Hello ladies, 
I received my first vaccine does prior to me knowing I am pregnant. Now I am scheduled for my second dose and I am.not sure if I should take it. My OB says I can take it and my primary Dr said the research did not include pregnant women. 

Is anyone else getting the vaccine? Or thinking about it? Or do you think it's not worth taking? No judgment would love to hear what you are doing!

    I ended up getting pregnant and having a chemical pregnancy in between my first and second dose. I was actively miscarrying the week I was supposed to get my second dose. I asked my doctor if it was OK to get the second shot and his exact words were, "Absolutely get the shot."

    I think the most recent research shows that it's not only safe but encouraged for pregnant women - getting Covid while pregnant is no joke. And there are instances of babies being born with antibodies because the mother was vaccinated while pregnant, but I don't know if you have to get vaccinated within a certain time frame in order to pass the antibodies along (i.e., in the third trimester). 

    It's  a personal decision and I am in no way a medical profession, but I would 100% get the shot being pregnant if I hadn't already.

    EDITED TO ADD: In New York State, pregnancy was listed as a co-morbidity before eligibility opened up to everyone above 16.

    I got the first shot a few weeks before my embryo transfer, and I got the second shot the day after my transfer. For me, it was a no-brainer. The last thing I want to deal with while being pregnant is getting Covid. I could understand being reluctant because we want to be super careful during pregnancy, but I didn't really see any tangible downside to getting it (other than feeling like crap the next day, but whatever). 

    Are you due in January? Have you introduced yourself in the Intro thread and I missed it? Anyway, if you want to get involved with the community, feel free to introduce yourself there!

    I received both doses prior to getting pregnant - but I absolutely would have gotten it while pregnant too.  Everything I've seen recommends it for pregnant and nursing moms.  

    Of course it's a personal decision that you need to make between you, your doctor, and your partner.

    @nomar610 if you are thinking of not getting the second.. look up the effectiveness of the first only. I think they are quite effective with the first dose.

    I have low blood platelets and am currently asking my hematologist what she thinks.. the rare cases of blood clots, etc are in people like me! I'm thinking I'll wait for a couple more months for more data.

    I got my first shot in March and will get my 2nd at the end of June. I feel fine about it, and excited to  be fully vaccinated.

    I haven’t gotten mine yet. Wasn’t thinking I would get pregnant this quickly since DD took a while so I was going to get it done this summer while DH was gone. But here we are 😅
    I will discuss it with my midwife when I meet her but plan to wait until DH gets home. Since I am solo parenting and already hanging on by a thread through exhaustion and nausea I don’t want to risk having side effects at this point.

    @MrsJessS if you are comfortable sharing- let us know what they say. I asked my OB and they just sent me links to the CDC 🤷‍♀️. I'm going to discuss at my next appointment.

    I was vaccinated (luckily!) before getting pregnant, but I can tell you that I have a coworker that got the vaccine while pregnant and since gave birth to a happy healthy little boy. I feel for those of you making this decision right now. It’s not an easy one with so much still unknown.

    @Limes030 will do! My primary care doctor told me that the American College of Obstetrics says to get it when you can even if your pregnant. She was also pushing really hard for me to get it in the first trimester and I gave her a big fat no to that (for all the reasons I said above) Primary care doctor does also do OB care so 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Totally understand the hesitation,  as I was also conflicted but ultimately recieved both doses. I got the first dose the day I found out I was pregnant and the second at around 7 weeks.  Baby is growing and healthy so far at 9 weeks. <3

    If you are worried about getting a fever or other side effects harming the baby,  I understand, as that was my main concern.  They told me to take Tylenol to prevent a fever, and I didn't end up getting one.  All other symptoms were relatively minor and didn't last long, although it did make my nausea far worse for a day.  Good luck!!

    @amanda690373 I'm more worried about the rare acute affects, which might apply to me, and unknown long term affects.

    @Limes030 yes, I went today to get my second vaccine 💉. It was a hard decision, since my OB told me it was safe and my primary Dr gave me a link to the study. Which said pregnant women were not included in the original study. I am 8wks and next week I have an ultrasound so fingers crossed all goes well ❤️
