Re: Weekly Check In 12/6

  • @jenis_fan_for_life Thank you for starting this! I've been struggling with GTKY questions for weeks now 😅

    EDD / Weeks + Days: March 21 (RCS between the 13th and 15th) / 25+0

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: Aaaah...haven't checked yet. I'm going to make one up and say dancing Poopsie unicorn...since I felt the kicking allllll night last night.

    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Blue 💙

Upcoming Appointments: OB on the 14th, GP on the 22nd

How are you feeling?: Same old same old. I choked on some water last night and had glasses of winning a Darwin award for death by improper water consumption:/ Still stressed but the increased movement last night is helping!

Rants/Raves: Passed the GTT (or at least I think so based on the lab reports I saw). Also DD2 hasn't nursed in 2 days...so I'm hoping she self weans completely before baby gets here! I think my milk dried up...likely because my nursing aversion got so bad that I was limiting her nursing sessions anyways.

    Questions: Not today:)

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie?

I actually hate going to the movies. I much prefer to watch at home. Before kids I allllways fell asleep during movies. DD1 always loved movies from the time she was little (I used to take her to a lot of stage performances and so the movie theater was easy for her from a young age) but DD2 HATES movies...or really any sort of television or videos that aren't music videos, so we haven't really watched anything together (me and the girls) for a long time. I'm not a big eater during movies either...probably mostly because they make me fall asleep:) But I do get tye home movie premiers from time to time and DD1 watches with my parents. I honestly can't remember the last movie I watched all the way through though!

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Pink

Upcoming Appointments: December 9(My birthday) for regular OB and Gestational Diabetes screening, December 13 at MFM for growth scan.

How are you feeling?: So exhausted and overwhelmed. I hate feeling this way. I keep crying today. I feel unsupported irl, and I’m not trying to target anyone in particular.

Rants/Raves: I just want to feel like things are going to be good. I know it will be challenging with two kiddos, some who I’ve expressed being overwhelmed to say “It won’t get any better/easier with two.” Or “You should have thought about that before getting pregnant again.” and that’s terrifying when I feel like I’m barely holding it together now. Like, am I not supposed to ever be stressed or ever express that I’m tired?

Moms of two or more, tell me it gets less overwhelming as you adjust. Tell me you find your rhythm, hit your stride?

    I want to believe so.

    Questions: IDK

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie?

Oh man, usually at home, but I haven’t watched a movie in over a year, maybe a bit longer. I haven’t had the energy to invest emotionally or otherwise since I had my son especially.

I think I watched Frozen 2 the week before he was born?

Usually if I want to relax and veg out I just play a game like Animal Crossing or Pokémon where it’s relatively low stakes.

Sometimes I watch YouTube, but yeah, I’m boring.

Also maybe it was because I grew up low income/ family occasionally going to movies on matinee prices, never full price, but I was never allowed movie snacks because they cost too much, so I tend not to snack during a movie. If I do, it’s so rare I don’t know if I could claim a preference. I’m a heathen who detests the taste/texture of popcorn, though.

  • @faithmovesmountains If it helps I actually found 2 to be easier than 1. They entertain eachother, play together, and I have way more time to myself and to get things done than when I had 1. My mom constantly makes comments like "you're the one who wanted kids" and "good luck with 3" any time I comment about how sick I am or that something hurts etc but I just ignore her. With SO in a different city I'm doing it all on my own anyways so I honestly don't care what anyone else says or thinks. I just block it out. I'm sorry you're feeling unsupported and stressed...but I will say, they get older way faster than we think and pretty soon you'll have a hard time remembering the baby days anyways. Even though it feels like forever when we're in it, childhood flies by and things will calm down significantly ❤❤❤
  • @Panaceia i sleep during movies too! I am much more of a tv girl. Episodes less than one hour, please, or i'm done for!

@faithmovesmountains I'm so sorry you're not feeling supported and struggling. I think it's normal to have some of these feelings no matter how many kids you have. I only have 1, and i know there will be challenges with another one, but there are challenges no matter how many kids you have! There are days where i'm on the verge of tears or crying "for no reason" and it just kind of compounds if you don't have that support at home. I'm thinking of you <3

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 25+1! 3/20

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: ? cauliflower i guess. I'm over these weird comparisons lol

    FTM/STM/TTM+: stm

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: green! Yesterday DD said it was a boy though.

