Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
I am so over the cold winter weather. I have literally been cold ALL day. I had to take a firey hot shower to warm up. Snow and low temperatures can go away!
@jamiesc58 I’m so cold too! I’ve been cold for weeks. Is this a pregnancy thing? I’m in LA so I feel a bit dramatic, but I’m seriously freezing all the time. Thankfully my husband gave me his really warm fleece jacket that is cozy and also big on me and hiding my very obvious obnoxious early pregnant belly! WTF I’m sure it’s bloat. But I look pregnant. I’m 8 weeks today. WTF. I can’t suck it in and haven’t gained any weight!
@jamiesc58@magnolia209 YES! I feel like this has been the longest, coldest winter! I’m soooo ready for spring. I hear ya on the early belly. I’m 8w2 and I feel I already have a bump? I’m sure it’s mostly bowel lol but it’s crazy to see our bodies change already!
Not just you! i feel like everytime I get to the top of a new week I check the mirror expecting to look like 16 weeks pregnant and nope lol. I know for a FACT my jeans are tighter around my waist. Probably not going to actually try to wear those anymore haha.
Be thankful it hasn't been over 95F for 85 days straight (top temp was 120F in mid Jan for 2 days, right when my morning sickness was ramping up) 🥵🥵 I regret moving to this desolate place hahaha.
I am also super bloated & can't fit into any of my clothes, but I've also lost ~10lbs because I cannot stomach food so that's weird.

Haha yeah @mk2022x I live in the Pilbara in Australia - the land of the "never ending Summer" that sounds super enticing when you move there in winter and absolute hell when you live through an actual Summer 🤣🤣
We are very much looking forward to the winter though - we bought a camper trailer and intend on spending every second weekend (my husband works an 8:6 roster & I WFH) out 4WDing exploring our beautiful countryside.
@wiseh Ugh! That summer sounds awful. Definitely be careful - with losing that much weight, my doctor recommended diclegis last time. I was so sick I could only eat mandarin oranges and lentils. I had lost about 8 pounds between week 4 and week 7. Diclegis works! I’m not trying to push, just letting you know that it is a good option. It’s unisom and B6 - just time released so that you are properly dosed all day.
@magnolia209 I am currently taking Metoclopramide without much affect but I have stopped losing as much weight. I’m going to go back & ask for the ondansetron wafers on Monday because they really helped last time but not recommended as first port of call in first trimester.
We just had a snow day called for tomorrow. I'm sure other teachers can attest that a snow day being called a day in advanced is unheard of. I'm so excited.
Also my mom, sister, niece, brother and his partner are coming up for the weekend and my brother has rented a house and we're going skiing Saturday. I'm looking forward to it. I've told them I'm only going for a half day and only buying a bunny hill pass because we're taking the 3 and 1 year old out and I don't see it lasting that long. Really it's because I don't want to go on the harder slopes and risk falling. This trip has been planned since before I got pregnant and I don't want them to know that I am yet. So easy baby slopes for us 😉
@jhysmath that sounds like such a fun day!! It's been well over a decade since I've gone skiing, so I'd be rocking the bunny slopes pregnant or not.
Also I'm sure it's in your intro, but what grade/subject do you teach? I'm planning on making a change to teaching middle school science next year. Zookeeping just isn't a very family friendly career.

I agree with all the winter statements! In MN, it was -22F when I was dropping my kids at school this morning. That doesn't include the wind chill factor, either! I'm so over it and want to stay in my stretchy pants, wrapped in a warm blanket on the couch for the rest of the winter days. I ordered a belly band for my pants. I have about 3 pairs that I can manage to button at this point (thanks bloat and constipation!), and the hair tie trick can only work for so long.
@Amphibious22 I teach high school math. Middle school science sounds like a lot of fun though. Especially because you can bring your experience in to it and have awesome class pets 😉
We got snow.... My husband told the at home daycare we send the 1 year old to, and on Friday afternoons when preschool closes early, the 3 year old to, that we would likely drop them off for the morning even though school is canceled because we were going to clean.... Normally we do them off clean and sneak in some mama-papa time and she said ok. This morning I get a text from her that she's decided to close because there's too much snow to shovel??? I'm pretty sure she gets her drive way plowed and then shovels the walk way. There's not a crazy amount of snow outr that's, maybe 5 inches and it looks fluffy and light. I feel like she's still actually open, but didn't want to get stuck with our kids. There are 7 families, 3 of which are teacher kids.... And we're still paying her.
So I'm only a little bit freaking out this morning and decided to take another pregnancy test. The thing turned positive immediately. Like even before there was a control line, there was a pregnancy line. Gonna take that as a small win this morning and hoping work will take my mind off things a little bit. Luckily belugas are cute and walruses are goofy so they usually help. Also sorry in advance for you guys probably witnessing my crazy for the next week.

