Re: Weekly Randoms 1/10

  • Does anyone know if it's possible to watch Prime Video shows from the computer? I either go to bed earlier than DH or fall asleep while we're watching Mr. Robot so he's often a half a season ahead of me because he'll just keep watching them.

I'm WFH for the next 2 weeks so if I can get caught up while doing work that would be super helpful.

  • @inthewoods23 it looks like on my computer if you hit the 3 lines "all" column on the left side it can take you to prime video. Not sure if it needs to be added to a watchlist or not.

My random is that I'm so over this cold. I walk between the middle and high school during my day today and it was 3 degrees, but with wind-chill -13. Yuck.
  • @inthewoods23, yes, you can!  I do it all the time when WFH (or taking a bubble bath).
  • @sjb2215 This cold blows!! I just went out to grab our mail and decided I better put actual winter boots on instead of walking out in my slippers.  I think we have a day in the upper 20s or 30s later this week and I'm like thank god I can finally go get my car washed! Been meaning to do that for at least a week.

  • @inthewoods23 I love a car wash! Especially in the winter when there is so much salt on the roads and my car gets coated. It's so satisfying to have a sparkling clean car. Even if it only lasts a few days. 😆
  • @sjb2215 @inthewoods23 I will never complain about it being cold here again(who am I kidding yes I will). We are having a cold snap with lows in the 20s and highs in the 40s and that is colllllld for us lol

My random for the day is we finally managed to get moved, unpacked the important parts of the house and I finally feel like I can breathe. My brain is the type to obsess over something I have coming up, especially if it’s a big thing, so I can’t focus on anything else until it’s done. I feel so at peace and we actually have a backyard, we’ve lived in apartments for 5 years now I almost forgot what it was like to have a house lol.
  • @bearsandbeets7 I forgot you just moved too! We are still living in chaos over here lol. Today is the first day I have energy (recovering from covid) so hopefully I’ll be able to start getting things in order
  • I was just reading that at 15 weeks, the uterus should be four to five inches below the navel. I measured and I don’t even have five inches below my belly button 🤣 I feel better about how big my bump is now. I was starting to feel weird about it

  • @bearsandbeets7 glad you got moved in!

@melanier26 glad you’re starting to feel better!

@tuxielove93 that seems so low for 15 weeks, especially considering how big the baby is according to all the bump updates! I would have been surprised by that info too. I’m like you, I don’t know that I would have 5 inches!
  • @melanier26 I loathe the living in chaos waiting to move. I hope it goes smoothly for you!
  • Forgot how great it is to feel baby flutters, missed this and didn't even realize  <3<3<3

  • I'm jealous of the NT ultrasounds I'm seeing posted. I called my doctor's office on Monday to ask to schedule a NT ultrasound and the nurse told me since I got the NIPT that I don't need one. My NIPT results came back clear so it would be redundant. Now I'm sad I don't get to see baby until 20 weeks. I see the doctor on Thursday and I'm gonna see if I can talk her into a growth scan just for peace of mind.
  • @tuxielove93 This is my body’s 4th time doing this so it knows what is happening. My uterus definitely moved up out of my pelvis much earlier than TB said it would. I’m 12 weeks and it’s probably 4 inches below my belly button
  • @stardustskies I wanna say if you had done the NT scan first they'd maybe entertain the NIPT if the NT scan results were indicating a problem since the blood test (I'm assuming) is more accurate. I had the luxury of weekly growth scans for the reproductive immunologist I was seeing for up to 12 weeks and now that it's been a few weeks I'm bumming over here that my frame has a 2 week old photo lol. But I really shouldn't complain about that!

  • @stardustskies I’m sorry your doctor wont let you do the NT scan. They really should be allowed to everyone, even if you’re getting the NIPT too. I luckily found an OB that was happy to do both (I had a fight with my first OB who initially refused it and turned very condescending). My new OB agrees that they are both beneficial in different ways. But she did make the comment that she has to fight with the ultrasound techs more and more these days. If it’s something you really want then I would push for it. But if you would be happy with just a growth scan then maybe that could be a good compromise.

  • I’m struggling to love my body and this process right now and would love some advice. I’m 12.5 weeks and I can’t tell if I’m bloated, just gained weight in my stomach, or am starting to show. First time mom here!  My stomach isn’t hard like they say, but it’s really messing with my mind and making me super uncomfortable.  I know I deff get more bloated in late afternoon/evening but everyone is telling me you don’t start showing until 18/20 weeks as a first timer and I’m all in my head right now.

