  • @Amphibious22 :( I’m crossing every finger and toe for good news for you!
  • @Amphibious22 I'm so sorry. I love that your ob is holding out hope though. Mine never did that. I'm hoping Mondays US shows that everything is fine.
  • @Amphibious22 Thinking of you and hoping for good news!!
  • @Amphibious22 What a crummy limbo to be in. I hope you're able to get a better answer very soon. 💛

  • @Amphibious22 sorry you are having to play the waiting game. Crossing my fingers for you!
  • just had my video visit with the NP.  The antibiotic debate continues and we agreed to put it on hold until my visit with the OB.  I've discovered two other antibiotics that are category A and B that are for UTIs that they did *not* culture my urine for resistanc to (erithromyacin and autmentin), so I'm going to make a pitch for seeing if either of those is an option.

  • @jamiesc58 I’m glad the doctor ordered the ultrasound for you! Stress management and sanity is so important during this journey!
  • @jamiesc58 I read this as nap at first and was like "man that sounds nice". I guess that shows where my mind is.
  • @dandou a nap sounds amazing right now!
  • Had my appointment today. Little Bean is measuring a little ahead but we didn’t have a due date change. Got a bunch of blood drawn for tests and should find out baby’s gender soon! It was so awesome to see my Bean moving around on the ultrasound!
  • Currently at my 1 hour glucose test! Wish me luck!!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
  • @theblondebump good luck! As a fellow GD mom I hope you don't have it.
  • Good luck on your glucose test!! I had my 2-hour test Monday and just barely "passed" so my doc wants to retest in a few weeks.
All this nap talk makes me want to curl up under my desk and snooze!
  • @jhysmath I’m pretty sure I failed and I am totally gutted right now 😔 I wouldn’t wish GD on anyone, but I was the ONLY one in my last bump group with GD so I’m at least happy to have someone to commiserate with ❤️
  • @theblondebump
How long is the turnaround for numbers for you? My last pregnancy I took mine at a local hospital (ie band aid station with a lab, no OB services) and I was the only one there so I asked after each draw for them to give me my numbers. I was well versed with what was "passing" or not so I knew I had passed and was excited.

I will commiserate with you every day. We actually had a few people in my bmb that I had GD with and also a mom with T1 who was able to help us get an idea of what we should do. It is such a disappointment when all you had envisioned your pregnancy consisting of is cake and ice cream and then you only get veggies, meat, cheese and eggs.

If you need some ideas, I got pretty creative with my meals and they were pretty tasty.
