Re: Weekly Check-in 1/10

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: September 22 / 3 weeks, 4 days

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: Baby is the size of a waterbear. 😂

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Finding out through NIPT around 12 weeks.

Upcoming Appointments: February 7 for an appointment plus ultrasound.

How are you feeling?: Soooo tired. But also incredibly grateful to be pregnant.

Rants/Raves: I signed up for a couple of workshops as New Year’s resolutions to help me organize my life, but I may have bitten off more than I can chew. 😂

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? I always find Vegas so relaxing and fun. There was one time I went with a small group and we rented a cabana by the pool, went to the spa, and got our makeup done before going out to a nice dinner and a show. Heaven.

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: Sesame seed

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Green!

Upcoming Appointments: January 26th for first appointment and ultrasound.

How are you feeling? A little nauseated, but it strangely comes at night, for the most part (and it woke me up around 3 last night). Also still pretty tired and moody. Craving lots of food that is cheese based (grilled cheese, mac and cheese, that kind of thing).

Rants/Raves: Not as a resolution, but I recently decided to be more intentional about how I react to things on social media. Constantly liking things just to not look like a rude person is not who I want to be. I would rather be seen as an honest person, including on social media platforms. This is a major rave for me as I'm so proud of this!

Also, I hate the limbo period between a positive test and the first appointment. 😖

    Questions: Nope

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? Hmmm... probably Florida with my husband. There's just something so happy about that place for me.
    DD 10/2019
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: September 8th - 5+4

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: An Appleseed.

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Currently undecided but leaning towards Team Green.

Upcoming Appointments: Dating ultrasound on January 27th

How are you feeling?: Tired, extremely hungry, and been having some shortness of breath, but it doesn't last long.

Rants/Raves: Also ranting about that period between positive pregnancy test and that first ultrasound. It feels like an eternity!

    Questions: None.

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? Hmm husband and I went to the Keys right after we got engaged and it was so much fun. We rented a house in Marathon and just drove up and down the keys the entire week shopping, eating, and sight-seeing. Didn't even go to Key West...that place is not for me. But it was just so relaxing to not have an agenda!
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 9/14 - 4+5

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: "fits on the side of a key" is the most recent one I saw.

FTM/STM/TTM+: I hate this question.  Technically STM, but I have no living children and never got to take Clementine home, so FTM in some ways.

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Will find out via NIPT at 12 weeks.

Upcoming Appointments: Initial OB on 1/22 (telephone visit), they'll probably order labs then.

How are you feeling?: Finally got a "dark as the control line" test today, so reasonably good.  But also terrified at the moment because there is a MASSIVE COVID outbreak at work right now.  I'm an essential worker and many of my workers are anti-mask/anti-vax despite being under a mandate to do so.

    Rants/Raves: Right wingers suck.

    Questions: None right now.

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken?  Goa, 1999, probably.  Or maybe family tour of Europe, 1996.
    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • @kboydbowman Guess I suck  ;) Hope we can still be friends though!
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 9/9 5w3d

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: apple seed

    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: green

Upcoming Appointments: I have to call and do this still... Oops 3rd child problems?

How are you feeling?: better than I did with my first two which worries me of course, but I just keep telling myself, today you are pregnant.

Rants/Raves: I'm teaching a night class starting tomorrow for the spring semester, and I'm excited I can teach whatever I want and don't have a set of standards I need to cover. I'm excited to see do only the fun parts of math.

Questions: anyone else have a ob place that makes you come in for an appointment for a pee test before making any other type of appointment? I find it such a pain that I don't even want to schedule an appointment right now. I know how to pee on a damn stick just schedule the dating ultrasound and do my appointment.

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever
I'm terrible at picking "favorites" for anything. I think I'll go with a weekend I spent in Paris as a PD for Eftours so I was with a bunch of other teachers, it was free, and I got to explore a city I never dreamed I'd go to.
  • @whitta1015 depends on your feelings about abortion, LGBTQ rights, BLM, masks, and vaccines. :)

@jhysmath you would be amazed (or maybe not) at how many people will hope themselves into believing that an evap line is a positive.  I know it's annoying, but I guarantee you that's what this is about - not wanting to do ultrasounds on people who aren't actually pregnant.
    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • @jhysmath ugh that’s so annoying about having to come in for a pee test first! Especially for a STM/TTM! What a pain
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: Not totally sure yet but I’m estimating 6+3.

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: week 6 = that little heart is beating!

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Team Green

Upcoming Appointments: first ultrasound on Thursday

How are you feeling?: Tired doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel haha. With how high my hcg was and how tired I feel, I am seriously questioning whether I have two babies in my belly! My last bump group pointed out to me that I also had many other factors that contribute to conceiving twins - I’m tall, over 30, STM, and was breastfeeding when conceived. I know it’s probablyyyyyy only one in there but I’m just going to let this thought live for a bit until Thursday haha.

Rants/Raves: rant - my in laws stress me out beyond measure and I know it’s important for me to not be stressed right now. Easier said than done. Rave - my husband is a saint and takes amazing care of our daughter, me, and the house during this period of me feeling tired and crappy.

