@wisewitch222 Elf might still be on HBO max or starz on demand if you have either of those, for next time! My 3yo wanted to watch Cars for the 4”5th time this week today and cried until I just put it on. Ugh. I hate giving in but sometimes it’s just easier.
RE: movies on repeat. My daughter loves the movie Encanto and I think it’s super cute. It keeps her in one place long enough for me to wash and blow dry my hair so +1 to giving the toddlers movies for peace.
@paytonpedro No HBO Max or Starz add-on to Prime. We just had to pay. But I told him it was expiring tomorrow and we'll have to be done Christmas movies after the weekend so at least he has a heads up.
Last year he made us watch Christmas shows (especially Elf Pets) through January. Then in February we showed him Frozen because it had snow and reindeer but wasn't Christmas, and he became obsessed with that. His third birthday at the end of March was Frozen themed. He still loves Elsa and all the songs so maybe we'll revisit those movies.
@and_peggy I'm so sorry your husband has COVID. Hopefully you can avoid getting it. Today is the first day since Christmas that I can actually say I'm starting to feel better. I even ate a full meal! I was shocked!
@starkette that's great about the stander! Thanks for sharing about your beautiful family ❤️
+1 for Emily Oster (expecting better & crib sheet) to the question someone asked in the "ask a stm+" thread (I can't remember who, sorry!) Her stuff really helped me with my FTM fears and nerves. It's also nice because you can just read the chapter(s) that are relevant for you in the moment then put it down for a while - if reading a whole book feels out of reach which I totally get. She also has a newsletter substance thing you can subscribe to. She talks about all sorts of things there, including how to make sense of whatever the latest covid thing is. Recommend!
My random is my son (18 mo next week) finally walked independently today! I almost cried ❤️❤️
My random: It was my daughter’s 6th birthday party today, the first one with friends and invitations. We planned it and sent invitations to 12 kids before the latest COVID surge, and the venue required masks, so we went ahead with the party today. 3 kids showed up. Not a single kid from her kindergarten class came, and no one RSVP’d to let us know. We made the best of it, and I know she had a good time, but I was so sad for her, she really wanted school friends there, and I know she was a little disappointed. This mom stuff breaks your heart some days.
I wasn't feeling too nauseous today but soo hungry. We had takeout for dinner and I overdid it. Now I feel like I'm 3rd trimester and cannot get comfortable 😅
@maggiemadeit people not rsvp-ing is one of my biggest pet peeves. Especially with the multiple forms of communication we have now. It takes 5 seconds to send a text. My son turns 6 in the end of February and keeps asking me about a birthday party. As much as I’d love to invite friends, it’s the whole class or no one per school rules. Probably as long as the invitations were handed out at school. I’m thinking we’ll just do a family party.
I've been a bit MIA this weekend (and now have so many posts to catch up on lol). Trying to finish up my master's thesis, which took a break for two kids and I am determined to finish it before #3 makes an appearance! I am really close now though! Just a couple of small things left to do, then I can ask to defend.
Thanks @maggiemadeit! It's designing a cheap implantable drug delivery system for research (I won't go into detail for the sake of the squeamish). I'm really close now, like have to make one more figure and then put them all into my document (that will take a long time just because I know it will hugely slow down my word processor, I've had them in PowerPoint until now). And then hope my advisor considers it enough and signs off on it!
@geshem that sounds so cool although I appreciate the vagueness (hi, I’m Queen Squeamish, even before pregnancy my own shed hair could trigger a sesh with my friendly neighborhood toilet). Congrats on being so close! I know that’s a ton of work!
@maggiemadeit I’m sorry your DD’s birthday party didn’t go as planned, and it sucks that nobody rsvped! I’m glad she still had fun though.
@and_peggy oh nooooooooo! Hoping everyone else (including you!) dodges it.
My weekly random is that it’s Sunday and I’m just now getting to reply / start participating. I’ve been lurking since my BFP on 12/23, but it’s taken me this long to feel comfortable posting and now I feel like a spammer going into all these established discussions. Me: Here’s to a more active week next week!
@mangoandguava don’t worry about spamming. We appreciate the participation and understand people will stop lurking and start replying whenever is best for them. Welcome!
Well all 6 of us all tested positive for Covid. 4 of us are pretty miserable. 1 kid starting to show symptoms. And 1 kid asymptomatic.
In addition to being disheartened by how hard we tried (masked, vaccines, don’t go places), I’m also so disappointed because this was the ONE week I was looking forward to. We have had Hamilton tickets for months and it’s this Tuesday. (Only hope now is the show gets postponed - this weekend’s shows were). I was set to volunteer for something in my daughters class this week. It’s just all super frustrating. Another week of school to be missed. Just ugh.
@and_peggy I am so sorry! I figured that's where you got your name from, too. I hope you all feel better soon. What a bummer! I'm praying your show is postponed.
@and_peggy OH NO! Can’t they reissue tickets for a later date for you? It seems like flexibility has been the game everywhere for a while now. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for postponement for you if they can’t move your date.
@bridgiebee82 thanks. Yes, that’s where it’s from. Big fan. We saw it a few years ago and it was amazing.
@mangoandguava it’s my ILs season tickets so im not sure how it all works. But there’s a good possibility it’ll get postponed. I selfishly hope that happens.
@paytonpedro thank you. I’m actually shocked at how bad it’s been.
@geshem You can do it as well! I’m so thrilled this is my last semester but I’ve lost all motivation! Your research sounds fascinating. My masters is in Reading to become a Reading Specalist in schools. I’m doing mine on Response to Intervention Fidelity and yours sounds way more intriguing than mine. Ha! I hope it goes well!
@and_peggy I’m so sorry to hear you’re all positive and it’s a big bummer about your Hamilton tickets. I’m a big Hamilfan as well, and couldn’t imagine that disappointment. Fingers crossed they either give replacements, postpone, or you get your money back. I hope your family feels better soon. It’s no joke.
@and_peggy ooooooh no that sounds awful. Hope it's mild and everyone feels better soon!
Finally put away the Christmas stuff today! It was meant to be a cleaning day and we made a very small dent in the mess. Oh well, it's better than nothing, right?
@and_peggy oh no! I was hoping you'd manage to avoid getting sick too. I hope you all feel better soon. Also, that really sucks about your Hamilton tickets. We've got tickets to see the show in February - we absolutely love it too. I'm going to keep my FX for you that the show is postponed.
@starkette our tree, garland on the banister and stockings are still up. only downside of going on vacation first week of jan. zero motivation right now to get it put away.

@mehugg That’s so exciting! Big kid stuff!

@brittanynmorris you can do it! And welcome
@and_peggy I'm so sorry your husband caught covid, I hope you and your kids stay negative!
