Re: Weekly check in- 1/3

  • Sorry you all, I suck at GTKY questions but figured I’d get us started this week. Sorry if it has been asked before 😆

    Est. Due Date / Weeks + Days: 5/19 20+5

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Upcoming Appointments: maybe tomorrow for the AS, waiting to get my covid test results back

How are you feeling?: overall fine. Still not sleeping great but feeling baby moving a ton, which I love.

Rants/Raves: just covid haha. Really nothing else. It also decided to finally be cold outside which is annoying on the week we are stuck at home with DD, it would be nice to go for a non-freezing walk!

    Questions: nope

GTKY: in the US- Montana. DH and I took a vacation to Flathead Lake / Glacier NP and it was the most relaxed I’ve ever felt. Outside the Us- DH and I went to Italy while we were dating and loved it. We spent about a week in Rome and did a day trip to Florence, and then we went for about a week to Sorrento and did day trips to Positano and Capri. It’s absurdly pretty down there.

    FTM/STM/TTM+: stm

Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan next wk (finally!) the ever exciting GTT end of Jan, which thankfully DH can attend, so I have someone to carry my ass down to the lab 😂

How are you feeling?: Actually pretty good! Finally coming off my cold, might get some exercise in!

Rants/Raves: rant? Plea? Someone please come redo our office into DD's room so I don't have to. And also magically find room in our house for my desk. Thanks. 😩

    Questions: nope

GTKY: What’s your favorite place you’ve ever been?  I'm with @b_1029, anywhere on/near the Amalfi Coast in Italy! So beautiful. Pompeii is pretty neat as well, so much history there.
  • @b_1029 thanks for starting it! I thought of putting one up this week too but chickened out because I couldn’t think of a good GTKY question. 😂

    Est. Due Date / Weeks + Days: May 28th, 19 wks & 3 days

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Upcoming Appointments: check-up on Thursday, AS on the 18th

How are you feeling?: Feeling good but still dealing with dizziness. I just don’t have the patience for it and am hating that I probably have to slow down a bit.

Rants/Raves: Just super excited about moving at the end of the month 😁 Also, baby is really kicking in there this past week. I fear for the abuse my bladder and/or ribs are going to take once he/she is bigger.

    Questions:

GTKY: What’s your favorite place you’ve ever been?

This is going to sound cheesy and lame, but I had always wanted to go to Medieval Times in Toronto and had never been. About 4 years ago, DH decided to surprise me with dinner there for my birthday. He didn’t tell me where we were going and I was so shocked when I realized where we were. You guys, I didn’t even cry at our wedding but I could not stop crying that night when we pulled in the parking lot and I saw the sign. 😂😂 It was amazing.

  • Est. Due Date / Weeks + Days: 5/9 - 22w1d

    FTM/STM/TTM+: 4th/5th

Upcoming Appointments: 1/11 OB, 1/27 growth scan

How are you feeling?: Pretty ok. My body thinks it's in the 3rd tri already so I'm pretty sore but otherwise doing ok. I'm starting to get pretty panicky about what life will look like with 5 kids/twins.

Rants/Raves: Rant: 2 of my kids are sick after seeing family for Christmas. Just viral cold stuff that goes around every winter but they are cranky af.
Rave: My mom & sister are going to throw me a virtual shower so I get to make a registry! I haven't done it since my first so I'm excited but also overwhelmed bc what do I need for twins?

  • Est. Due Date / Weeks + Days: 20 weeks. Halfway there!!

    FTM/STM/TTM+: second

    Upcoming Appointments: just had AS!

How are you feeling?: so so so tired. But I have a cold and I just increased some medication that causes a bit of insomnia, so I think that’s the problem. I had tons of energy before Christmas and now I have to nap every morning or else I’ll perish. But I think it’s just due to poor nighttime sleep.

Rants/Raves: so over being sick. I think I HAVENT had a cold for maybe 4 weeks of this pregnancy???

    Questions:

GTKY: What’s your favorite place you’ve ever been?
Vegas 😍 it was a moms trip, so that was part of the fun. No kids, no spouses, just pretending we were 21 again. The weather was perfect, you can bring your drink anywhere, there’s music playing on the street and shows at night… amazing.

    Upcoming Appointments:Jan 25

How are you feeling?:I feel like I got a belly overnight. I am also super tired; the second trimester energy has not kicked in yet.

Rants/Raves: I was looking at classes for my DD to take this spring/summer through are park district and there are only 3 that she qualifies for (because her age). Everything seems like you have to be at least 4 or 5 to participate in. On the bright side it has been a productive year so far and have gotten together her yearly photo book (90% complete) and started planning for her birthday.

Questions: have any of your children taken swim classes (there’s one class that she is old enough for)? Did they like it/good age to take it?