Upcoming Appointments: nothing till the week after christmas for an US placenta check and an OB appt.

How are you feeling?: ok. Really focusing on DD (see below) so the inside baby is kind of just hanging out. I'm at the part where it's hard to bend over and get up off the floor, which annoys me.

Rants/Raves: today is DD's 3rd bday! She's home with my mom because she's still not feeling 100%. We were in the ED with her over the weekend because of her recurrent unexplained fevers and still don't really have any answers. Her urine sample was contaminated when DH tried to do it ("i tried my best, but i don't work with that equipment! It's easier for boys!") so we did another one at home yesterday. I'm hoping it was clean and they call me and tell me it's a UTI. Just want to get things figured out and get my girl better.

Questions: not that i can think of right now

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie?

Home, I'm not a huge movie person in general. A couple of months ago we watched "the little things" with Denzel Washington and Rami Malek. I liked that one. I will eat or drink whatever! But when not pregnant, i like a glass of wine with a movie. And either popcorn or a baked good/ice cream!

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: Mar 14/26w (RCS will be week of Mar 7)

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: kale 🤷‍♀️

    FTM/STM/TTM+: stm

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: pink

Upcoming Appointments: 12/23 for sugar test and OB

How are you feeling?: ok, uncomfortable which is frustrating since I know it gets much worse before it gets better.

Rants/Raves: Rave: We joined a new church yesterday. There are about 30 new members, bulk of them young families, so that’s exciting. It’s a small church, maybe 150/200 members total, so it feels very cozy and supportive. We’ve been attending online and outside and just recently started meeting inside and masked. Church with a toddler is an experience! But it feels good to join a church home in our new neighborhood. Rant: my brain is DONE with working. I need a break.

    Questions:natm

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie?

In the Before Times I loved going to movies. But that was also before having DS so it all feels different now. Last movie I watched that I really enjoyed was Dune. We hosted my SIL and BIL and ate pizza, watched the movie, drank fancy cocktails/mocktails. It was fun! We’re going to try and do it again with some friends to watch maybe Shang-Chi or Black Widow.

At a movie theater I’m a peanut m&m girl. At home we’ll make popcorn in the whirley pop.

  • @rachelredhead That is awesome about your new church. Sounds like a great place!

@morgantu Happy birthday to DD! I am so sorry she is still unwell and you don't have any answers to her fevers. I hope she has a great birthday!

@faithmovesmountains Hugs! I will also be entering the second time parent world and I'm terrified about the adjustment. I am so sorry you feel unsupported. I can tell you are a great mom and I am sure things will find their rhythm eventually.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 27+4/ 3/3

Baby is the size of a(n) / interesting fact: Not sure!

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Pink

    Upcoming Appointments: OB on Friday

How are you feeling?: Still battling a sinus infection. It has made life pretty miserable. I am feeling majorly guilty because I've had to take so much medicine. I never had to take take medicine with DD and this poor baby is swimming in it  :'(

Rants/Raves: Not a lot. I'm really looking forward to taking some time off work around the holiday. I had a big case of the sunday scaries last night and just need a break. Which is weird because my job isn't really that stressful. Not sure what is going on with me. I did buy baby girl a few things over the weekend. It is starting to feel real!

    Questions: Nope

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie?

I hate going to movies. I get anxiety being trapped in the theater and definitely prefer being at home. This is hard since DH loves going to the theater. I usually get Milk Duds and popcorn. I honestly can't think of the last good movie we watched.

