What my pregnant self is eating - January.

Re: What my pregnant self is eating - January.

  • @whitta1015 Thank you, thank you! I'll have to try that this weekend!

  • It's begun. Cake and ice cream don't sound good to me. I don't even want cookies. Meat is a hard pass. Salad doesn't sound like a great idea anymore. It's hitting hard.

Pretzels, fried pickles, macaroni and cheese, soup, and mozzarella sticks are really where it's at right now... Honey Nut Cheerios and grapes are solid green light... I gotta look up what sparks the carb crave and figure out how to get protein back into my diet!
  • @leannechristina I made some banana muffins and brownies using protein powder in them so that even when I wanted a carby treat, I am still getting 5-10 grams of protein!
  • @leannechristina I feel you! Pretzels, carrots, strawberries and milk are about all I can tolerate this week. My FIL was trying to get me to eat some meat with my plain butter noodles last night and I couldn't even look at it....
  • @mokay19 that is a great idea! I bought little ensure bottles to help keep up on it lol
@mamamoomoo12 Yes! DH mentioned how I'm suddenly picky. I seriously can't look at some foods without getting icky feelings.

I think the boy person is getting annoyed with me and food.  He'll generally get/make what I ask for and I eat it and it's delicious, but usually if there's leftovers the next time I look at it, it makes me want to barf.  I made myself pasta last night and guilted myself into eating the leftovers today because he's keto'ing and it's cruel to leave carbs around that I know he wants.
    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • I want all veggies this week - DH made minestrone soup in the instant pot tonight and it was delicious. Now I polished off a Rice Krispie treat for dessert which was the perfect pregnant snack 😬
  • Ooh, minestrone sounds yummy!  Recipe for doing it in the instant pot???

  • @kboydbowman yeah! Here’s the recipe, it’s a good one! Usually when friends of mine have babies I make this and put it in mason jars for easy heat up meals. It’s an easy yet delicious one.

  • We'll see if I can get the boy to make some. :)

  • Today all food is gross and disgusing, which is why I am currently eating small slices of cheese and some sauteed mushrooms, because at least neither of those make me want to hurl.

  • @kboydbowman I ate pickle slices because dinner cooking all day in the crock pot has made me not want it. Blah.
  • @jhysmath since the boy person is doing keto, pickles are one of his primary food groups right now.  Every time he opens the jar the smell makes me barfy.

  • @kboydbowman When I had gd they were a go to crunchy snack. I was thinking I need to get some whole ones because the chips are great, but I now need to carry a bowl of them around.

My husband's kielbasa tonight is mostly going in the fridge and I know every time he opens the fridge I'll smell it and also be barfy.

I bought a spiral ham because it looked good and was a good deal, now I'm afraid that I'll smell it cooking all day and not want to eat it. My husband doesn't eat ham, I know I can freeze it, but it seems like such a waste. In my head I want ham and scallop potatoes tomorrow night, then make some quiche for the week and freeze the rest for other egg dishes whenever, but I'm so afraid I won't want to eat it once cooked.
  • @jhysmath I also got ham this week for a quiche, hoping I can stomach it. It sounded good at the time haha.
  • Just bought myself stuff to make Bloody Mary’s!
Mix, Sriracha Gouda cheese, beef sticks, shrimp, green olives, and pickle spears!  My mouth just watered typing this.
  • Made a turkey club for lunch mmmmm, cooking a ham hoping I'll still want it after smelling it for the next 2 hours.
  • Sent DH to Jersey Mike’s for a sandwich. He asked if they could heat the turkey up and they said no. He tried calling me a couple times but I didn’t have my phone, so he didn’t get anything. When he got home he asked if I wanted him to run anywhere else and I told him I’d just have a veggie sandwich from there. So he goes back and gets a veggie sandwich and the guy asks him if he doesn’t eat meat and he said no it’s for my wife and she’s pregnant. And he said “oh we could’ve heated up her meat since she’s pregnant, you just had to say that” 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

  • @lalarose22 How frustrating! But the bright side is now you know for next time!

  • Guys the ham is not disappointing. Let's hope the potatoes au gratin recipe I found is good. Seemed a little too simple but we'll see.
  • Guys... These are delicious. Super easy. I used parmasean instead of cheddar for the cheese.

  • So @jhysmath if you want a funny potatoes au gratin story .. I worked on Christmas this past year and to make dinner easy, I just got like a box for the potatoes, grands rolls, bag of salads etc. So MH goes to make the potatoes and they turn out horrible. Just hot milk and scalloped potatoes. He was freaking out saying it was a bad box and bad instructions. Then when I'm cleaning up, I noticed that he forgot to add the packet of cheese and spices. So he literally thought the recipe was just potatoes and milk and somehow the cheese would magically appear. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

  • @Amphibious22 Too funny!

  • @Amphibious22 that's funny. These ones pretty much were cream and garlic, then add cheese on top. I didn't have high hopes for them seeing how most recipes I saw you were making a white sauce for the potatoes and they had like 30 ingredients. But I got a good deal on cream and bought a bunch so needed a recipe that used cream.
  • @jhysmath yum! I love au gratin potatoes and I agree, every recipe I’ve found on Pinterest has had a million ingredients. I will have to give these a try!
  • Breakfast - leftover stuffed crust pizza with chicken and green olives.
Lunch - roast, potatoes, veggies, rolls, dessert. (We always have a big lunch after church at my sister’s).
Dinner - Asiago cheese bagel with garden vegetable cream cheese.
  • So right now - all the carbs, anything pickled, olives, spicy food, Chick-fil-A fries, chocolate, and mandarin oranges. Anything else just seems ick to me right now.

The last few days I’ve felt 🤢 and sad bc I miss food. 😭
  • I ate Halo Top peanut butter ice cream and scrambled egg whites for my *first* dinner. I swear, if I’m not actively eating the nausea is worse.
