How are you feeling?: Back pain is kicking in and the fatigue is just increasing.Β
Rants/Raves: We had a wedding this past weekend which was a blast. It was so nice to see our friends and have them meet DD (we are the only ones with kids). Plus we got to take DD to Lambeau Field and see Aaron Rodgers and the Packers practice, which she loved. RANT: We are going to a lake house this weekend with DHs extended family. I bought all this stuff for boating and the lake to be told that you canβt swim in the water. Why TF did we rent a lake house if we canβt even swim in the lake? Iβm BEYOND annoyed. Plus, they are making all these plans to do things away from the house and Iβm just not up for that. I want a vacation where we can stay in one place and not race around to 15 different places just to find something to do. π

How are you feeling?: Iβm honestly just fried. Iβm so tired and out of breath all of the time. Idk if height has anything to do with pregnancy lol but I feel like my abdomen is so short that baby doesnβt have much elsewhere to go. Iβm only 5β1 so I just feel like Iβm walking around with a bowling ball strapped to me every day. π₯²
Rants/Raves: Rave- got my maternity pics back and I love basically all of them! She did a great job.Β
Rant: DH and I were talking to MIL last night, showing her maternity pics, and an updated photo of the nursery. DH told her we were waiting on our adorable mobile to come in the mail for the crib and she basically went into a big speech telling us to βstop buying thingsβ. I tried to gently tell her when itβs decor that Iβd like to buy those things myself but she basically kept insisting that people will buy us things that arenβt on our registry? It was odd. Like yes, people have already bought us things not on the registry, but I literally have received zero decor items. I think itβs just kind of a thing people understand, that the parents would like to choose the decorations? Then on top of that she said βwhat Iβm trying to say is when you have two weeks left and youβre both panicking, we will buy you things.β Am I crazy orβ¦. Why would we wait until Iβm βpanickingβ??? Iβm so lost. I think sheβs under the impression that we need more help from them financially than we really do- but if sheβs wanting to gift us something, Iβm so confused on the waiting to do it until Iβm panicking statement?? Whatβs the purpose? π€·π»ββοΈ

@madiirosee is this her first grandchild? We had the first Grand on my H's side and she said/did so many nonsensical things at first. I think she wanted to be more involved than she could have been (bc its not her pregnancy) , and was also just nervous about her (grown) baby entering this new phase of his life, and didn't really know how to transition to this new phase of her parenting journey, so she was just... really weird for a good year or so... not making excuses for your MIL, but it made it easier for me to ignore her weirdness once I realized that. Hopefully your MIL chills out and realizes you guys got this.Β

@madiirosee, ugh sorry about the MIL. My MIL was weirdly annoyed with us buying stuff for our first too. I would mention something random, like "oh, we booked maternity photos!" And my MIL would legitimately be annoyed with me and scoff and say, "oh, I wanted to buy those for you." Umm ok. But you never said so and I can't read minds?!?!? I think, like @vampirina said, it's just MIL's way of trying to be involved. Even though it's super annoying.Β

How are you feeling?: Anxious. Between DD getting (probable) RSV and reading/obsessing about the covid delta variant, my anxiety is out of control

Rant: we are STILL SICK. I'm over my food poisoning, thank goodness, as it was super miserable. But poor DD has been knocked on her butt by RSV, and I think I caught it too because I have a nasty cough. I'm physically and emotionally drained and I just want to feel better. π Also it's my 6th day missing work which has me on edge. I'm going to be so behind when I go back!

Questions: where is everyone with name discussions? We still aren't 100% and it's adding to my anxiety. We are about 80% solid on a boys name. I thought we had a girls name good to go, but H and I both suddenly have doubts about it. I'd say I'm split between two girls names and possibly neither. Yikes!!

@madiirosee I think a perfectly reasonable response would be, "We are buying things now because we do not want to be panicking two weeks out. May we reserve anything for you specifically?" But really, just keep doing what you're doing and let your husband handle her goofiness
@galentine We're pretty set on a name because we really didn't like any alternatives. And now we've got some personalized stuff, so we're going with that! It feels very weird to bestow a name on another real, live person that you've never met before

Rave -- DH and I went to a minor league baseball game on Saturday. The weather was great, and since I couldn't drink beer, I consoled myself with a giant brownie with two scoops of ice cream, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream. I absolutely could not finish it, but it was delicious.

How are you feeling?: Overdid it hiking this past weekend on my girls trip, so my back is killing me, but being back at work with my lumbar support thing on my chair and taking small walks around the plant will help. Also exhausted because I stayed up way past my bedtime the whole weekend.
Rants/Raves: Rave, I had a really great time on my trip. The indoor pool was magical. I got the longest hug from DS when I picked him up yesterday after not seeing him for a few days. Rant, I'm back at work and should've taken the day off to do laundry and sleep.

@noprobalo Your question got me looking into my hospital. So far our guidance was updated at the end of June to allow one extra support person/visitor (now 2 people). I wouldn't be surprised if they back-tracked that, but I'm OK as long as I have DH. I will try to remember to ask about this at my next appointment though.Β

He's been in Kindergarten for a week and a half and I just found out one of his classmates tested positive. Thankfully his rapid results test came back negative.