  • @rachelredhead oh yeah! we watched dune too! It's DH's absolute favorite book series so i humored him and watched it. Once i figured out who was who and turned on the captions so i could tell what they were saying, i liked it!
  • @Panaceia that’s how it was with A, a few days then it was a week, then we hit his diagnosis, but he’s never even asked for it since that first day he went without. FX N is ready to be done 🤞🏼

@faithmovesmountains so sorry you’ve been feeling that way, I’ve had real big bouts of that myself. Keep expressing your feelings and if you can try and pinpoint how others can help let them know

@morgantu ohhh I’ll be interested to see if DD is right! Happy birthday to DD, hope you guys get the answers you need soon

@rachelredhead yay for a new community to be a part of! Yea I can’t imagine church with a toddler 😬

Upcoming Appointments: gestational on Wed, I ate three Reese’s 🤭 and tested my blood sugar at 108 so yea I def don’t have it, but I doubt they’ll take my word for it and let me skip 😂

    How are you feeling?: alright

Rants/Raves: having a hard time dealing with people around me right now, but trying to work on it. My friends just don’t seem to know what to say to me and end up saying something that pisses me off (T1D misconception or the “it could always be worse” which is very easy to say when you have a healthy child and have no idea what my days are like) and then I just hide away in my own bubble.

Questions: linea nigra! I definitely had one by now last time, but nada yet. Do you guys have? Did you guys get in third tri last time? I’m kind of hoping I skip that this time, mine stayed for like 7 months postpartum last time

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie?

Both? Depends on my mood for sure. I’m a classic popcorn kinda girl

  • @gembud I had one last time too but it hasn't appeared yet this time either. I'm sure it will pop up eventually for me. I'm sorry about the friend struggles. I am sure those comments really sting, no matter how well meaning they are. Have you been able to find any sort of online support group? Maybe there is a Facebook or Reddit group?
  • @kgg2241 ah I missed your post, I feel like my bump never refreshes new posts if I’m in it 😑 so sorry you’re dealing with being sick! Baby is ok, you have to take care of yourself too, try not to feel guilty I know it’s hard

and yea I’m in a FB group for parents with children under 4 years old with T1D but it’s 2k people and it’s a lot of really good advice and learning, but not quite “support”. I did reach out to a T1D org to be set up with another parent in my area, but they said it can take a few weeks to hear 🤷🏻‍♀️

Upcoming Appointments: Jan 3rd I think? I’ll be 28+5 and that’s when I’ll do my 1 hr glucose. Seems late, but I’m not complaining.

How are you feeling?: I skipped my unisom and B6 one night and felt awful the next day, but have kept up the last few days so much better.

Rants/Raves: we moved into our new house this weekend! Still have so much to bring in from the garage and unbox, but so glad to have it all together. I’m so exhausted after such a big weekend. I def need a prenatal massage now!

Questions: I need all the frozen meal recipes? Maybe when we hit 3rd tri( wait…are some of y’all already there?? 🤯) I’ll start a thread so wr can share good ones. I didn’t do that last time, but I def want to this time!

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie?

Going to the movies helps me stay focused, and I love going all out with snacks and drinks. Like @faithmovesmountains, I grew up low income and couldn’t afford snacks the few times we got to go to the movies. So now that I can afford it, I love to splurge and make it a special experience!

  • @Panaceia im totally a movie napper too. Rarely make it all the way through.
@faithmovesmountains im so sorry you aren’t getting the support you need. As a STM I can relate to your anxieties. I hope some TTMs are able to offer kind words and advice. I do know that mothers in particular rise to the occasion time and time again, despite challenges, and against all odds. You have already done that in mothering your son through the grief of losing your daughter. Your love and reach are infinite. I hope you know we are always here to listen ❤️
@morgantu Happy Birthday to DD! hope the repeat UA gives you some answers.
@rachelredhead have been wanting to see Dune!
@kgg2241 Happy you get a break soon. Currently halfway through an 11 day work-break and it has been so nice for my mental health.
@gembud no linea negra until the last couple weeks for me last time, none yet this time. Also- wish I could apologize on behalf of every friend who has let you down recently. Toxic positivity is hurtful, and an unnecessary burden to add to the challenges you’re already facing. Im sorry ❤️

Upcoming Appointments: Dec 17 for OB and GTT

How are you feeling?: Have had a great week just spending time with our little family, mini baby-moon, lots of christmas decorating, and a Harry Potter marathon. Feel like maybe there has been another hormonal shift recently as I near third tri that has finally pulled me out of the foggy depression I was in before.

Rants/Raves: Rave: had my first solo Target run this morning in 2? years. Was magical. Picked up a mirror and shelf for the nursery and a few compulsive extra christmas gifts for DS.

