High-Risk Pregnancy

Pregnancy after severe pre-e and 30 wk delivery

Hello,
I am currently 5 wks pregnant with an 18month old who was born at 30 wks via c/s after I had severe pre-eclampsia. I kind of got pregnant right at the cusp of that limit they told me I would have to wait until (oops) but regardless, I will be advised to seek care from maternal fetal medicine, as I will be high risk.
what’s your experiences with maternal fetal medicine? Anyone have a similar clinical course and care to share? Has anyone had pre-eclampsia more than once?

Re: Pregnancy after severe pre-e and 30 wk delivery

  • I have had ICP for 3 pregnancies and Pre-E for 2. My first pregnancy was a deliver at 35 weeks due to pre-E and ICP. My second was a 36 week delivery.  My last I had severe pre-E and ICP and delivered at 32 weeks. I saw an MFM for my first 2 pregnancies. The MFM is just a high risk dr, they will do more extensive monitoring and just consult with your OB on when to deliver, etc. It just means that you will prolly start weekly checks sooner than normal. Nothing major changes. You may have a few NSTs before delivery, but again, it's the same as you receive, just sooner than a normal pregnancy. You may not even have Pre-E this time.
