@cas060 loosing weight in the first tri is totally normal and usually totally fine. With my second I lost weight in the first tri and didn’t get back up to my starting weight until 24 weeks. I still managed to gain 30lbs (I had extra fluid). Don’t even stress about it, you’ll have plenty of time to make up for it! Fwiw, I’m down 4lbs as of last week but haven’t weighed myself yet today (I weigh myself weekly).
@jasmindaniella I flew to Europe and back at 15/16 weeks pregnant, so past the peak of morning sickness. It’s a trip I used to do a few times a year for work, but when I did it pregnant I had a really hard time adjusting to the time difference both ways. I was awake and tired at all the wrong times. I felt like it took a week to recover instead of a day.
Thanks for the reassurance @paytonpedro! I remember with my first not gaining during first tri because of the nausea and aversions but didnt have the loss.
I'm wondering if I should talk to the dr. I have liquid bowels I cannot get rid of for the life of me, not excessive but once or twice a day. I'm assuming it's hormone related but it really sucks that what I do manage to eat does not digest properly 🥴. Part of me is like, maybe its covid.. but im not eligible to get tested anyway (or maybe I am bc of pregnancy hmmm).
Cedar is crazy high here and it’s giving me the WORST sinus headaches. I had one on Monday and then have another one today that is even worse. My whole face hurts. I’m trying not to take too much medication but I’ve taken a few Tylenol and it doesn’t even touch it. Advil Cold & Sinus is my go-to and I miss it so much. My doctor also doesn’t want me to use Flonase until the second tri and that’s my other ride or die this time of year 😭 I see a lot of people recommending caffeine but unfortunately that makes my anxiety skyrocket and it’s already bad enough so I’d like to avoid that if possible. I have an appt with my OB tomorrow so will ask her what else I can do.
@cas060 have you been trying a bland diet and lots of water? I would call just to be safe, you are probably loosing a lot of fluids. Would they be able to write you an rx for a covid test?
Has anyone felt like sciatica pain? (Sudden, sharp shooting pain that starts on lower back/bum) I was reading about it must most stuff refers to 3 trimester...I'm about to be 8 weeks only. I feel it when I bent down or try to get back up; not always, just random suddent pain. I've never experienced this before. Could it be the growing uterus putting pressure on the nerve?
@maggiemadeit thank you for your response! That’s definitely reassuring. It’s a normal trip for me too, and this time it’s definitely knocked me out more than usual. I’ll just try to take it easy for a few more days.
@bree2022 I have herniated discs and get sciatica very often (but not recently, knock on wood). Could you have done anything to injure yourself? Sometimes something as simple as bending the wrong way can cause it. My best guess would be, relaxin hormone. It helps relax the ligaments and joints in your pelvis but can also make other joints feel unstable and can cause back pain. It starts to be produced early in the 1st tri. I would mention it to your dr but it’s not an emergency. I found chiropractic care really helped and, when my back was really bad in my first pregnancy, I saw a chiropractor weekly until around 35 weeks.
Not eligible for a covid test.. I've been eating bland but removed 2 items I was eating and didn't wake up at 4am with the runs so hopefully it was one of those two things.. peach cups and kraft pb... go figure 🤣. Thinking it was the pb as I usually don't eat that. Fingers crossed.
I got some cliff bars and Gatorade today.. Gatorade might have been a mistake but I already woofed 2 bars down 🤐
Y’all I just feel like hot garbage. I’m down a few pounds bc I can’t eat, then I feel nauseated 🤢 then I don’t want to eat. Everything smells horrible, even my favorite food. And the best part of not eating much, I have no energy. Blah. I feel like hiding under a rock until 2nd trimester.
@wigglyicecream I'm so sorry you're feeling awful. I'm right there with you - this nausea and aversion business is THE WORST. I'm thinking this pregnancy will be my last because I cannot fathom dealing with this nausea phase again. Hang in there!!! Hoping 1st tri flies by!
@cas060 I’m confused, what makes you ineligible for a Covid test?

Thanks @malloryfrommn I feel like a lot of us are on the struggle bus with the nausea and aversions. My pregnancy with my daughter tricked me bc I had almost no nausea that I remember and minimal aversions.
@wigglyicecream oh wow! I envy women who don't go through the awful nausea during first tri. It's crazy how different symptoms can be pregnancy to pregnancy. I'm sorry this is such a different experience. YOU GOT THIS!
@coco2787, I'm in Canada.. theyre being really strict about eligibility in my province because they're at capacity/limited resources. My mil who lives with us decided to tell me this afternoon before dinner shes got a cold... but not covid, just a cold... uhhh.. fml. Anyway shes not eligible either so now we just assume its covid and isolate. Blahhhh. It'd be nice to know.
Ooh gotcha, well that’s frustrating @cas060 It’s hard to find rapid tests around here but anyone can still get a PCR

@paytonpedro thank you for your response! The relaxing hormone and your explanation would make sense! I have my first prenatal on Monday I will be sure to bring it up. In the meantime I'm including some back strengthening exercises on my workout to try to help the pain.
