How are you feeling?: more excited now that i’ve actually seen the baby and seen the little flicker! but the anxious side of me is like calm down, you haven’t had the NIPT tests yet
Rants/Raves:
Rant: my daughter’s dance recital is this weekend and for some unGodly reason there’s an hour intermission. Not to mention it’s only one day this year so they’re having all the dances done at once,so we’ll be there for 5 hours. at least. And because of Covid it’s outdoors so if it rains the date will be moved to July, and we will have to cancel our plans for the Cape because it’s 150.00 non refundable 😡🤬
Raves: got to see the little bean on a hand held ultrasound through my docs phone yesterday!!!
Questions:
GTKY: Let's keep with the food theme! What can you cook really well? What's your specialty?
Ugh i can bake way better than i cook. But my favorite thing I make is Cheeseburger chowder. I can make really good soups and sauces. And dips. Easy stuff haha
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Raspberry, or app icon on your phone!
Upcoming appointments: Have my 12 week NT scan/NIPT testing on July 12, which seems very far away.
How are you feeling?: I fluctuate between nauseous and ravenous, sometimes simultaneously. Peeing a lot. Bloated. Tired.
Rants/Raves: It was SO amazing to hear the baby's heartbeat! That was my "oh sh-t" moment, like this is for real!
Questions: I've had intermittent light brown-tinged discharge. I had a transvaginal yesterday, so I am assuming it's just some mild irritation. But has anyone else experienced that?
GTKY: Let's keep with the food theme! What can you cook really well? What's your specialty? I am an excellent seasoner. DH does a lot of cooking, but it's up to me to decide what a dish needs to really shine. I loooove collecting spices and seasonings. Trader Joe's spice aisle is my dream! I also make really good chicken curry, but not lately because chicken right now...*shudder.*
How are you feeling?: a little bit better? The nausea has been more manageable the last couple days
Rants/Raves: solo parenting sucks lol. My kids have been insane and my house is a wreck because I have no energy by the time they go to bed
Questions: nope
GTKY: Let's keep with the food theme! What can you cook really well? What's your specialty? I cook a lot...I’m not sure what my specialty is though. I pretty much live for crockpot/instant pot things and casseroles 😂
Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: January 7th / 9+6
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A southern pecan
Upcoming appointments: 6/23 NT scan
How are you feeling?: So tired. SO SO SO tired.
Rants/Raves: I just registered my baby boy for kindergarten. I ugly mom cried so hard. Not sure if it's just mama bear instincts or pregnancy horoscopes but it's crazy how fast 5 years went by.
Questions:
GTKY: Let's keep with the food theme! What can you cook really well? What's your specialty? I can cook a filet in a cast iron skillet like no ones business. Ask the hubs. Hes a big steak guy. He prefers mine over Ruth's Chris!
@laurabridget My face when you mentioned a ONE HOUR intermission:
That is waaaaaaay too long. Maybe I'll feel differently if I ever have a child participating in a dance recital, but I feel like the entire recital should be an hour or less. Hopefully the weather will at least cooperate so you don't have to change other plans.
@fifilala516 I have had some degree of spotting with all my pregnancies. As long as it's not bright red and paired with cramping, it's probably normal! You're probably right that it's just irritation from the transvag US.
@firewife2021 and now I really want a steak! Even though I can't have one how I want it cooked right now.
Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 7+1
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: I don't have any apps downloaded yet (sorry, third baby!), but I just googled and was informed baby is the size of a blueberry!
Upcoming appointments: Next Monday will be my last scan with the RE (as long as all is well), and I have my confirmation appointment scheduled with my OB on the 22nd.
How are you feeling?: Some nausea if I let myself get hungry, but not too bad. Other than that, really, really tired!
Rants/Raves: Rant: It's really freakin' hot and humid here! Not a good combination with first tri (or any tri...or just life in general, ha!). My other rant is that I'm pretty sure my almost-4-year-old is dropping his nap. Rave: We are finishing up a major deck reno, and our screened-in porch is almost done! We're hoping to put up the TV and put together the furniture this weekend.
Questions:
GTKY: Let's keep with the food theme! What can you cook really well? What's your specialty? Ugh, lately my "specialty" has been mac n cheese and frozen chicken nuggets. I don't know if I have anything I cook really well...I do have a good chili recipe that won a chili cook-off!
@laurabridget A 1-hour intermission is straight insanity. And hey, baking totally counts! I'm definitely not a baker, so I'm really happy that my family is perfectly content with Funfetti cakes
@fifilala516 That's awesome! I wish I had more of a feeling with seasoning. I'm pretty much a salt and pepper person, but thankfully we get meals from one of those box services, and there's a lot of really good recipes from south and SE Asia, Africa, etc that keep things interesting, and the seasonings come pre-packaged of course, haha.
@MrsJessS Glad you're starting to feel better! I started saying the same stuff yesterday and then I had a cheesesteak for dinner. Whoops.
@firewife2021 Hugs. I am NOT going to be ok when I register my kid for kindergarten next year. He's been asking a lot about what school will be like as he gets older, and he keeps asking when he starts high school
@felix08 Solidarity re: the nap drop. My 4.5 year old will nap occasionally at school, but he dropped his nap at home a couple months ago. It sucked... we tried to enforce "Quiet Time" in his room in lieu of a nap and that maybe lasts 20 minutes before he finishes his art project or coloring and starts bugging us for more stuff to do.
Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: January 5/10w1d
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a strawberry
Upcoming appointments: I have my first trimester blood draw next Monday or Tuesday, and then a video visit with a genetic counselor on June 16
How are you feeling?: I think a little better? There were a couple evenings where I don't remember complaining all that much about feeling like crap, so I think that's a sign that maybe I'm getting over the hump? But yeah, then I do something stupid like eat a huge cheesesteak for dinner and then I want to die.
Rants/Raves: I had a dentist appointment this morning and didn't gag!
Questions: nope
GTKY: Let's keep with the food theme! What can you cook really well? What's your specialty? I make a really good lasagna. It takes a long time, but it's worth it because I know it always turns out well. Plus I make a TON of it so we have dinner for days!
@firewife2021kindergarten is so hard! I was dreading it for years and then last year when my oldest was Kindergarten age I was so worried he wouldn’t have a school experience with covid. I was so thankful he was able to attend in person school all year minus 2 weeks. It put things into perspective for me. Definitely not the same but he didn’t know any different.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Baby has teeth formed and is the size of a kumquat.
