Rants/Raves: DS told me he loves me as much as farts. High praise indeed.
Concerns/Questions: Should we do something special to reveal the baby's sex to DS? I was going to do a volcano with blue or pink lava for the last one, but that didn't pan out. I was thinking of telling him while we are on family Zoom so everyone can see his reaction. Maybe write it down and have him read it since he's getting pretty good at reading.
GTKY: What is the best gift you have ever received? I asked for the Wicked soundtrack for Christmas one year. DH's family instead bought everyone tickets to see Wicked in LA. This was probably almost 15 years ago, but I still remember how excited I was. The performance was amazing. I bawled. I really miss going to live stage performances!
How are your other kids doing this week? My little one woke up with congestion and a barky cough so off to the pediatrician we go! My oldest is having some mean girl issues at school and is struggling so trying to talk through that. My middle one is easy as usual.
Rants/Raves: just ranting about my little one being sick. We’ve been home so much this hasn’t happened in awhile, I forgot how much this sucks!

@aztecash I’m planning on doing cupcakes that are either pink or blue inside. Nothing big, but still fun!
How are your other kids doing this week? Good per usual. We went to the zoo yesterday afternoon and he loved it.

How are your other kids doing this week? She's good--hungry, suddenly interested in the potty, only wants to walk in people's yards instead of on the sidewalk.
Rants/Raves: I choose rant! At the start of the year, my mom agreed to take my daughter on Tuesdays during the day so I could have some time to myself, run errands without a baby, etc. It's been great. And my parents have been following the same covid safety principles as my husband and I have, so I felt pretty safe creating a social bubble with them. Well...my sister, who lives in France and is due with my nephew in a few weeks, came back to the US with her husband and my niece to have the baby. They're staying with my parents. And they put my niece in school, so now I don't feel as safe socializing or leaving my daughter with my mom anymore. Obviously, I don't blame my sister for any of it; I'd likely want to do the same thing! I just selfishly miss my Tuesday freedom. And I'm sad my daughter has to miss out on time with my mom. At least school is only in session through May! 😅

My cousin and his wife had a small cake filled with pink M&Ms to tell their DD1 that she was getting a baby sister. She was so excited about her favorite candy in the middle of the cake that she didn't care if she was getting a brother, sister, or puppy. Not the reaction they were hoping for, but still cute.

How are your other kids doing this week? STILL recovering from daycare crud. I love our daycare so much, but I don't love the germ factory aspect. This cold is lasting foreeeeeeever.
Rants/Raves: Raves only! I've been able to get vaccine appointments for so many of my family and friends. I feel like a hero! The only person left to get vaccinated is me! (I definitely plan to, but would like to discuss with my OB first.)
Concerns/Questions: I can't remember if this was discussed in the covid vaccine thread, but has anyone been counseled by their OB on either getting the shot (or not getting it) during first trimester? I'm tentatively planning to get mine as soon as I'm out of the first trimester, but we'll see what my doctor says.
GTKY: What is the best gift you have ever received? Let me preface this by saying: I generally dislike getting jewelry as gifts, and my H knows this. Something about receiving jewelry makes me feel like a stereotype. Plus I tend to wear the same pieces over and over, and if I want something new, I prefer to pick it myself. I had a pair of pearl and diamond earrings that my mom gave me as a graduation gift years ago that were my go-to stud earrings. I wore them nearly every day. One fell out and I lost it, and I was heartbroken. A few months later at Christmas, my H surprised me with an identical set. It was so incredibly thoughtful of him!
@pizzaplz I would miss my day off to if I were you. That’s hard that you can’t really control the whole COVID exposure with your family. Hopefully everyone stay healthy.
@galentine that’s so insightful of your DH to surprise you with something like that. I agree about receiving jewelry but in that case, what a perfect gift.

How are your other kids doing this week? Staying inside since it’s been rainy and cold (for California).
Rants/Raves: I asked my SO tonight if he’d get vaccinated in order to be able to go to my OB appointments and he got really quiet. He eventually said “no, and I have concerns about you getting vaccinated.” 🤷🏼♀️ Wtf I feel like he has no reason to complain he can’t be at the appointments and ultrasounds with an attitude like that 😏

a necklace for Christmas with my DD’s birthstone from my SO. We had just started dating and DD’s father is my ex-husband. I thought it was pretty cool of him to see how much she is my life and to honor that.
How are your other kids doing this week? This was her first week back to daycare after being off for two weeks from quarantine. While I know she is happy to be back, she has been really emotional at night because she isn’t getting her usually 2-3 hour nap at daycare that she gets at home.
Rants/Raves: DD is still so obsessed with this baby. I don’t think she realizes it’s not a baby doll in mommy’s belly but she kisses it and hugs my belly and the ultrasound picture daily. It’s seriously the sweetest thing.

GTKY: What is the best gift you have ever received? My husband SUCKS at buying gifts, so I always buy the things I want the most. 🤷🏻♀️

@aztecash it's so sweet that you want to do something fun for your son to announce the sex! Even if he doesn't particularly understand or care, a five year old could have so much fun with a cupcake or volcano or even just getting to be part of the announcement. Let us know what you end up doing!
How are your other kids doing this week? He has been sick and home from daycare but over all still in good spirits. Of course this is a terrible week for him to be home because work has been crazy! Luckily my husband took Tuesday off and then I took Wednesday. DH doesn't work on Thursday or Friday so at least I have been able to focus those days.
Rants/Raves: So happy I had a US this week but learned too late that DH could have come.

GTKY: What is the best gift you have ever received? I was a spoiled kid/adult, in the same year the family I babysat gave me their old car and I got a trip to Europe with my school from my parents. Hard to beat Christmas when I was 17.

@mac-n-cheese regarding your DH and the vaccine that is so hard! Maybe he will come around, I know a lot of people who have changed their mind.
@galentine My Dr. didn't necessary give a recommendation, they said they could give recommendations because they like to do that based on actual studies which there just isn't enough data yet. She did talk about all the dangers in pregnancy if you get covid and what the CDC/ACOG have said. At the end of the conversation, I said I planned on getting it when it is available to me and after the first trimester, she said that is what most of their patients are doing.

Rants/Raves: If one more person asks if I'm hoping for a boy this time I may lose my shit. I have to bite my tongue every time someone asks.

How are your other kids doing this week? They’re doing great, we told them the news this morning and they’re pretty excited! My eldest daughter has decided it’s a boy and he will be named Max haha. I guess time will tell!
Rants/Raves: I had my first ultrasound yesterday and everything is starting to feel way more real...cannot wait to bring another beautiful little person into our family
Concerns/Questions: I want to surprise our girls with a gender reveal too, but my eldest will not touch cupcakes with a 10 foot pole. Have y’all ever seen something that incorporates cookies?

For my 30th birthday, my husband planned the whole day out for me and my best friend complete with a scavenger hunt with envelopes that had clues for the next activity. It ended with a dinner at my favorite place with all my closest friends and it is still by far one of my most cherished memories