Well i officially have covid... I haven't had a fever which I'm grateful for but haven't felt very good this week. I wasn't scheduled for a booster until February... I'm just worried about baby.
@hola_knotties Oh no! I hope you feel better soon! Definitely call your doctor so they can take care of baby, but I just read some super encouraging news that said a new study showed only .05% of fully vaccinated people go to the hospital with severe covid, and the study did not distinguish between boosted people.
@hola_knotties Oh no! I hope your OB can give you some reassurance, or treatment if necessary. Not having a fever seems like a good sign. Hope you feel better soon!
Welp I’m also on the Covid train. After my husband tested positive yesterday, I started feeling like crap. No fever. Mostly just body aches, sore throat, headache. Not any worse than that respiratory infection I had a few weeks ago that lasted forever.
Seriously so sick of being SO SICK. It's been 4 weeks of nonstop, constant nausea and I'm throwing up every day. Nothing at all works except complaining about it but I don't want to complain to family because I don't want to make them feel bad and there's nothing they can do. But my God this just sucks. I haven't felt like a human being in so long and I'm starting to get nervous maybe there's more than one in there because I didn't have it this bad with either of my older kids. Can't put much focus on anything because I'm always sick. 10 weeks now and not feeling better at all... I'm ready for it to stop! The surplus of saliva makes it so much worse, too. Constantly having to spit, it's disgusting. Coming on here mainly to vent, just feeling totally awful. If anyone on here is in the same boat, you're not alone, I feel your pain!!
@and_peggy oh no!! I hope it passes quickly and doesn’t get any worse!
@rach488 my nausea might finally be letting up a little at 9+2, but the food aversions are still off the charts. Have you discussed this with your doctor? I would consider it and have them rule out HG. Try not to worry about multiples at this point. Every pregnancy is different and symptoms don’t usually indicate multiples or really anything else except that you’re pregnant. Hopefully it starts to ease up for you here soon!!
I can't get warm these past couple weeks, even though the heat in our house is always where we have it and no one else in my family is cold. Is this a symptom?
@wisewitch222 for me, yes! At least first tri (deffffinitely not third tri 😅) I usually run warm but first tri last time and this time I'm suddenly one of those always cold girls. No idea why.
A switch flipped in me towards the end of this week. Goodbye nausea, hello absolute ravenous hunger. Really curious to see how I weigh in at my OB appointment this week 😬
@wigglyicecream I hope your nausea gets better asap. I’ve noticed a slight improvement when I take B vitamins (B6 for nausea and B12 for energy,) but still random dry heaves. I’m doing my best to hunker down as well. I hope this part flies by so that eating sounds yummier soon. I’m at the point where I keep finding a new thing I can’t look at/smell, so I don’t think it has peaked yet. Sipping pomegranate, cranberry, or tart cherry juice helps me have a better taste in my mouth and those all have benefits for baby development or anti UTI as a plus. I know things that “help” drastically vary from one to the next. Hang in there!
@wisewitch222 I don’t know if it’s a symptom either. Here in Alaska there was recently a windstorm with 80 mph gusts and the power was on and off. Our heat struggled to get back up to the 72-75 we keep it at, so with the cooler nights, I plugged in a heating pad and kept it at my feet. It felt soooo nice! Just remember, you don’t want to have it by your midsection, and you can’t have your body temperature rise above normal! Hope this helps!
@wisewitch222 In my previous pregnancies I have run super hot, but with this one I’m freezing. It’s always so weird to me that it’s different every time!
Hah! My husband brought this big ridiculous furry blanket out of the attic I forgot we owned and that warmed me right up. Funny thing is, the last winter we had the blanket out was the last time I was pregnant. I must have been cold then, too!
New theory: Katy Perry was singing about pregnancy. It’s hot, then it’s cold. It’s yes, then it’s no (to food). One minute it’s 500* and the next it’s -500*. And I was SO EXCITED for my Wendy’s hamburger and frosty last night. The frosty was good until I ran out of fries, but the burger…. Y’all. It was the worst thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. I want to be sick just thinking about it.
I also just kind of … want to be sick. Like. All the time.
Also? I wake up like four times every night just to pee. I’ve tried drinking less late in the day, and then I wake up to drink water and THEN pee. I already don’t sleep well (nOT SurE wHy, we only have two humans, a 30lb dog, and two 12-ish-lb kittens in a queen bed together 🥴) and coffee is a complete nonstarter. I see lots of naps in my future.
Most of the time nothing sounds good. I’m eating to help the nausea, but I don’t want to eat because of the same. It seems worse every few days. Today has been the worst yet. Poor hubby felt bad. He made coffee, not thinking about how strong the smell is, and then had to clear out the smell while I laid in bed. Opening the fridge made me feel the urge to hurl. I can safely say the smells are getting to me now.