@Amphibious22 Crazy away! Do anything you need to get through.
And, please tell us more about the animals! I think many of us are feeling a bit crazy and could use the distraction. I work in academic programming and while there is a shocking amount of drama involved in this, spreadsheets and enrollment data and zoom meetings are not enough to keep my mind off of the pregnancy situation!
@magnolia209 I’ve been seriously so cold too! I feel like I can’t shake the coldness I was wondering if it’s a weird symptom lol. I am also SO bloated I look pregnant which yeah I know I am but I don’t feel like I should LOOK it yet lol. I’ll be 9 weeks tomorrow and I feel like I look 4 months pregnant especially at night. It’s so uncomfortable!!! Lol
@Amphibious22 Oh my goodness. He's so cute! We don't have those at our zoo. I think my favorite animals to watch are the sea lions. They're so entertaining!
So just putting this out here as a possible resource. I am a member of a “Buy Nothing” group in my area on Facebook. There’s usually lots of baby clothes and items and some maternity items up for grabs. It’s totally free, no money or trades - just gifting. You can also wish for items or share gratitude. We just got a like-new baby swing! Slowly going to be stocking up items. It is by far the nicest and most positive group I’m a member of on social media. I definitely recommend seeing if your area has one!
@mokay19 I guess I should have bit my tongue when there was like 2 a week.
@laj0217 the only one near me only accepts people who live in that town which bums me out, I would so travel the hour to get things I need or give away things I don't.
@mokay19 I know! I wonder if we are being too nice. I feel like my last BMB was so snarky and it kept things in line.
@laj0217 Yes! Buy Nothing groups are the best. They are also super helpful for cleaning out stuff you don’t need anymore to make space for all the new baby stuff. It’s a shame they aren’t in every area though.
I'm exhausted. I need another weekend to depeople from spending the weekend with my family in a cabin. In better news I didn't fall while skiing and my legs are not sore, but my arms are from carrying the 34 lb 1 year old because she didn't like standing with skis on. She was ok when we would ski, and on the chair lift, but waiting she needed to be held all the time.
Anyone doing anything for their SO for Valentine's Day? I decided to throw a gift basket together for DH with: Card, Chocolates, Beef Jerky, A bottle of his favorite Bourbon, 6pack of Ginger Ale (to mix with), and some grilling seasonings.
@whitta1015 I'm getting my husband a chocolate sampler (his request), some Reese's, and a card. He doesn't usually buy himself treats, but I wanted to spoil him a little this year because he's been so amazing.
@whitta1015 we're not really gift givers, but we usually try to go out for a nice dinner. Honestly with the stress of everything this week and with the 14th being my u/s, we're just trying to survive. Maybe we can pretend Valentine's day is the week after and plan something then.

@whitta1015 we usually make a nice steak dinner and just eat in and avoid the crowds. No idea what we’re doing this year. I never ever thought I’d say this, but steak doesn’t sound good 🙊
@whitta1015 hubby’s birthday is tomorrow so we don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day. We do usually go out to dinner as pseudo-birthday/v-day. 🤷🏼♀️
@laj0217 he made it for us this weekend. it didn’t sound good to me at all before but dang, the second I sat down and ate it, it hit different 😂 so good lol
@whitta1015 my husband's birthday is Friday. We will do something for that, but since having kids we don't really do anything for valentine's day. Before kids or was go out to dinner, or give a card. I think I got flowers one year when we were both working and couldn't do anything during the week and I was living with my parents after college.
I'm not a holiday person, but my US is on VD, so hopefully he'll get to see a wiggly baby for VD.