Questions: anyone else not very happy with their prenatal care? If I could do it over I would plan a birth center birth with midwife care. Even the midwives in my practice have been really disappointing.

GTKY: Definitely prefer being at home to going out. We are professional homebodies. We also watch way more shows than movies. Love movie theater popcorn though.

  • @Panaceia congrats on passing the GTT!

@faithmovesmountains Happy early birthday! I'm also in the same boat, but going from 1 to 3 kids! Not sure how we will survive the circus. Hoping my soon-to-be 4 year old will be helpful!

@morgantu Happy birthday to your DD! Hope she feels better soon.

@kgg2241 hope you will feel better soon!

@gembud yes! I have the linea negra that goes up past belly button! I think I noticed it last week? They say if you have line above belly button, it's a boy. Below belly button, it's a girl.

Upcoming Appointments: 12/13 OB, 12/22 for growth scan w/MFM

How are you feeling?: Belly is feeling ginormous, and hard to bend over. Putting on socks and shoes is the worst!

Rants/Raves: We got home from our babymoon this past weekend in VA, and it was lovely. Had a nice massage, enjoyed good food, and it was nice to not be attached to a toddler's schedule! Still getting RLP when I make abrupt movements, especially when adjusting my sleep position. :(

    Questions:

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie? Prefer watching at home because if I'm with DH, he always has to take a bathroom break in the middle! We watched Red Notice and Promising Young Woman over the weekend, both very good. I also saw King Richard last night which I thought was also great! I LOVE SNACKS! Sometimes it's on the healthier side like sliced apples and cheese, or I go the kettle popcorn and chocolate-covered almonds route. Depends on my mood!

  • @faithmovesmountains I’m worried about two as well  but one of my coworkers who had two under two just remember it will get easier  for her she said about every two months things got easier and easier. Better flow and rhythm etc. she said then once the youngest was close to 2 it was a piece of cake because they played with each other. I keep reminding myself all these “bad and hard parts” are short lived. Things will change and adapt  and that keeps me going on those really tough days (whether mentally or physically). Hugs!

How are you feeling?: overall okay  I had a full week where I was very “blah” wondering if it was some depression  or just exhaustion. Right now doing a bit better. I’ve worked a lot the last 5 days which wasn’t helpful😂

Rants/Raves: rave for DH  Saturday was a day off in the midst of working a lot and he did most of DS duty and it was majorly helpful for me. Physically and emotionally. Rant because apparently my double spacing isn’t adding a period at the end of my sentences  I’m too lazy to fix 😆  another rant is I’m majorly procrastinating painting the nursery  and now our big furniture has arrive and the boxes are sitting in our hallway just taunting me

    Questions:Natm

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie?

I used to LOVE going to the movies. But now prefer cuddled under a blanket at home (and probably dozing off halfway through) but in general I don’t watch many movies these days.. I’m an ice cream fan when not pregnant apparently so that’s probably my go to

  • @morgantu Thinking of you guys and hoping you get some answers soon (plus also I don't trust SO to do anything important or medical related for the kids so I'm impressed your H got anything done at all!)

@kgg2241 I hope you start feeling better soon ❤ I was forced to get x-rays when 26 weeks pregnant with DD1 and hated it! But we need to keep ourselves healthy so baby can be healthy. And it's so fun to start buying baby stuff 😊

@gembud People are dumb. I hate when people try to give advice or comment on things they know nothing about. Thinking about you and A constantly and love reading your daily stories about T1D! Also, I never had linea negra with any of my pregnancies so far so I'm no help:/

@night_nurse I hated my prenatal care with my first, liked it better with my second, and now with y 3rd have combined the 2 so I'm really happy this time...but it took 3 healthy oregnancies and all my losses to figure out what was going to work for me. Also super jealous of your Harry Potter marathon! I'm almost finished reading the first book with DD1 and can't wait to finish it so she can watch the movie! And I'm glad you're starting to feel a bit better ❤

@jennifer_m21 I bet your 4 year old will LOVE having 2 little brothers to teach and play with ❤

