Just a few days late… 😏

Re: October Symptoms

  • Hello, pregnancy insomnia, thank you for waking me up at 4:30 am and never letting me go back to sleep.

  • @zamoraspin2 Ugh that's awful. I've been waking up at 5 and didn't even think/connect the dots that it could be pregnancy related.

I've been dealing with heartburn, but it took me by surprise this time just like it did last time. it doesn't present as a "burning" sensation, i just have this awful nausea.

  • +1! I too woke up at 4:49am again today…but managed to go back to sleep thankfully.

I also whipped out the pregnancy pillow and it helped going to sleep so much!

  • @Avrilmai Oh I’m sure it’s pregnancy related. With DS2 I woke up progressively earlier and had trouble getting back to sleep. It doesn’t help to need to pee all the darned time, usually I wake up needing to pee and then start to have trouble going back to sleep. DS2 and I went on a nature walk around our house and now I’m showing him Hocus Pocus in a bid to survive until his nap 😅

Yuck! Can you take anything stronger than tums for that?
  • YES to the mid-night wakings, usually from 3:30 to 4:30 for me. My mom told she thinks it’s my body’s way to prepare to wake up and stay awake during nighttime feedings once the baby comes. 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • Ditto to insomnia- woke up to pee at 2:30 last night and couldn't fall back asleep. DH and I use headspace sleepcasts / sleep music to sleep and it helps us a lot. Turned on some sleep music last night at like 3:30 and was finally able to fall asleep again.
  • @zamoraspin2 Add me to the insomnia club... it's so frustrating! I've just nightweaned my daughter, so she's starting to sleep through, and of course, I'm not!
  • Ditto insomnia. I wake up usually at like 2 ish and it takes 2 hours to go bank to sleep
  • I'm 13 w 4 d. Yes with the middle of the night insomnia! Last night was 1am - 3am. I'm also having to pee 2-3 times a night, which was not normal prior to pregnancy. Nausea has gone (yay) and the only other real mean symtom seems to be migranes. Oh and been dealing with constipation for the past few days so that has been fun. I was going to say I haven't really felt pregnant lately but after listing these symtoms, that's clearly not accurate lol.
  • Joining the insomnia train. I didn't sleep at all again last night. Yay...
  • Been in the insomnia club for a few weeks now. Sorry to welcome you all...

I am literally inhaling food right now! How is it possible to be so insanely hungry and yet so nauseous/disgusted by most foods at the same time??!!

  • @minnie_yoga_mama I have never been so hungry in my life and I’m SO TIRED of constantly deciding what to eat, especially for dinner.
  • +1 for insomnia.  So so annoying!

  • Insomnia for me, too! I’ve been trying to figure out why I couldn’t sleep…am I reading the news too much? am I stress spiraling? No, I’m just pregnant. Makes me feel a lot better, actually.
  • I’ve had insomnia too, although I thought it was because I’ve decided to try to stop taking the Unisom and just doing B6 by itself. Lots of middle of the night awakening and being unable to fall back asleep, which doesn’t help the fatigue during the day.
  • My insomnia is bad this time around as well! Plus with terrible nausea I can't even look at my phone or watch a show for relief. Lots of audio books at 4am hoping to enjoy a few minutes without heartburn and nausea.

Anyone else have heartburn and terrible nausea/throwing up? Last two I had the throwing up but I am new to heartburn and I have to say I hate it.
  • I had heartburn with my first pregnancy and am just starting to notice it a little bit now.  I remember last time it didn't really hit until closer to halfway through.  I'd be happy if it just kept it's distance altogether!
    IAmPregnant Ticker
  • And when I say heartburn I mean BAD.  Like Tums, Prilosec, and Zantac bad.  All at the same time. And still very little relief.

  • @shlecks it sounds counterintuitive, but have you tried diluted apple cider vinegar before eating anything? It helped me a lot with my pregnancy with DD3. I don't know why it helped because I thought adding more acid would definitely make it worse, but I was desperate so I tried it. I ended up drinking a lot of flat shrub sodas and that helped (shrub sodas for anyone that doesn't know are kind of like.... flavored simple syrup + water except the simple syrup has apple cider vinegar or another kind of vinegar in with it? kind of weird, but the strawberry ones are pretty good).
  • @doxiemoxie212 I did try doing nightly shots of ACV in my first pregnancy. I didn’t find much relief there either. I’m just hoping this one isn’t so bad.

