Re: *LATE* UO Thursday 2.11

  • Loading the player...
  • Here's mine: I really don't like getting flowers. I mean, they're ok to look at, but then they take up space on the table or counter, and then as the die, they start stinking, and the clean up afterwards is just annoying. Don't get me flowers. Get me food. Or coffee. Or anything else, really.
  • Ooh ooh ok I remembered my UO.

I hate instagram reels where people point to the words/phrases that appear all over the screen. Idk why, just bothers me. Also I imagine how dumb everyone looks trying to film them  :D
  • @inthewoods23 Sorry!!! Hahahaha! I see what you mean. I just didn’t want to the day to go by without the routine of this post, even though it’s late.😬
This makes me wonder a separate thought: there were members here before who hated when anyone would reply to a topic from the day before. Like posting in the WTF Wednesday thread on a Thursday or Friday. I wonder if anyone here feels that way?

@lisa3379 Oh no, girl, you are wrong on this one!😆 Fresh flowers on the table or dresser look so beautiful! I’ve told MH a hundred times that I love them, and still he’s only gotten me flowers maybe 3 times in all our years together.

My UO is a repeat: I really can’t stand Instagram. It kills my brain cells. I feel like it encourages hyperactivity and inability to focus. I feel the same way about “stories”, whether on FB, IG, or anywhere else. No wonder people these days can’t focus on things that require sustained attention.
  • @pajamstagrams We were posting at the same time. I love your UO. I never thought how ridiculous it must look when people are filming those.🤪
  • @keikilove as far as I'm concerned, people can post in threads at anytime of the week. Why limit your UO to Thursday, when you came up with a great one on Friday? I like the daily topics just to keep everything organized so you don't end up with 5 UO threads a week lol
  • @Lisa3379 the only reason I ever like getting flowers is because DH has only ever gotten me flowers maybe 5 times since we started dating - and that was in 2007! It's easier to keep them alive if it comes with the plant food, but yeah, it's kind of a waste. Frankly I'd be mad if I ever got roses because those die so fast. Daisies are my favorite and I usually don't need to toss stems until 2+ weeks later. I wish someone would send me an edible arrangement lol

@pajamstagrams but your username has "stagram" in it haha

@keikilove that never bothered me. If someone wanted to have a b-fest on a Friday in the thread created on Mondays I think that would be better than posting to the randoms thread or something.

I don't have a UO right now but I'll come back again if I think of one.

  • @inthewoods23 Oh yeah, I'll take edible arrangements any day of the week, haha.

@keikilove I'm with you regarding instagram. I post so rarely, and so many people's posts look so fake and contrived. Like, who has the time to do all that? Sometimes I'll go to post something, look at it for a minute, and delete it, because who cares?
  • @inthewoods23 haha I know, but it has nothing to do with instagram 😂 . I actually like instagram, just not those dumb reels. (my username here is nowhere close to my insta handle. )
  • @keikilove I have a habit of not liking to comment on day-old dailies. I'd just rather let it die and reference the old thread in the new one. It doesn't really bother me if people do comment on the old one. I just like seeing the current days thread at the top. And I've sometimes accidentally posted on the wrong thread when it gets bumps to the top.

@Lisa3379 💯!! We might not agree on flowers but we agree on everything you said about IG. 😉
  • @pajamstagrams I never understood why use the reels or the FB stories stuff. Why does everything have to start copying all apps? The idea of these was stolen from Snapchat

@bows22 me too. I'd rather keep the same thought in the prior day's thread

  • Count me in on those who are "meh" on flowers. Sure, it's lovely to receive and the thought is nice but now I have the responsibility of watering them, etc. I remember when DH and I were dating, I broke my foot and was out of work for a couple of weeks. When I finally got back to the office, he sent me flowers for my desk and I was like "thank you, but these are a waste of money," and he replied, "you're welcome."

@mrs_tacos def not a UO that you don't like melons, I totally agree. They're nasty. Watermelon with salt is pretty good, but cantaloupe and honeydew are blergggh. Way too sweet.

Edit to come off less "YOUR UO ISN'T VALID" and more "I absolutely agree" 😂
  • @mrs_tacos omg the people in the curly hair groups I'm in on FB over the side part! There are posts legitimately asking for new hairstyle ideas since those are apparently out.