@nursejenn5 I don't have that much to do to get the room ready...just figure out where I'm going to put the crib and make sure my bed and DD2's bed are going to work with the crib...but I can't even muster the energy to measure anything let alone move stuff around. I say you're a champ for even planning to paint!
  • @Panaceia I’m glad you’ve had more movement! Always a relief.
@faithmovesmountains Sorry to hear you’re not feeling supported in your overwhelm. You are certainly allowed to feel however you feel, regardless of what anyone says.
@morgantu happy birthday to your DD! FX the urine sample results come back quickly and you get the answers you’re looking for!
@rachelredhead We loved Dune! Can’t wait for the next installment (though our babies will probably be 18mo by then lol).
@gembud I have been wondering about the linea nigra myself! I also had one by now with my son, from pubic bone to breast bone. But now? Nothing! I’ll be interested to see if one appears in the next month or two.
@appleblossom8317 congrats on the move! Moving while pregnant is an adventure for sure!
@night_nurse your week sounds fantastic!! I haven’t had a good HP marathon sins DS was about 18mo (so about 18mo ago!).

How are you feeling?: Pretty good! The PGP and hip pain from last week have really calmed down a lot, and that has let me be more productive.  Emotionally I’m loads better this week as well…except for the continued randomness of feeling baby movement.  She will go from dance party all night to nothing for hours and hours  so I start to get worried.  And then “Tap” she’ll nudge me.  Anterior placenta is the worst thing for my mental state sometimes haha

Rants/Raves: Rave- I have 1 Christmas gift left to figure out, and I’ll be done! Plus, I got 3 different “your order is out for delivery” messages this morning, including baby girl’s personalized swaddle and nursing bras!!

    Questions: natm

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie?

I do love movies; at the theater or at home. Home is nice because you can hit Pause when you need a refill or bathroom break lol. But some movies are just better on the big screen. Really enjoyed Dune and Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Lately we’ve been watching lots of Christmas movies (DS really enjoys Christmas Chronicles). I’m a buttered popcorn girl, but gotta have some chocolate after to cut the salt lol

  • @achanceintime I don't have an anterior placenta this time and still rarely feel him during the day. At this age they say your movements will likely rock baby to sleep anyways, so night time is probably when they'll be up partying the most. I hope movement picks up for you soon. Pregnancy is already so stressful. There should be a biological rule that causes babies to kick hard once every 10 minutes until birth ❤❤❤

@night_nurse target alone is the happiest place on earth 😂 and thank you yes! I’ve been searching for the right word, toxic positivity is exactly it!

@jennifer_m21 interesting, I never heard that before! Mine was way up and sooo thick last time

@Panaceia omg I did all of November for diabetes awareness month, but man am I glad that’s over! I was scrambling at 6am to find something informational and something funny everyday. Until next year 😂 But, I have a Christmas one that made me laugh so I’ll have to throw one in this month

Rants/Raves: Survived hopefully my last work trip to Spain while pregnant.  Jet lag and pregnancy are a dangerous combo for exhaustion

We enjoy both going out or staying in. I love a good moving night with DH. I have a weakness for movie theater popcorn. We went out to the new ghostbusters movie as a family recently and DS really enjoyed it.

  • @Panaceia poopsie unicorn 😅😅 made my day! Yay for passing GTT!!

I'm getting stressed about IKEA being out of stock for everything... I reeeeally want to have DH's storage shelf in time to surprise him for Christmas...
    Also...toddlers man...

Questions: something but now I can't remember

GTKY: I do love the theater. But I haven't been in 3 years because...sick tiny human and COVID.
I also haven't actually got to sit down to watch an entire movie since he was born. I'm too tired by the time I get him to sleep. I end up watching it in 2-3 parts. (I have watched entire movies, on the nights during the first 6 months where I was sitting up all night every night. Eventually I realized 10+ hours sitting there would pass faster if I utilized my handy dandy phone😅
  • @Sarah0335 I just switched from tums to generic Prilosec and it was AMAZING relief.

@achanceintime good for you on the Christmas shopping!

    @jennifer_m21 that babymoon sounded lovely!

