Re: January Symptom Thread

  • @bridgiebee82 @brittanynmorris @mdfarmchick every. single. night. I’ll wake up around 2:30-2:45, get up to pee, try to lay back down, and will still be awake when MH’s alarm starts going off at 3:30 my time (he works in Eastern time most days; I work in Central time). Once that starts I’m up until he gets up. Then the dog comes and snuggles into his warm spot and the cats come to snuggle and all is right again until my alarms start going off. This was not an issue before Lil Bear. Trade offs. Grow a human, immediately start practicing your functional exhaustion levels. 😂

  • @hola_knotties I haven't had any pregnancy headaches but raw carrots help my regular headaches! I've had a couple serious headaches and after a handful of carrots, 10 mins later..gone!

@bridgiebee82 I fall asleep immediately and am out cold until 2:30 or 3 and then can't seem to fall back asleep. Wish I had a solution!
  • @kbtt2022 that's an interesting one, never heard of that. I'll try it next time. Last time, i was at a friends house and had an apple and it went away for about 30 minutes. Maybe it's the sugar? Maybe it's the chewing?
  • @hola_knotties after my HA disappeared shortly after eating carrots, I looked it up and they have anti- inflammatory properties,  so I assume that is it. Not sure about apples!
  • @kbtt2022 ok. I’m so glad I just saw this. My head is pounding and I’m totally going to try this carrot trick before I bite the bullet and take Tylenol! I’ll update later lol
  • Anybody else’s aversions and nausea make another appearance? Seems like nothing sounds or tastes good anymore. 😕
  • @wigglyicecream no 🤞🏼🤞🏼 But I hope it’s just random and fleeting for you!!

@kbtt2022 idk about that carrot trick. I feel like maybe? But then it came back and now it’s currently gone. I hate half a bag of baby carrots because I found some (FFFC) blue cheese dip to dunk them in. It’s probably pasteurized. I’m not worried. Lol.

  • Update: I don’t think the carrots worked 😔 I took a nap and still have this headache so I’m going to have to take some Tylenol.

@and_peggy idr which pregnancy but I was convinced I peed myself or my water broke because I sweat so much between my legs at night 😝. Since having kids, I regularly have night sweats, esp around af. And it sucks.
  • @ambelance I’m so sorry you had such a rough night the other night. Glad your dr got something called in for you. Mine went away for a week or so and now seems to be coming back. 2nd Tri can’t come fast enough
  • @ambelance I am so sorry you hit a breaking point - it sounds miserable. I'm glad the Zofran is doing wonders for you. Hooray!!

EMOTIONAL! I traveled this week to see family. I was visiting with my 6 year old niece and as it was nearing time for her to go she threw a tantrum.  She was crying and basically being a brat to her parents.  I tried to console her and calm her down. We ended up with her in my lap, hugging and both bawling our eyes out.  I had no idea why I was crying but couldn't stop and it turned into laugh crying. Everyone found it pretty entertaining 🙈
I'm typically not someone who cries in front of others!
  • @and_peggy I am currently laying in a pool of sweat.  The worst.

This is slowly getting better, but I was having the worst nausea when I was scrolling on my phone or driving.  My screentime hours are way down from what they used to be which is not a bad thing, but I’m glad it’s slowly getting better.
  • Oh gosh - glad to see I am not alone, the headaches are so bad! they started about a week and a half ago (I am 12w today) and I have them everyday. Sometimes wake up at night they are so bad and have to take a Tylenol to get back to sleep. I drink loads of water so I think this must just be a symptom. It's what I get for feeling so lucky to have not had any nausea.

Other than that, my boobs have decided to double in size and become so tender! The first two weeks I was pregnant they hurt and then that stopped and I thought it was over. NOPE - soreness has come back with a vengeance - hope this doesn't last the entire pregnancy....
  • Has anyone had symptoms get worse vs better? I’m at 11w4d and I’ve thrown up twice today, the first time just because I got out of bed. Literally that was enough. I was hoping once I hit 11 they would start to improve but it just feels worse. Really hoping things start turning soon…I have my NT scan tomorrow.
  • @buffythevampireslayer my symptoms definitely got worse right before they got better. Week 9&10 we’re the absolute hardest and then week 11 things started to ease up. Now at week 12 I’m feeling relatively normal other than headaches. I really hope this is the peak for you and things ease up for you here soon! Yay for nt scan tomorrow! I hope it goes well!
  • @buffythevampireslayer oh my gosh, yes! I am miserable today! I felt pretty good, just tired up until Saturday. Now I'm 11 weeks, and a raging lunatic! I hope your NT scan goes well. @paytonpedro I'm sorry you're still suffering through the headaches.
  • @buffythevampireslayer +1 to symptoms worsening. My nausea and fatigue was really really mild until early last week (I'm 11 weeks today) and today I've felt like I was hit by a truck and can barely keep anything down. If I'm remembering correctly, weeks 10-13 were the toughest with DS1's pregnancy.
If you aren't on Zofran or anything for the nausea, I found double ginger Tummy Drops on Amazon and they've been working surprisingly well. I just reordered a different flavor and they aren't as effective, so I'd definitely recommend the ginger!
  • @paytonpedro @bridgiebee82 @aukeev thank you all so much. I’m just so impatient at this point but hopefully feeling better is right around the corner. I am going to try the tummy drops!
  • @buffythevampireslayer I hope they work for you! 🤞
  • On the note of sleep, I’ve been sleeping 10-12 hours a lot of nights, but still doesn’t feel like enough. I do wake up every few hours and switch sides. It’s almost comical, because I’m hugging a pillow, I move the pillow to my other side, and flip over to get comfy, then go back to sleep for a few hours. It’s like clockwork. I have been able to sleep pretty well, otherwise, although this morning, I woke up around 5 and had so many random things on my mind, so I couldn’t get to sleep. Once my husband headed to work and I hadn’t yet fallen asleep, I read a few chapters of my fictional murder mystery and slept peacefully for a few more hours.

Some days I wonder just how bad my nausea would still be if I weren’t on Zofran. Once I’m due to take it, I often feel more nauseous and dry heave some. I’m hoping to not get another prescription, however, because I’ll have been on it a month. I’ll be 10 weeks in a couple days. And I don’t think I have quite enough to get through the week.. Maybe I’ll just ask for 2 more weeks of refill.