Any advice on how to love your body would be much appreciated because I’m in a very weird in between of my mind and old behaviors telling me I need to lose weight now and I’ve done something  wrong
  • @bolson16 I definitely remember it being a really awkward stage from 12 - 17 weeks when I had a bump, but I felt like to everyone else it just looked like a tummy. I felt better if I just wore looser fitting clothing but once I had a legitimate bump I definitely started with the tighter fitting maternity clothes to show it off! So I guess what I’m saying is even if you need to buy a few new things, wear clothing right now that makes you feel comfortable and confident, whether it’s maternity or regular clothes or a mix of both!
  • @bolson16 I agree with starting to wear maternity clothes. I feel like (at least the above belly pants) they help to shape your bump and your regular clothes can make you look like you’ve just put some weight on.  Plus, with the change in your bloat from morning to night, I think you’ll be more comfortable too. Hang in there! When I feel blah sometimes, I try to think about the amazing things my body is doing to help create this little person and the amazing things it will do afterwards. Sometimes it’s easier than others but it does help. ❤️
  • @bolson16 You’ve already gotten some great advice about clothes. I’d also recommend watching some of the videos that show recreations of a baby growing in utero. Our bodies are doing amazing things right now!
  • @bolson16 I'm only 12 weeks and have definitely put on some weight. I understand why you're feeling the way you are but as everyone else said, you're growing a baby! Your body will change, but that's ok!
  • @bolson16 I remember well before getting pregnant I thought I would hate this weird "is it a bump or bloat" period. I actually thought I wouldn't really show until much later due to having a tilted uterus but sometime around 12 weeks I was noticing some roundedness in the belly area (plus an ultrasound indicated it was no longer tilted at that point so baby was more forward). This baby is over 4 years in the making so any resemblance of a bump fills me with so much joy because that's the baby we've worked so hard for starting to make an appearance! I don't think my stomach is very firm either but I do have a bit of fat in the region providing some cushion.

Like everyone else has said, your body is doing something amazing right now and that's worth celebrating!

  • @bolson16 I’m having some body image issues right now too. I’m only just 12w tomorrow so I know I shouldn’t be showing already, and yet I look like I’m 6 months pregnant and feel really fat. Even my flowy pregnancy shirts from last time are tight already. It doesn’t help that I started this pregnancy off being 20lbs heavier than I was last time. I’m sure that has a lot to do with it. I’m just hoping I “pop” sooner rather than later so that I can embrace the bump. It’ll help once we start telling everyone too. Trying to hide it is not helping.

  • @bolson16 I'm 13 weeks and definitely showing! Especially in a t-shirt. In a thick sweater it just looks like I put on weight. But I feel more comfortable since last week, when I told my coworkers. So now I don't have to think about them wondering. Though i don't think people actually look at others that closely!! I am excited for when the bump is bigger and its more obvious!

  • We’ve been craving bbq potato chips all day so when DH offered to pick up dinner on his way home I ordered from a local sub shop with chips as my side. AND THEY FORGOT THEM. I cried. Luckily they had awesome pickles with their subs that almost made up for it but damn I want those chips.

I accidentally typed “we’ve been craving…” but I figured it was appropriate and left it 🙃
  • @melanier26 the “we’ve” made me chuckle. Whenever I had weird cravings with the last 2 kids I’d just tell DH “hey, I’m just doing what the parasite demands!” Lol

Ughhhh why do people like your FIL’s wife think these kind of comments are ever appropriate?!?! My mom does stuff like this too. 🤦‍♀️

    edited for clarity
  • @stardustskies first of all making comments about women’s bodies (prego or not) is highly inappropriate and I’m sorry you had to experience this. I know how painful words can be, my mom has continuously made comments about her “6pack” she had before me and how she didn’t show til week 20 … and how she’s never seen me eat so much bread in her life. (Mind you, all I could keep down over the Christmas holiday at my moms was GF pretzels and a very specific GF toast 🙄).

Anyway, I do my best to take these comments and situations as “it’s their own shit coming to the surface” but it still hurts none the less. I believe @tuxielove93 had some beautiful words about our bodies a little higher up on this thread. Sending love to you, your beautiful body, and baby!!!
