***tw*** spotting/bleeding/threatened loss support thread

This thread is for support and questions around spotting/bleeding. 🖤

Conversations surrounding these issues can be discussed here freely. The TW in the title applies for the whole thread. Please beware of reading ahead if you think you might be triggered by conversations about spotting/bleeding.

Finally, remember that most of us are not medical professionals, and even if we were, it's always best to call/visit your doctor with questions or concerns. Feel free to ask questions and voice concerns, but please do not expect anyone here to be able to offer you anything but support. The most important thing to do is to call your doctor. They can offer answers; we can offer support. 🖤

Re: ***tw*** spotting/bleeding/threatened loss support thread

  • I have been having some small bleeding. We went to the ER this morning and they found a subchorionic bleed. They said it’s common and usually resolves on it’s own. SO and I are just glad LO is ok. We got to see the baby and their heartbeat this morning which made me feel better. I just feel lost as to what to do from here. My OB has shorter hours on Friday’s so I won’t be able to get with them until Monday. Essentially on bed rest until further notice.

  • I had a SCH (subchorionic hemorrhage) with my last pregnancy and it was terrifying, so I feel your pain.

  • I have anxiety and I like plans and to feel in control. Things like this make me feel helpless. I just keep reminding myself that we caught it early and that baby and I are ok. My body was made for this and I have to trust it.

  • I have had spotting for almost a week but nothing in my underwear for the last few days, and only a tiny brown amount today. But I do have cramps still but they aren’t bad. I’m just worried with every feeling I have as this is my first child. I am about 4.5 weeks.
  • @falconlkn could be implantation bleeding.

First pregnancy - I received my first ever BFP on Thursday 1/6 after a year of trying and a cycle of Clomid. My blood test on Friday 1/7 showed my HCG at 19. Today, my blood test showed an HCG of 25, and my RE is expressing concerns over the lack of growth in the levels, as it should be somewhere between 50-60. I’ll go back in on Wednesday 1/12 to check status.

I'm sorry you have so much stress right now. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

  • I started spotting tonight. Pink when I wipe. Crossing my fingers that it doesn’t get worse. My tests are getting darker, but who knows…

  • @elle-0409 The biggest internet hug. I hope it’s nothing. I had spotting around 8 weeks last time and it was nothing. But your OB should see you right away.
  • @elle-0409 So many prayers are being said for you, along with every appendage being crossed. 💛

  • @clairemaere hope all goes well at your appt today!
  • @elle-0409 fingers crossed its nothing serious. Hugs!
  • @elle-0409 and @clairemaere how are you both now? Keeping my fingers crossed for you both  <3
  • Thanks, everyone. I don't *think* I've had anymore spotting, but I keep checking roughly every four minutes. I went on the Walk-in Lab website and ordered an hCG and progesterone test. I was able to take it to a labcorp, so hopefully I'll get my results tomorrow. I can't believe that I have to take all of these extra steps considering my loss history, but there you go. I want to do another hCG in two days, but there are no available appointments, and the receptionist today told me that sometimes she does turn walk-ins away when they're so busy. The earliest appointment I can get is next week on Tuesday.

  • @kboydbowman Yes! Sorry, things have been a little chaotic and I forgot to update here. I ordered bloodwork for myself like a boss and it came back:
    14 dpo 169
    16 dpo 644
    20 dpo 4,413

These look good to me, and I haven’t had any more spotting in the past few days. 🤞🏻 Now I just need to get to the ultrasound on February 7th. The ultrasound is what has me worried because that’s when I knew last time it was a non viable pregnancy. (Although, my hCG that time was doubling every four days, so I kind of knew what was coming.)

Thanks for checking in! I’m kind of nervous to participate at 100% because I’m scared of having to leave if I get bad news. ❤️

  • This morning I woke up to a thick, brown discharge that comes & goes. Spending my day on the couch resting. Ultrasound tomorrow. Trying to send myself positive vibes but it’s hard.
  • @wiseh remember brown = old blood.  So let's be hopeful it's a SCH. I'll be thinking of you.

  • @wiseh Hugs. From what I’ve read as long as you’re not heavily bleeding (changing a pad an hour) bright red blood, spotting in the first trimester is normal. That being said, I spotted and therefore spiraled for awhile, so easier said than done, but try to relax and get some rest. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  • Thank you @babywiik, @trapperkeeper87 & @elle-0409. I stopped spotting just before bed & none since I've woken up. Ultrasound is in 2.5hrs. So nervous but still trying to keep positive!

  • I’m 5 weeks today. Had some light pink spotting last week and went to doc. Everything looked as it should. Today I had some brown spotting but then a small clot. Spotting went away this afternoon but was back this evening. Have an appointment for tomorrow but hoping for some reassurance to get myself calm until then.
  • Will be thinking about you, @jrn62289, and sending positive vibes your way.
    DD 10/2019
  • @jrn62289 I have no advice because I am going through something similar.

Unfortunately at 5 weeks it's usually too early to see a heartbeat on the ultrasound so you might have to wait another week before getting your reassurance

Sending virtual hugs your way and like @kboydbowman said to me above - brown spotting means old blood and @elle-0409 that some spotting in the first trimester is considered normal.
  • @wiseh How was your ultrasound? How are you doing?

We have a heartbeat! But too little to hear/measure. Embryo is measuring ~1 week behind so back in 2 weeks to confirm viability.

No sign of SCH. Ultrasound tech believes it could just be old blood from implantation.
  • @wiseh So many positive vibes coming your way, and a creepy internet hug. 🤞🏻💛🤞🏻

  • Thank you @trapperkeeper87 💚💚💚
  • @wiseh @jrn62289 Thinking of you both. I definitely had some spotting at 8 and 9 weeks in my first pregnancy and my OB took a look and it was absolutely nothing. Just telling you that to hopefully give you hope that it can possibly be nothing because I know scary thoughts ran all around my mind.

I am about to be 6 weeks tomorrow, and started seeing brown spotting yesterday afternoon with more today- all light and brown. Everything I read says normal but of course hard not to worry since this is my first pregnancy. Thank you for sharing your similar experiences as back up! Calling my dr in the morning just to be on the safe side
