R/R: I woke up to thunder and lightening this morning! So exciting. But also the thunder woke me up at my usual weekday hour of 5:30 when I had hoped to sleep in for once... Like even 6:30 would be nice? Please? But by the time I was done temping (i know, i know, there's no point now that i'm this far into the LP) I was wide awake. Also, I am not really a Halloween person, but I'm excited on behalf of all y'all who are!

CS/Q: Still just truckin' along here. Nothing unusual to see except those early low temps.

R/R: I'm really starting to feel like a beached whale. Sweatpants are only comfortable if worn low below my navel, or up to my waist. Only a few more days of this... I can do it! I really am hoping for a good crop of eggos.

I still haven't decorated for Halloween and I figure I probably should if we want kids to come over for trick or treating. My this is my self-care weekend so I'm not sure if I'm up for it. It's also drizzling because we're shrouded in fog, so I'm not eager to go outside in this weather. So, tbd if I'll decorate or not.

@acleverusername oh they're the ones right after my presumed O date on the 22nd and 23rd (Fri-Sat). I've been boring everyone over here in TWW with my whining about these early temps, so sorry, guys. Anyway, left to its own devices, FF wants me to have a CD14 O date on the basis of my temps, which I'm refusing to go along with because I think temps matter less than other signs. Based on OPK, my usual ovulation symptoms, and CM, I'm calling it for CD12, possibly CD13. I just think I had a slow uptick in my progesterone response this time around. I guess we'll find out whenever I return to CD1, since my LPs are pretty consistently 15-16.

It's so exciting that you're back in the saddle again for the ER. What day are you expecting to trigger? Also re: halloween and self care, just buy a bag of halloween candy and eat it at home in the dark while watching a movie. Save a few for the kids in case any intrepid trick-or-treaters decide to stop by.

AFM, I never bother with halloween candy prep because ain't no kid is gonna hike the third of a mile down our spooky driveway to knock on our door. But maybe I should buy some candies anyway!

@shortstack930 congrats on making it through your switch to night shift! and gaaaah, 11/1 is so soon *bites fingers*.

@optimistgardener bummer about being woken up early by thunder on your day off. Question, are you using a bbt thermometer and rounding your temps? Or just a regular thermometer? Your chart looks pretty now!

@acleverusername I hope you got your decorations up and without getting too wet! Also boo to feeling like a whale. Certain points in my cycle I definitely feel that. I hope you can get over this hump quickly!

R/R: This weekend has been a crazy one, but I knew it would be busy going into it. All pretty fun and decent so far! We finally got our washer, with the wrong hose… so that was fun. And while maneuvering it, we had to move the hot water tank to get it through and found that that was broken too. I’d actually been asking mh if it was doing ok, and turns out it wasn’t and I was right. A $650 right is not the kind of right I want to be. Friday we went with my mil and her guy friend to some winery’s which was fun but also it poured the whole time. Boo. Yesterday, I woke up with no voice at all and congestion. Ugh. I’m starting to feel better today so I’m guessing just a cold but I just hate being sick.

CS/Q: meh I quit temping because for me drinking and temping don’t go together well.

@paytonpedro oh no for being sick! i've been living in fear of getting my first cold after all the covid distancing. i know it's just a matter of time because my students have all been getting colds, but so far so good. that sounds really frustrating re: hauling the washer in, discovering you have the wrong hose, and then having to also discover you need to replace your water heater. we just replaced our water heater here a couple of years ago and it was a heck of a job. were you able to find the right hose to at least get one job accomplished?
As for my temping habits, yeah. I just use a standard thermometer. it's never done me wrong so far. others may find value in the smaller numbers but for me it seems like that much information is just excess. I unfortunately am capable of having very pretty charts, mainly because my LP is so consistent. Whatever it is that has kept me from getting pregnant all this time, it is not, it seems, a problem to do with my corpus luteum's ability to pump out progesterone at a steady clip. That having been said, my chart got slightly less pretty today as I am having my usual CD 9-10 dip. If it is like other LPs in my past my temp will then pop misleadingly back up again and i'll ride right into cd1 on a high note. I am the poster child for why not to get one's hopes up about "implantation dips" or triphasic charts, because i do them all the time, and sometimes both at once.

@optimistgardener this is actually my second cold, but the last was just a little bit of congestion. Considering 6 colds have gone through my house in the past 3 months, I’m ok with just having this one and the sniffles with one of the others.

Both the hot water tank and the washer are up and running after multiple trips to home depot. I’m very lucky mh is kinda handy, and that my cousin helped him. Lol.
I started off using just a regular thermometer and had everyone telling me it was wrong and I needed a basal thermometer. When the batteries died in my standard I looked online for a new thermometer and found a backlit bb thermometer and now I can’t go back. Lol. If it was a backlit standard I’d feel the same way. But hey!? Whatever works! It’s clearly working for you! People scrutinizing their charts in the lp (on other apps, not here) drive me crazy. Isn’t an implantation dip super rare?