    Questions: None right now

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken - Right before Covid began, DH and I went on a 3 week trip around Asia (Dec 19/Jan 20). We’re big travelers and this was a “last hurrah” before trying to have kids so we really went all out and I’m glad we did because, little did we know, we’d be stuck in our house for the next two years! When the world returns to “normal” (or feels a little safer for kiddos at least) we definitely plan on traveling internationally with our kids, but this Asia vacation was filled with plenty of things that would have been impossible with babies and we look back often and talk about how glad we were that we did this trip when we did!
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: Sept 5th / 6+0

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: sweet pea and the back of an earring, according to the app ☺️

FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM! Am I by myself here?!

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Team Finding Out (although my parents were team green with me - I don’t have the patience for that!)! My hubby thinks it’s a boy. We just lost his dad and he very strongly feels like this lil bebe is the spirit of his dad.

Upcoming Appointments: 1/26, 8w ultrasound and first OB. First ultrasound EVER! I’m so excited!!!

How are you feeling?: exhausted. I hit a wall every day around 4 and drag the rest of the night. My boobs are sensitive, and I’ve dealt with headaches, minor dizziness and I’ve been so thirsty (like 100+ oz a day - but I drank a lot of water pre-preg too). I also wore jeans today and I don’t know if I gained some holiday weight or if I am BLOATED lol.  Still waiting for nausea and the rest of the stereotypical symptoms to set in.

Rants/Raves: rant/hubby has been traveling for the last week so I’ve had to do everything for myself, and dang it, I just want to lay around while someone takes care of me! Rave/it’s been fun to share this early joy with my mom :) it’s her first grandbaby! She’s nicknamed the baby “peanut”

    Questions: none at the moment.

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? Ohhh tied for Fiji and Paris - we originally planned to elope in Fiji but did it in Paris instead.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: Sept. 5/6+1

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: size of a lentil.

FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM, although this is number 2 for my husband.

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Personally, I’m team green, but the hubby cannot handle any kind of surprise. He gave me birthday gifts a week early last year and insisted we open a Christmas gift each early this year. So, we’ll probably find out to save his sanity lol.

Upcoming Appointments: Tomorrow! They were very specific in saying it’s a “missed period” appt (so just a test?), but followed it up with “we need to schedule after 1/10,” because you won’t see anything before that. So, really hoping for a transvaginal ultrasound where we can confirm a heartbeat 🤞

How are you feeling?: Pretty good as long as I eat frequently. I am crazy tired but not sure how much of that is pregnancy and how much is going back to work at 2 jobs (and a 6:30 alarm) after 2 weeks off.

Rants/Raves: I’m too tired to do chores after work and my husband’s standards of house cleanliness are not the same as mine. So, my house is a wreck (to me, hubby thinks it’s clean 😂).

    Questions: natm

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? Oh man, don’t make me choose! Vietnam was probably the most beautiful place I’ve been. In Guatemala, though, I got to be a baby monkey mom for 2 months and that was just the most amazing experience. So many amazing trips though 😍
  • @kboydbowman that makes sense, I forget about all the crazy "is this a line" people from Facebook birth month clubs. I much prefer the bumps take on, yeah don't post that shit here.

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 6 weeks today!

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: sweet pea

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Pink!

Upcoming Appointments: first ultrasound on 1/31 - the waiting is killing me!

How are you feeling?: very excited but also agitated. For the last week or so, anytime I eat anything, I get horrible stomach pain afterwards. Just a lot of indigestion issues with this pregnancy. Tums is now my best friend. Even just taking my prenatal causes stomach pain. Anyone who can relate?

Rants/Raves: see above lol I am frustrated there’s so many more symptoms than are well known out there, especially as a FTM. Navigating this pregnancy is full of so many unknowns it’s crazy! And I don’t have many friends who have been pregnant that I can ask questions

Questions: see above! Anyone else having issues with indigestion?

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? After graduating college my bestie of 20+ years and I spent a whole week in Iceland! I wish I could go back.
  • @Knottie07802976
I normally don't get indigestion/heartburn, but I do during pregnancy, so I keep a bottle of Tums stashed in various places I might be. :)
    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  • @Knottie07802976 Tums and prescription pantoprazole were my best friends when pregnant with my daughter (I have GERD, which is a reflux disease, and the pros of its use outweighed the cons for me). I was also huge into Gas-X those first few weeks. Be sure not to take too many Tums, but yes, keep them handy! The reflux and indigestion usually sticks around, unfortunately. Try to find your biggest triggers and avoid them, if you can.

That said, you're not really a team yet until you officially find out. 😉 Just to give you a heads up. Unless you already know (I believe some people doing IVF may know ahead of time...?).

The symptom I didn't realize was a possibility that really sucks, is pregnancy carpal tunnel. My last kid, I couldn't feel half of my hand for the last 2 months until 8 weeks postpartum. With my first it was just annoying at night I'd wake up can my haha would be numb. For the last one, not being able to open water bottles because you can't feel your hands is such an awful thing.
  • @jhysmath I forgot all about that! I had to wear braces to bed every night because of how I like to sleep with my hands curled under my face. It was miserable, but the braces definitely helped.

