Re: January Symptom Thread

  • @paytonpedro oh no! Sending you all the good vibes for a mild case and speedy recovery! I remember in 2020 with the school shut downs, my daughter was thrilled for a couple weeks and then she started getting antsy and missing her friends. Hopefully your kiddos can go back soon...and not drive you insane.  :D

As for my symptoms: in addition to nose bleeds, I'm also sneezing like 50 times a day. It's winter, snowy, and I know it's not allergies. The scent of MH's coffee made me sneeze just a second ago. And before that, the smell of the dish soap.
  • Loading the player...
  • @paytonpedro Sorry to hear that! Hope you feel better soon and I hope your kindergartener stays sane! 😅
  • I think I'm segueing from nauseous all the time to starving all the time at 9+1. I'm still afraid to try any walking around (my biggest nausea trigger), but I may have to test the system tomorrow by walking around the grocery store to replenish the carbs I ate.
  • @starkette I don't know why but that made me laugh. You know, coffee and dish soap, common sneezey scents 😂

My energy totally disappeared after my appointment today. Probably because we're trying to work with DS home *again* - feels like a compounding exhaustion from previous times he's had to stay home and the scramble that ensues. But it also could be pregnancy. Who can say!
  • @paytonpedro oh no! I hope it’s not too bad. Glad your doctor doesn’t seem to be terribly worried though!

I feel like today I’ve been going from “I ate everything all of it all the food on the whole planet and I’m going to be sick” to “I haven’t eaten in a week and I’m going to be sick” every, like, two minutes. Also I’m exhausted today, but I’m blaming that on MH. He rolled over in his sleep and tried to smother me with his pillow, so I had to get up and come to the couch at like midnight because I couldn’t wake him up to roll back over. 😂 I did get to go back to bed about 3:30 thankfully because this couch sleeps like crap on a good day.

  • Thank you all so much for the well wishes!
  • YES @mangoandguava on eating everything and all of it!

I caught a glimpse of my profile in the mirror at work and I look pregnant already.😳 Not sure if it's bloating, all the food I'm eating or the fact that it's twins. I spent the rest of the day trying to suck in. Baggy sweaters for the rest of the week.  Anyone else starting to show?!
  • @kbtt2022 ugh, yes (3rd baby). A hardened kind of midsection that's getting rounder and harder to zip my coat over (I may have to bust out the ugly pregnant coat after all). Oh, and the stretch marks showed up yesterday, kind of all at once all around my belly button, like, "Hey! We're back!"
  • @wisewitch222 I noticed my stretch marks, which were pretty well faded from my last pregnancy, are loud and proud again too! I’m definitely starting to show, but I wasn’t expecting the tiger stripes to be popping so early!
  • @mangoandguava MH also woke me up the other night by knocking me in the head with his elbow (how?!) And made it really difficult for me to fall back asleep with how much space he was taking up. Men!

@kbtt2022 yes! I'm blaming second pregnancy and the "warmed up effect" but for you I'm sure twins are part of it. Here we gooo
  • @wisewitch222 and @mehugg so glad it's not just me! It definitely caught me off guard as I figured I had at least 3 more weeks.
  • I am always cold. Always, even in the summertime I'm wearing a hoodie or a long sleeve shirt. I'm anemic, so I know why. I find myself at night time waking up because I'm so hot, I'm practically sweating the bed! What the heck?!
  • @bridgiebee82 That might be the covid. I read that night sweats are a symptom of omicron.
  • @wisewitch222 & @bridgiebee82 I currently have the covid and last night, my first night with symptoms, I was up all night because I was too cold or too hot, but I also have a pretty pounding headache which didn’t help.
That being said, I have terrible night sweats when I’m pregnant. It gets to the point that I have to check my sheets because I think I peed myself. I was worried once that my water broke, I was soaked. It was all just terrible night sweats.
  • @bridgiebee82 I have been the same way lately, cold during the day and hot at night to the point where I will sweat, especially under my boobs (ugh). I’ve had lots of tests recently and no Covid over here so my guess is it is hormone related!
  • @buffythevampireslayer humidititties is the WORST!

@bridgiebee82 HUMIDITITTIES omg I am DEAD.

Also that is possibly my least favorite place to sweat from. I’m going hot-to-cold on a less consistent cycle than I’ve been seeing y’all talk about but I feel like even when I’m cold, I have the boob sweats.