WTF ever happened to "you do you"? Why do people care so much?

My hair is a center part but side swept bangs :D what does that make me? Am I an outcast since I don't fit either category?

  • @pajamstagrams with salt is literally the only way I will eat watermelon!

@inthewoods23 I had a middle part when I had bangs too! But without bangs a middle part just makes my face look so W I D E. Maybe my side part dates me, but I'm not willing to take fashion advice from an age group that ate tide pods and thinks they invented boot cut pants.

  • @jackie_dunny grilled watermelon is good too. I think I've done salt on watermelon maybe once? Salt helps bring out flavor it's actually pretty tasty.

Give me ALLLLLLL they honeydew. Apparently melon is one of DH's migraine triggers so I was always so careful about eating it wiping my lips and taking a sip of something to get rid of most of it before giving him a kiss. WELL I only recently freaking found out that it's ONLY cantaloupe that's the problem, not all melons so now I get to enjoy honeydew without feeling like I need to rinse my mouth before going near him.

  • @inthewoods23 yeah I knew that, just never heard (or thought of) adding salt to watermelon. DH says watermelon tastes of nothing and therefore hates it. Maybe I should add some salt to see if he likes it better because I loooove watermelon

  • I've heard of adding salt to watermelon, but it just does not sound appealing AT ALL. I'm cool with a good watermelon or a good cantaloupe, but honeydew is about the most worthless fruit out there. This reminds me of a conversation/argument that my co-workers and I used to have - what is the true hierarchy of fruit? One would constantly say that a good tangelo deserves the top spot. Like, it would get heated. Teachers during their lunch breaks, man.  :D
  • @mrs_tacos @inthewoods23 wait, side parts and skinny jeans aren't cool? 100% sure if I had a center part I'd look straight out of the 70s, so nooooo thanks. Not flattering at all.
  • @pajamstagrams Well, according to Gen Z-ers they aren't cool, so do like you would with watermelon and take it with many grains of salt.

  • @Lisa3379 So....what is the agreed upon hierarchy of fruit?

  • @mrs_tacos oh, we never fully agreed. I think most of us stipulated that grapes can go somewhere near the bottom, all berries (minus blueberries) were close to the top, and honeydew and cantaloupe were the basement dwellers. Personally, my top fruit is pineapple, but I got shot down regularly for that one, haha.

You can pry my bangs and middle part out of my cold, dead hands.

I guess my UO is I don't mind honeydew? It's not the first thing I reach for but once in a while, you get a really ripe, delectable one that tastes like melted sugar and it's delightful.

Gimme all the melons. Any kind. Especially watermelon. I can’t believe so many are hating on THE BEST OF THE MELONS. I feel so alone.

    end rant

    also grapes are great
  • @Lisa3379 I generally agree with this. I'm not sure if Pineapple is my very top, but it's definitely up there! Also,  blueberries are only fit for pancakes and muffins, and being combined with other berries in a smoothie.

  • on that note PINEAPPLE BELONGS ON PIZZA

@fameonmain2 pineapple on...tacos?? I have never heard of such a thing. Though I guess since both pineapple and mango salsa exist, it kind of makes sense. Now I want to try it, and I am obviously a big fan of tacos.

I weirdly have no opinion on pineapple on pizza. You do you.

ETA: fixing my fat thumb mistakes.

  • Oh, another opinion on fruit and interesting food...pineapple fried rice is the best!
  • @sienna221 +1 for pineapple fried rice!!
  • Dang it, now I really want a fresh fruit tray and some Chinese takeout.

  • @fameonmain2 Are we the same person?!😲 YES to ALL the melons—sweet & refreshing! Grapes are delicious too. I feel like all these folks here who don’t realize how tasty these fruits are have only tasted the bland melon cubes and grapes in those boring fruit trays at work events. And pineapple salsa is ah-mazing.

I love me some skinny jeans, and rock a side part with my curly hair many times a week. The haters must not have curly hair. 🤷‍♀️

  • @mrs_tacos uh, so this just popped up on an instagram story of all places...is this where you got the side part and skinny jeans comment??? Or is the universe super creepy today?