@gembud I never had a linea nigra with DD1 🤷‍♀️ Also, sorry to hear your support system is lacking at the momen ☹️ It is a crappy enough situation, never mind adding on top of that feeling isolated or not supported by those closest to you. I strongly dislike when our society relies on the person struggling to identify the ways they need help or support because I think it is an unfair burden; however, I’m sure your friends/family want to be helpful but are a bit clueless as to how to do that (as many people are in this type of situation, unfortunately). You can take it or leave it based on what feels right to you, but here is my two cents about one or two things you could consider asking them for that might help you feel less alone. Would you want to be able to vent without anyone offering solutions? If so, saying something along the lines of ‘Hey, I need a friend who can just listen to me vent my frustrations right now and all I need is for you to listen/validate that this is hard and it sucks. Do you think we could chat on the phone for a little while after DS goes to bed?’ might give them a very specific idea of how to help without solutionizing. Or would it be more helpful to have someone who can help you find some space from your stress and be a distraction? Maybe one of your friends would be willing to find a virtual/Covid safe activity for you guys to do together to take your mind off things for a short while. Sending you a virtual hug ❤️
  • @kgg2241 I am with you on relying on so much medication. I’ve already taken antibiotics, three nausea meds, and Prilosec this time around 😫 I try to remind myself that taking care of me IS taking care of baby, but sometimes I still feel crappy about it.

@morgantu happy bday to DD! 🎂

@faithmovesmountains sending you virtual hugs! It can be so hard when you are feeling alone and unsupported! If you don’t have one already, is it an option to find a therapist? I find it so helpful to have dedicated time with someone whose only focus is to listen and provide support to me. Psychology today is a great place to start with finding someone who works with your insurance (https://www.psychologytoday.com/ca/therapists) or even your OB! Sending virtual hugs your way. Keep us updated here, too, we want to hear how you are doing.

@Panaceia happy to help! I admit, I browsed other BMBs for GTKY questions 🤣 On the vein of weaning, DD1 weaned herself early on when I was so sick. I suspect my supply tanked and she totally lost interest and self-weaned. One day she just didn’t want it when it was offered and she never really asked after that. It was harder on me than her! I had hoped to keep nursing her through the pregnancy, but it wasn’t in the cards for us.

How are you feeling?: I felt horrible last week. I had such bad nausea and indigestion I barely slept. But with the addition of Prilosec, I feel like a new woman this week!! 🙌

    Rants/Raves: Rave: Prilosec 🤣

    Questions: none atm

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie?

I much prefer watching movies at home. However, on the rare occasion I do go to the movies, I am obsessed with the movie theaters with reclining and heated seats! That was a favorite late-pregnancy activity in my last pregnancy. That’s actually the last time I went to the movie theater - 38 weeks pregnant with DD1…

I loooove snacks during a movie. I love movie theater popcorn (homemade or from the concessions), but I am usually cheap and pack a drink and snow caps in my bag.

The last movie I remember seeing in theaters and loving was Rocketman (huge Elton John fan). At home, I watched a documentary on Ruth Bader Ginsburg and it was amazing.

  • @jenis_fan_for_life ohhh I like that a lot! The space from stress and distraction is exactly what I need - I’m awful at asking for help, tons of guilt when I admit I need something, but I’m working on that and I feel like that’s would be really helpful right now - thank you!

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie?

I feel like I don’t have time to watch movies anymore. I literally cannot remember the last movie I watched lol! I love going to the movies and I miss my little movie dates with my oldest. We haven’t gone since before Covid and we are so ready! Lol maybe I’ll do that this weekend. I love snow caps and popcorn.

  • @Panaceia great that you're getting so much movement! Me too but I think only because I have been eating more sugar lately than Will Ferrell in Elf!

@kgg2241 I am finally over my sinus infection. So sorry to hear you still have yours. After 3 weeks of  loading up on tylenol, I can say I feel your anxiety over the prolonged use of it! But like I said before, people have taken way worse and their babies have been healthy! I am sure ours will be too. I just hope your sinus infection finally goes away soon. My OB said I CAN take the tylenol cold and sinus because the antihistimine/decongestant in it was safe (but not any other brand of cold and sinus med). It helped me to switch to that as opposed to regular tylenol.

@gembud no linea nigra for me yet! I got one with my son, and none with my daughter. This is another girl so I am not expecting one this time either but we shall see!