ETA a whole piece of a thought I forgot 😂

  • My nose it out of control today. My fridge smells AWFUL. I can't even bring myself to open it for fear of the results, but if I don't open it and remove all contents, it will continue to stink. I cleaned it last week, I KNOW it's not dirty, but we're at a standoff over here. Me vs fridge. Please send help, or nose plugs.
  • @maggiemadeit I relate to that! And if I hold my breath I start thinking about why and then dry heave. I asked my husband (who’s being such a trooper) to throw away old things and wipe it down with vinegar water spray. We also keep our opened baking soda in the door to absorb odors. He did and then washed and cut fresh strawberries (we let them sit in a fruit strainer on the plate.) After he did that I still held my breath without thinking about it, and he reminded me it smelled like strawberries. That helped a lot. So long story short, see if maybe a friend or family member can clean it while you’re in the living room (they could even hide some things from sight,) and then perhaps add chopped up fruit in a bowl to make it smell good!❤️
  • So I’ve been nauseous all day everyday, and this week I’ve been throwing up daily. Today was the first time I couldn’t keep liquids down. B6, tummy drops, mint, ginger, snacking on plain crackers, nausea bands, etc… does not help. I called my doctor to ask for a prescription today. Did anyone else feel like Unisom really helped when nothing else did?
  • @meagan-firsttimemommy8-22 first pregnancy I relied on b6 and unisom (25mg b6 3x per day, and half unisom tab at night). The one night I neglect the unisom, I had to lay flat the entire next day! I was horribly nauseous. I never skipped the unisom after that. This time around I'm on prescription strength. My personal experience is that the unisom makes a difference.
  • @maggiemadeit oh man, we had a horrible fridge smell over the summer with zero visible cause. Cleaned the whole thing, top to bottom, and it still reeked! Took weeks for it to go way. So annoying. Right now we have old Christmas food in tupperware that needs cleaning out and I am NOT doing it. That's MH's job but I keep forgetting to bug him about it.

I had lots of pangs last night in my lower abdomen and, um, then had lots of gas. Like neverending gas.  :# Then I felt better. I have the bad taste again in my mouth. Weird how it just comes and goes as it pleases.
  • Today’s new symptom: itchy nipples. super annoying.

@malloryfrommn Thank you! I’m so happy it made a difference for you! Today was the worst after having B6, which I didn’t have the last few days, so it doesn’t seem to be making any difference in improving. I got a prescription waiting for my husband to get off work, thankfully!

Having all this nausea etc.. and looking at all the multiples in the Ultrasound chat has me wondering..😅

    Whoops. Wrong post.
  • Felt fine all day and then had to fight the urge to barf my whole drive home from work. Made it home, but barely. I feel a lot better at least.

  • @coco2787 Glad you feel better now! Hang in there. Moving around, being in a car, or another environment sometimes seems to make those urges come on!
  • Today was my first big bout with nausea. I was in class at lunchtime. We eat with our students in our classrooms (yay pandemic). I can't smell because of covid, but all of a sudden I was like "I'm gonna puke my guts out." Thankfully another teacher happened to be in the hallway and I grabbed her to watch the kids. I *just* made it to the ladies room. Nothing like puking into a school bathroom stall toilet. 😂😂

Also, insomnia is making me crazy. I'm not tired at night, and even with a bedtime routine, dust collects on my eyeballs. Then I'm a zombie all day long.
  • The insomnia is awful @bridgiebee82 I toss and turn all night long and my eyeballs are burning but I can’t.stay.asleep

I am calling my OB tomorrow about it @coco2787 I know unisom is helping people with their nausea. I wonder if it'll help me actually sleep.
  • @bridgiebee82 I take half a unisom before bed and it helps me fall asleep but then at about 3 am the insomnia starts. But it’s better than getting no sleep.

  • @bridgiebee82 Wow! I am sorry you had to deal with that at school! That sounds rough! Hugs to you! I hope you can get a prescription to help. After having trouble keeping anything down today, I called the doctor and they prescribed Zofran today. It’s seeming to help with nausea and vomiting! I only noticed insomnia one night so far, so I don’t know how much of a difference it makes with sleep, but one side effect can be sleepiness as well.
  • Same. I find myself thinking of my symptoms in terms of covid peaks right now. As in, I believe I'm past my peak (my "seven day average" is going down), but today I feel much worse than I did the past two days :/
  • Well...today was my first day of throwing up in the morning. I've been gagging in the morning (normally twice) at the most random times (like picking out my clothings to wear, curling my hair, etc.). Today it was uncontrollable and I only threw up bile. Totally unpleasant. It seems that most of my nausea is true to morning sickness because I'm a quick "jotler" out of bed. I think the fast movements after laying still for eight hours does not sit well with my stomach. I'm going to try a slower wake up method. Haha. Anyway, I know many of you have been getting sick for awhile and I do not envy you. I hope for all of us it gets better soon!
  • @bridgiebee82 omg that sounds awful. That's the worst part of pregnancy, the nausea and insomnia. I'm up every night until at least 2am and then I lay awake anyways. UGH. I really hope you find meds that help!

@brittanynmorris hey! Welcome to the club, it kinda sucks.  :D My sickness comes and goes a lot. Good days and bad days, super inconsistent and I never know what's going to set it off. Joy. Sending hugs!

Insomnia has me in a choke hold, too. Really obnoxious.

My nausea has started to subside at 9weeks, woo-hoo! Although, I know it may still come raging back.

I'm 9w2d, is anyone feeling really "full" in the midsection?  I know babies still way down low, so I have no idea why I am feeling late second trimester discomfort. Thought I'd check in to see of anyone else is?
  • Not a pregnancy symptom but I’m still getting over the Rona. I feel pretty good, slightly congested and slight cough but I really feel normal otherwise. The smell/taste thing with Covid is strange though. People talked about losing their taste which didn’t happen but everything tastes off. I can’t explain it other than things just don’t taste like they should. It’s really hard to enjoy any food right now.