GTKY: What’s your favorite place you’ve ever been? Right now with all this cold weather, I can’t stop thinking bout when I went to Hawaii.
  • @addsprinkles521 my oldest didn’t start until she was 5 last spring due to covid  :s she was supposed to start the spring before with the preK class she was in when covid shut everything down. To be very honest 5 was too old to be just starting. She was in a 3-5 beginner class and was the oldest and very obviously the only one who had never had lessons before. I had her do 3 sessions back to back last spring and summer and she still isn’t where a lot of the others her age are, but getting better.
Both girls are actually starting a session next week! Fall was too much of a cluster with the late bus situation so we missed a couple that j had wanted to do.  This will be my 3 (actually 3.5) yo’s first session and I’m very curious how she’ll do. She doesn’t have any real experience taking instruction from other adults bc she’s always home with me. I can update you once she gets started!
  • Est. Due Date / Weeks + Days: 5/4, 23w

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Upcoming Appointments: Tomorrow for a normal midwife appt

How are you feeling?: My headaches are gone, thank god! I've just been a bit congested in the morning when I wake up and then I get exhausted at 2 pm every day. Luckily the energy picks up around dinner time.

Rants/Raves: Rant: Since Lowes and the countertop people can't figure out how to speak to one another we still don't have a solution to our countertops, which is delaying us moving into our reno home. I just want to get in there and start getting LO's room together 😭

    Questions: None!

GTKY: What’s your favorite place you’ve ever been? DH and I took a trip to Amsterdam and Paris a couple of years ago and it was amazing! So many beautiful things to see and amazing food to eat.
  • @addsprinkles521 my niece did infant swim lessons, infant swim survival is really big here. We weren't able to do them with DD for a variety of reasons sooo...now she's 3 and never had any survival training so we're trying to get her signed up for that. I live in the south so obviously pools are everywhere, so I definitely want her to know water survival skills at a minimum.
  • Est. Due Date / Weeks + Days: 22 weeks/ May 10

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Upcoming Appointments: Finish my AS 1/17

How are you feeling?: test positive for COVID and had the stomach virus, now that the stomach virus part is over just weak with a bad cough

Rants/Raves: Caught COVID, and now I have to take a baby aspirin everyday for the remainder of my pregnancy. Just makes me nervous being a FTM, really want to have a healthy baby boy!

Questions: Anyone else get covid later in their pregnancy? Be been told they’ll want to induce me due to higher risk of blood clots and I really do not want to be induced.

GTKY: What’s your favorite place you’ve ever been? Disney World! I went for the first time on my honeymoon & we had a blast!

@addsprinkles521 I think the earlier to start lessons the better. That being said, DD almost drowned in the middle of a swimming lesson when she was 4. We started her with swimming lessons when she was almost 2, and truly thought it was a good life skill for her to have. I’m just very glad that I was close enough to the pool to realize what was happening that day. Long story short, none of the kids were wearing life jackets when she lost her footing and fell into the water right behind the instructor and out of her line of sight. The instructor didn’t see her, and DD did not know how to swim up. She froze under the water and was taking water in. When I realized she wasn’t coming back up and was in fact drowning, I ran as fast as I could to get the instructor’s attention and pulled her out of the water myself. It was so traumatizing for us both, we never went back. Months later I was telling the story to someone who happened to be a paramedic, and they said she probably had about 8 more seconds before we would have been doing CPR.

So, not to scare you, but I learned that day that drowning is silent. And just make sure you are somewhere to keep an eye on her. Never in a million years did I think such a thing would happen to us, especially in a swimming class. It still scares me to this day that if I had’ve gone to the bathroom or had been looking at my phone in those moments, she might have drowned.
  • @sydneyannette53 oh my gosh, that is very scary to have covid while pregnant. I hope the last of your symptoms from it go away soon. ❤️
  • @sydneyannette53, I'm so sorry you have COVID! I hope your symptoms are mild from here on out. I will say, while I haven't had covid while pregnant, I was induced with DS. I was so scared and did not want to be induced. However, everything went as smoothly as I could have ever imagined a birth would go. If my doctor recommended I be induced this time, I would have no problem with it because it was so uneventful.
  • @sydneyannette53 Hopefully you're on the mend! As far as the baby aspirin goes, that shouldn't be a worry. I was on it my entire first pregnancy and I'm on a double dose this pregnancy (twins). I have a blood clotting gene that makes me more susceptible to clots and then adding on twins makes the risk higher too.

As far as induction goes, I've been induced twice because of the risk of clots. Both times it went fine and ended up with two beautiful healthy babies! Hang in there!

  • @sydneyannette53 I’ve not heard anywhere that they’d have to be induced before their due date bc they have covid at this point? The only time I’ve heard anything similar would be if they had covid at like 37 weeks and the risk of staying pregnant while having active covid outweighed baby being born a couple weeks early… Unless you have any genetic predisposition to clotting or other health issues. But the baby aspirin is recommended often both in covid patients as well as in pregnancy and especially for those who have done any IF treatment so I’m not surprised to hear that and I don’t think that’s abnormal at all! Hope you’ll be feeling better soon!!
  • @sydneyannette53 feel better!! Hope your symptoms stay mild!!
    @fireflyz_56 omg that’s terrifying 😩

  • thank you all for your reassuring words! We have a couple L&D nurses in the family and they kept telling me to prepare for an induction they may want to induce before 39 weeks since I’ve been COVID positive, but now I see maybe they are jumping the gun and I’m listening to nonsense and freaking myself out lol. I do feel much better, just a lingering cough but nothing serious! This strand was easier than the first time we got COVID in 2020.
