If you don't have regular periods,

was it harder for you to get pregnant?  My gf who only has 4-5 periods a year is worried that she will have a difficult time TTC.  Just curious what others experiences were for my own curiosity.

On a side note, she has brought up to me about being pregnant together and wouldn't it be fun.  I am cautious about this because I got pregnant right away and I would feel so badly for them if we got pregnant and they didn't. (They are our neighbors and we see them all of the time).

Thoughts?

Re: If you don't have regular periods,

  • I don't have regular periods. They range from everyother months to as long as 6 months apart. It took me a year to get pregnant with DS. My Dr. wanted to wait a yr before we started any testing etc. Good luck to your friend

Before my DS, I had long cycles.  Basically the quality of your egg can deteriorate, so if you do get pregnant, you might miscarry.  At least this is what my Dr. told me.  My Dr. gave me progesterone to induce my period and clomid to make me ovulate earlier in my cycle.  I know a couple women who have this problem as well.  One has been trying for a while and is still not pregnant.  I am not sure if she has other problems.  The other woman has been trying for about 6 months or so.  Her Dr. has her on Clomid now.

  • I had irregular periods & it took 1 year to get pregnant with DS. I only had 4 periods during that time. We weren't charting or anything, so maybe that could be why it took longer.