  • Okay so I finally got desperate with the terrible taste in my mouth and everything tasting so bizarre to me, and I did some googling on at-home remedies. One suggested rinsing with warm water and baking soda (1 cup water to 1/4 teaspoon baking soda) as needed. It works! It doesn't work for that long, but it works long enough for me to eat some mother effing food!!!!
  • I am also on the nighttime pee train 🚊🚊
  • @monstera13 This makes me a little bit nervous because I’ve been taking the B6+ unisom before bed for a few months. I still need it as of now, but now I wonder if it will be hard to sleep when I stop taking it. I’ve been sleeping so well!
  • Now that my Covid symptoms are dwindling…my nausea is back with full force! Everything makes me gag, and I can’t eat most foods. It’s so strange because I’ve never been a picky eater, and now I’ll have a bite or two of something and my body goes Nope!
Now I’m back to eating only bread and cheese and sometimes a pb&j (at least when I had Covid I could mostly anything I wanted…even though I couldn’t always taste it!).
I’m glad to know I’m not the only one with insomnia. It’s the worst…especially because I’m so tired, but can’t always manage to sleep through the night. I’m going to try taking unisom and see if it helps with the nausea and sleeping issues.
  • 11 weeks here...Still having tons of nausea.  Yesterday was one of the worst days so far.  Also I three up my antidepressants a number of times in a row, so my depression is super active.  I'm starting to recover a little bit in energy. Maybe...insomnia hasn't hit quite y t but I'm sure it's coming. I had it bad with all the others.

  • @Boobopgirl I'm sorry, that sounds miserable. Are you able to take your meds at a different time of day? Maybe you can find a time that will allow you to keep them down and work for you.  Or like an hour after taking some B6& Unisom do you're less queasy?
Oddly I'm the least nauseous around lunch time/early afternoon for no discernable reason.
  • @robbenson my meds make me slightly nauseous even when not pregnant. I've had a little success doing them with b6 and unison at bedtime, but the past week I just wake up in the middle of the night and have to puke anyway.

  • @Ivorytower2 I started taking it again because my sleep and nausea started having serious probs. I’ll probably try to stop again in two more weeks and see how it feels.
  • @shlecks curious if your first baby was born with a lot of hair? With my first daughter I got heartburn in the third tri, nothing severe, but she was born with a full head of hair like three inches long. With my second I never had any heartburn and she was completely bald until like 18 months. I know it’s an “old wives tale”, but it was true for me so always curious about others experiences.
  • @Ivorytower2 I actually think that one isn't an old wives tale - there's a chemical or something produced by the hair
  • Same with the insomnia - have had it for a few weeks now despite feeling so sleepy during the day. Needing to pee lots, so waking up in the night to pee is not helping my case.
Nausea is mostly gone though woohoo! Starting to get headaches but I'm not sure if that's more related to my hayfever because it's spring here. Also feeling super thirsty all the time. I'm so glad that I'm able to drink lots of water now without feeling sick.
  • Yesterday I felt as though I had turned a corner-I wasn't nauseous all day, a normal amount of food satisfied me-it was great! I've eaten a dinner I cooked two out of three days this week. By the end of yesterday, I had a headache, which didn't go away until just this morning, and was making me nauseous again! Hopefully it doesn't become as common as it has been for some of y'all!
  • @Ivorytower2 Well he had hair but definitely not as much as I expected! Like, within a few days he was a melon.  lol
    IAmPregnant Ticker
  • @shlecks lol! I don’t know which I loved more, the full head or the melon head.

Nausea,  headaches, and urge to vomit came on stronger than ever this week. Dizziness and some shakes.  I'm basically bedridden. Unisom and B6 make a small dent. Anyone else at a point where they can barely function? I feel like I fall somewhere between extreme pregnancy sickness and not yet hyperemesis gravidarum.
  • My nausea is a lot better, but my gagging is much more of a problem. I'm not sure how to explain that. I threw up for the first time this week.

Anyone else still having crazy dreams? I had a dream the other night that my NEPHEW was actively in labor having a baby at a second hand clothing expo. All the while I was super worried about my Chipotle food that I forgot to pick up because I had gone to see my friend who was a raging alcoholic but was now recovering. But I couldn't go get my Chipotle because I had left my car on some random street super far away. Like whatttttt??? I woke up with my stomach growling though!  :D
  • knottie25bec7cefbd06fc3 did you try talking to your dr about other meds? I have only been able to function that past few months because of Zofran.
  • Also in the motn insomnia club. I wake up between 2 and 4 to pee and it takes me hours to fall back asleep. I AM falling asleep around 9pm though so maybe my body thinks 5 hours of sleep is cool

@Blondesweety444 gagging for me has always been the larger culprit. Its like I KNOW I'm not going to throw up, but I gag all day long. Its so strange that the gagging isnt always linearly associated to the nausea.

My left side of my pubic bone is already a mess. I can't lead with my left foot while walking downstairs. I need to be better about wearing my brace. SPD didnt start with DS3 until 15 weeks but it started with this peanut at 8 weeks.