Spoilering for long rant about implant dip theories:

i dunno what the stats are for an implant dip, but the logic of it, such as it is, I think requires some very specific conditions that seem like they would not commonly be met. I think the theory of the implant dip is that your lp temp is supposed to drop as your corpus luteum deteriorates towards what would be the end of your cycle normally, but then your temperature is "rescued" as the embryo implants and pregnancy hormones start to increase. this logic only really works for women who would normally see an early peak in their LP temp followed by a decline towards the end of a shortish LP (it would need to be shortish because implantation usually happens around days 7-10 and we wouldn't see any temp response from implantation for a couple of days after). this would then be followed by an unusual temp increase during a time when they would normally expect their temp to keep dropping. the logic doesn't really mostly work very well though, since for women with LPs of this "shortish" type, one would typically become "overdue" for a CD1 right around the same time as they got that suspicious bump in temperatures. A true implant dip would I believe come a bit later in the LP than most women start looking for it, since it is by nature a "rescue" rise on the other side.
To complicate things further (and i think this is mostly what people see in their charts, regardless of whether they're KU or not, when they identify implant dips), most women have a little second peak in estrogen levels about 7-8 days (more or less) after O. This transient E2 rise can result in a brief dip in temps and an increase for a few days in other symptoms like wetter CM or even EWCM, but is typically displaced a couple of days later by a resurrection of the progesterone-led effects for a few days before CD1 returns. This has nothing to do with whether a person is KU and can be found all over the place in preg and non-preg charts.

Hi all, I'm new to the bump, but just need some support, advice or a reality check haha. I am in TWW hell here. Tracked ovulation this month and "proved" ovulation with PDG tests. I'm 13dpo and 3 days late for my period with no typical signs that AF is on its way. Took a pregnancy test today, yesterday and day before - all BFN. Ugh. Thing is, days 9dpo and 10dpo I had weird, centered, tingly cramps. That and bloating since 3dpo have been my only "symptoms". Does my 13dpo mean I'm out this month? It was with a FRER for what that's worth.

hi there @tryingtokeeponkeepingon and welcome to TTGP. As a newbie, you'll want to do two things first and foremost:

1) Read the rules posted prominently at the top of the board. If you read them, you'll find that our #1 rule is not to ask, either directly or in a roundabout way, if you're pregnant. So we're not going to play symptom spot here (e.g., the "tingly cramps," the bloating). If I had to guess, btw, I'd say those tingly cramps and bloating are a sign that your progesterone levels were high (as they should be during a luteal phase) and that you're paying more attention to your body than you used to and so you noticed them. Cramps are a neither here nor there symptom when it comes to being knocked up vs. just having standard high progesterone levels in LP. I get LP cramps all the time and I've never gotten a BFP in 3+ years of trying.

2) Introduce yourself over in our newbies thread. This is the one from last week but a new one gets started each week. That way we can learn more about you and be of better support.

@tryingtokeeponkeepingon one last thing. FRERs are very powerful tests and should pick up the presence of HCG in your urine at 13dpo. I'll quote @stormageddon-darklordofall here and say if you're testing negative at 13dpo, you're not pregnant at this time. Another possibility is that you've mis-calculated your O date and you're earlier along in your LP than you think. We like using OPKs and temping around here to help more accurately gauge O day.

@optimistgardener Thunder and lightening sounds so exciting to wake up to! Also, I'm not a halloween person either. It's just another day to me. lol With you too on the regular thermometer. I figure I'll go with this the first few cycles and if I notice I need more specific numbers then I'll get a bbt, but I'm not leaning toward that seeing how wild my temps are this time around. I will most definitely be search for a backlit one though because having to shine my phone light on the thermometer every morning isn't the greatest thing.

R/R: This week was a hard one. MH was sick all week, so I was trying to balance WFH, helping him out with stuff cause he couldn't do much, and keeping up with the house and cooking and errands by myself, and I just feel drained. I feel like I need a week off to recover, but I'm trying to keep in mind that with the holidays coming up I'm going to have a number of days off and that's definitely something to look forward to. Also potentially going with my friend next weekend on a girls trip to her family's beach house, and that sounds like a great getaway to me.

CS/Q: I decided to throw out the random fertile CM on CD15, so O was moved to CD12, and that seems the more right to me if we're going off CM. Friday I woke up really hot in the morning, when normally I wake up cold, so I'm not trusting that temp. But as you can see, my temps have a high fluctuation this cycle anyway so who knows.

@tryingtokeeponkeepingon welcome! Everything @optimistgardener said. You will really drive yourself insane if you “symptom spot” in your luteal phase. If you got your O date right and still getting negative HPTs you’re unfortunately not pregnant (FRER test’s sensitivity is 6.64mIU/mL… aka VERY sensitive.)

@optimistgardener thank you for the reply. I was using opks but not temping. It's possible I've miscalculated I guess. I'm certainly trying to keep my hopes down as I know it's pretty unlikely at this point. Although no AF yet... Heavier CM. Perhaps I'll start temping next cycle

And you're right about the symptoms spotting! It IS driving me crazy. And of course when you Google something you always read the exceptions... It's just so hard to stop your brain from going there and analyzing everything!

@tryingtokeeponkeepingon yeah the symptom spotting (SS) gets to all of us, even the most veteran. FX for you though. I hope (in the nicest of ways) that you don't have to stick around here for long. If you do get a positive test, go find your way to the BMB (bump month clubs) where they'll be happy to welcome you to the other side.
