Hi please let me know if anyone has had a similar experience! I had a miscarriage at the end of June and it was heartbreaking but we decided to immediately try again. I started feeling the same kind of “off” as I had the first pregnancy and thought maybe we were successful I took a HPT at 11 DPO which was negative, but then later that day I started having some light brown spotting and the next day the same thing. This made me think maybe I was implanting and should take another test but then the spotting turned to actual bleeding so I guess I’m on my period. The bleeding is much lighter than my regular period but definitely more than spotting for the past 3 days and I’ve been starting to get really nauseous. My husband thinks it could be unusually heavy IB and wants me to take another pregnancy test. But I can’t emotionally take another BFN. I thought my first period after miscarriage was going to be heavier not so light. The color is also more like raspberries instead of dark red like usual.
Has anyone had a similar first period post MC experience?
First, I am so sorry for your loss. Second, it is pretty normal for the first few periods after a mc to be out of the norm, sometimes they're heavier, sometimes lighter. Typically you'll level out and be back to your normal with in a few cycles. My cycle was back to normal almost immediately following my chemical pregnancy. Good luck and hope you get your rainbow soon.
my first period post MC @ 7 weeks was about the same as my normal periods, maybe a bit more cramping. Definitely not "much worse" or anything like the horror stories I read about. I miscarried in mid May, and my cycles are pretty much back to normal now, so they regulated pretty quick.
@savc I'm sorry for your loss. I've had 5 MCs and I can tell you that periods can definitely be wonky after them. It can take 6-12 months for your cycles to even out. And oftentimes, they even out to a 'new normal' and not your old normal. You can have completely different symptoms, more/less bleeding, more/less cramping, ovulation pains, odd spotting, longer/shorter cycles, etc. If you can't stand the thought of another BFN, chances are that you are not PG and I'd just wait it out. However, I also HIGHLY recommend reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility and doing Basal Body Temping. It can be SO helpful post-MC to know what your body is doing, if/when you O, and to know exactly when YOU should take a test. No taking a test every few days because you *think* you O'd at a certain time, and/or are not sure what your body is doing. You can track, see if/when you O'd, and know within a few days when you can take a test because you know it would be positive if you were PG and took it X day.