@faithmovesmountains sorry you're feeling overwhelmed. Hopefully we can provide some measure of support even though we're just computer friends! As far as having 2+ kids (I have Baby #3 on the way), I did not find that 2 children was much harder than one. My son is in SK and he is a handful. My daughter is 2 and she is easy as pie. I don't think having my daughter added any more work, maybe some extra snuggles though. Always important to remember that the more kids we have, the more adult children we have to take care of us when we're old and frail! That's my plan anyways; I see it as an investment in my future!

@nightnurse I am jealous of your Target trip. We don't have Target in Canada anymore but when we did, I was there on the daily.

How are you feeling?: Pretty good this week.

Rants/Raves: I haven't done my christmas shopping yet you guys. So I am hoping amazon prime can pull through for most of it. Will put in some orders tonight. No idea why I procrastinate when I love christmas so much! Most of my christmas baking is ready. I made cinnamon buns, sugar cookies and gingerbread over the weekend! sticking it in the freezer until closer to christmas.

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie?

Well, I am in Canada so movie theatres just opened a few months ago following a LONG COVID closure and based on what our government has been saying, everything probably be closed again soon. We did get out to see Dune as well a few weeks ago in iMax, which was nice. But normally I prefer to stay home on the couch to watch my movies with a candle, a tea(or wine) and some ice cream! Cheesy 90s thrillers are my jam, but lately its been all about the christmas movies (obvs). I binged on hallmark while baking this weekend. the plotline of my favourite one was something about a big city executive falling in love with a farm boy and moving to a small town...... (LOL JK)

  • @faithmovesmountains I'm sorry that you are feeling overwhelmed. I found that moving from 1 to 2 was hairy in the moments, but now as they are older it's awesome.

@kgg2241 hope you feel better soon!

How are you feeling?: Freaking exhausted and huge. My doc said that women with subsequent pregnancies often feel a month ahead physically.

Rants/Raves: My body is tired. I'm overwhelmed. Dh has been gone constantly. I will be gone all weekend, when I just need a solid week to get things done.

I also have to figure out wording for the shower invite. Since he has clubbed feet, I want it cute but straight to the point. I basically need people sticking to registry as I have invested a lot of time into research, and I don't want to go return all the things.

    Questions: Nope

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie?

I have been getting extreme anxiety in public where a lot of people are close together. And movie theaters make me feel trapped. I want to be home.

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 26+2 (I just had to open my Bump app to figure that out)

Upcoming Appointments: I go weekly now, so I've got an appt on Monday again. Anyone else already doing weekly appointments?!?

How are you feeling?: Sore. Tired. Particularly tired of waking up at night and of my 3 year old trying to find and push every boundary he can with me.

Rants/Raves: I passed my 1 hour glucose test! Woo Hoo!  And we sold my old car, which was bittersweet.  I loved that car, but can't fit 3 kids in the backseat so I'm officially a minivan mom now.

Questions: As I said above, has anyone else had their doc say the new AMA guidance is for high risk moms to start going weekly at 24 weeks? I'm shocked - and also a little annoyed because none of these weekly tests are covered by the global OB payment so it's like $266 a week (I'm on a high deductible plan).

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie? I like to go to the movies, but not to drive far to get to them.  The local dinner/movie theater didn't survive the covid shut down which makes me really sad, so I haven't been to a movie theater since Frozen 2.

  • @michelle_bird I haven’t heard that AMA guidance at all, is it super recent? We’re at the same point (I’m 26w3 and I’m 41) but I’ll see my OB at 28w. Last time (when I was 39) I didn’t go weekly until 37w. I’ll be interested to see what my schedule is in third tri since I’m high risk (AMA, obesity, history of epilepsy) but definitely hoping to avoid weekly trips.
  • @faithmovesmountains I've known some moms who thought the transition from 0 to 1 was hard and 1 to 2 was a breeze. I personally had a really hard time with the transition from 1 to 2 and was depressed/anxious during my 2nd pregnancy as a result. It finally got better for me and I started feeling like "Oh, I CAN handle and enjoy this" around the time my 2nd turned 6 months. You'll hit your stride, I promise!