  • @whitta1015 I wouldn’t hate it if everyone on this board adopted this attitude! Haha. I love having a bump group to talk about baby stuff but I don’t see any need to talk politics on here!
  • @theblondebump 100% agree!!! I hope we can all stay civil with each other and do our best to avoid topics that are super controversial in the name of keeping this board from turning into a bunch of drama where you hafta choose sides.
  • @babywiik @theblondebump Agreed!! I'm just trying to birth a baby, not solve world peace.  :D

Upcoming Appointments: I live in a remote town with very different obstetric care to what I'm used to. Once my pregnancy was confirmed my GP gave me the blood test & ultrasound forms for my entire pregnancy. Said to come back at 10 weeks to get my harmony test form (have to know number of babies & due date based on dating scan for the test), then back at 16 weeks and he'll write the letter to be admitted into the midwifery program and then there's no need to come back to the GP. So first ultrasound is on the 24th of Jan as a dating scan, then once I've done that they will book in the rest.
How are you feeling?: Not bad. Not many symptoms except for extreme fatigue, but also insomnia. It's such a weird combination. I'm really over my work and since finding out I was pregnant have just checked out & literally started counting down the days until I go on maternity leave hahaha
Rants/Raves: Rant about the GP I saw to get my first HCG. I asked for a referral to a dietician for weight management during pregnancy (I am obese) as I don't want to put on too much weight. In my last pregnancy I put on 20kg (44lb) and I have not been able to lose any of it, despite an OK diet and frequent exercise. The GP's response was "no, you shouldn't be even considering seeing a dietician during pregnancy and you should expect to put on 20kg". Like WTF! I do not want to be close to 150kg (330lb). I had a complicated first pregnancy and whilst it wasn't weight related, I am at risk of further complications if I don't manage it appropriately. Such a contrast to my GPOB when I was pregnant with my daughter who encouraged weight management as I was still overweight. Very frustrating to say the least. Prior to finding out I was pregnant I signed up to a fitness/nutrition/mid-set coach. If that doesn't help then I will seek out a dietician myself, it's just hard because I live 1700km (1050 miles) from the closest dietician.
    Questions: None at the moment
GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken? In 2014 I spent 4 weeks in Japan learning to ski with a group of about 100 people the same age. It was the biggest party, I made life-long friends and I absolutely fell in love with the snow!
  • @theblondebump I am sure I'm having twins too! My first HCG blood draw was done at 9dpo (day 26 of my cycle) & was 16, then 12dpo (day 29) I did an at home pregnancy test with weeks indicator & the weeks it told me has a threshold HCG 154, which means I doubled every 24ish hours. Will have to see on the 24th what the ultrasound says, but I am having extremely vivid dreams of twins, one of each.

  • @wiseh I'm so sorry you have to deal with a gp like that. A dietician is a great idea and hopefully you'll be able to get into contact with one, even if online only. I need to do the same as I gained 74 pounds in my last pregnancy and I do NOT want to do that again. I've since lost about 50 of it in two years, but I still want to manage my weight going forward. I went from borderline normal/overweight to obese and I hate it for myself.

    Upcoming Appointments: January 18th

    How are you feeling?: Burpy

Rants/Raves: Its been almost 15 years since the last time I was pregnant. I was pretty sure certain things hadn't changed. Still can't drink alcohol? Check. Still can't eat raw fish? Check. But when did cold cuts become a threat?!? Also, when I was younger, I hated coffee. In the past two years however, I have grown to love venti beverages and now I am cut off. **grumble grumble** But apparently tattoos are still an option? Excellent.

Questions: I am older now and I hope my body is still in peak condition to grow a baby. My OB/GYN said more women are waiting to have a kids so having kids at an older age is getting normalized but I am scared something will pop up and make my pregnancy high risk.

GTKY: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken?
Last year I went to Puerto Rico. It was the first vacation I ever took responsibility for, paid for, and planned beginning to end. I am very proud of myself. I look forward to more traveling soon!

@wiseh can you schedule a virtual visit with a dietician?
My last pregnancy left me overweight. I am still breastfeeding so this might be why. For this one, I am going to focus on eating super clean and gaining 20 lbs max.
It's true they don't want you to lose weight during pregnancy no matter your initial BMI. But dieticians and nutritionists are part of the pregnancy team also, especially if you have gestational diabetes. It's not about losing weight but maintaining and eating healthy.

  • @wiseh @rikiteacup agreed on the virtual dietician! I had one last pregnancy because of GD. Before my last pregnancy, I gained some pesky Covid weight so I was definitely starting my pregnancy heavier than I would have liked. I stuck to a really strict diet during my pregnancy because of GD and I only gained 12 lbs. It was gone within like a week of giving birth because it was basically just the baby, placenta, extra blood, etc. but I still have all that Covid weight :(
  • @theblondebump my gd pregnancy I only gained 15 lbs, so I didn't think I'd gain much the second time around. I was 30lbs lighter starting that pregnancy. And I ended up 5 lbs heavier than I was with my first pregnancy. I'm now thinking, that I will always end up weighing the same regardless of where I start.