@morgantu I hope you get answers on your daughter soon!  When my son had recurrent fevers it turned out to be walking pneumonia - have they ruled that out yet? Happy birthday to her!

@achanceintime I'm so jealous that you're almost done shopping!

@Sarah0335 after tums I upgraded to Pepcid.  It stopped working for me, so my doc just approved me going to Prilosec a week or so ago and I'm much happier now! If/when this stops working I'll go to prescription prilosec, which is a double dose apparently.

@goldfishcraker the pregnancy brain forgetting things has been REAL lately! I walked all the way to the park to get my phone from DH so that I could open our garage......not thinking about the fact that we have a keyless entry pad next to the garage.  Ugh!

@MusicalFamily OMG, the bump pics with this 3rd kid.  I took them weekly with #1, monthly-ish with #2 and so far I've taken exactly 1 picture with #3. Poor kid.
  • @rachelredhead Hmm, well now I'm skeptical. In 2018 with #2 I think I started going weekly around 34 weeks because I was over 35 and was borderline pre-e with #1. 24 weeks seems like a lot!  I have hypertension and am medicated for it this time (first pregnancy I've been on meds).  HMMMM.

@michelle_bird I had my second at 40 and I'll be 43 in a couple of months with this one and so far it's no different than with my pregnancy at 34. Monthly until 28 weeks, then every 2 weeks until 37 I think? I am only AMA with history of loss and hemhorrage...so maybe not as high risk? But for me there have been no differences.
  • @michelle_bird My OB hasn’t mentioned anything about the AMA guidance changing, at least not yet (I’m 26w3d, and I go for my next appointment at 27w) As far as I know it’s still every 4w until 28w, then every 2w until 36w. I am AMA (41) and have a history of preeclampsia, so we will see I guess! Weekly does seem like a lot if everything is going smoothly.

Upcoming Appointments: well I'm actually in L&D triage right this second getting monitored, but everything seems to be fine

How are you feeling?: I fell down the stairs this morning, belly first. I was holding my two-year-old's hand with one hand and holding a pile of his toys with my other hand, and I just lost my balance and went sledding down the stairs on my belly. I feel fine, and my 2-year-old is fine, but my midwife said I should come in for monitoring to make sure the placenta is ok. Baby looks perfect on monitors, but they have to keep me hooked up for a while to make sure the placenta is ok.

Rants/Raves: I reallllllly hate hospitals you guys

    Questions:

GTKY: Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching them at home? What is the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed? Do you have a favorite thing to eat/drink while watching a movie?

I prefer watching at home, it's just so much comfier and more convenient, not to mention cheaper, and the huge screen just doesn't do much for me. When I do go out to the movies, I love the places that will serve you full-on dinner. It's a treat to be able to properly eat while watching. Recently I really enjoyed Dune. Before that I had some fun watching Night Teeth, which isn't a great movie but my cousin worked on it (she's a script supervisor) and it was fun having her there explaining everything that was going on behind the scenes while they were shooting.

  • @gembud I'm sorry you're having to deal with that. Toxic positivity makes me effing crazy, it can just be so incredibly inconsiderate and unsympathetic, you know? And then this smiling friend acts like they expect you to thank them for saying something that just made you feel worse... it's awful. Do you feel connected to enough T1D parents who've been through this themselves? A friend of mine has a daughter who was diagnosed at 3 (she's 4 now), would you be interested in chatting with her if I tried to connect you?
  • @jessier19 oh geez, how scary. I fell once my last pregnancy and had to go in for monitoring. I hope you and your placenta are all just fine and you get out of there asap!
  • @jessier19 I'm glad things are looking OK!!! I fell hard on my stomach on a concrete floor when 26 weeks pregnant with DD1. I broke my ankle and shoulder and had contractions but luckily baby was fine (lesson was don't wear healed boots while pregnant...). I fell off the bed from a standing position while pregnant with DD2 while trying to make a fort for DD1...also around 26 weeks. I had some bleeding but again luckily everything was fine. Luckily they are well protected in there! I'll be 26 weeks Monday so hoping history doesn't repeat itself again. I'm glad you went in for monitoring! They kept me hooked up for 4 hours plus ultrasound with DD2's fall, and longer with DD1 just because of the breaks and xrays:/
